I know rivals.com gave Eric Berry Defensive fresman of the year, but no love for him on the ALL-SEC team? It's also difficult to see only 2 guys from anO-Line who has a 1,000 yd rusher and allowed the nation's lowest sack total.
Wins pay off for Fulmer
By BRYAN MULLEN
Staff Writer

KNOXVILLE - Whether Tennessee football fans like it for not, Coach Phillip Fulmer isn't going anywhere. And he will likely get a raise.

UT Athletics Director Mike Hamilton said Tuesday that the program's body of work and overall success this season will probably be rewarded with added years to Fulmer's contract and a bump in pay.

"I think it's reasonable to assume that given the fact that we finished 9-3 in the regular season and won the Eastern Division title that there would be an extension and (added) compensation," Hamilton said. "We review both his extension and compensation and I would anticipate that we would address both of those."

On Tuesday, Fulmer wasn't in the mood to talk about his contract or any changes that may be made in the near future. He did, however, say it is nice to know that UT administrators have continued to show support.

"You always want to feel that you're on good solid ground with your bosses," Fulmer said.

"But I'm not interested in even discussing any of that. We've got business to do in Atlanta."

That's where the Vols will travel this weekend to face LSU in the Southeastern Conference Championship game at 3 p.m. in the Georgia Dome. It's the fifth time in 11 years that UT has advanced to the league title game.

Fulmer currently makes $2.05 million a year and his contract runs through 2013. He was given a two-year extension with no raise in March, marking the second year in a row he didn't receive a raise. In 2005 when UT went 5-6, Fulmer did not get a raise or an extension.

Six weeks ago, discussions about of a contract extension and elevated compensation seemed unlikely. UT had just been blown out by rival Alabama 41-17, and the Vols had a 4-3 record.

Critics were calling for Fulmer's job and he was mentioned by various national media outlets as being on the hot seat. But since the Alabama game, UT has gone 5-0, won the SEC Eastern Division and advanced to the league title game.

Fulmer's contract calls for him and Hamilton to sit down on Dec. 15 of each year to evaluate the previous season. It's unlikely that a contract extension and raise would be finalized in the next few weeks, although Hamilton said he and Fulmer, who is in his 16th season as UT's head coach, can discuss changes to the contract at any time.

According to his contract, Fulmer makes $325,000 in annual base pay. He receives $800,000 a year for radio and television services, $625,000 in athletic apparel endorsements, and $300,000 for various endorsement and consultation contracts.

He also can earn bonuses for team achievements. They include a non-BCS Bowl appearance ($37,500), an SEC East Division title ($50,000), an SEC Championship game appearance ($75,000), an SEC Championship and BCS Bowl appearance ($100,000), a BCS Bowl appearance without an SEC Championship ($100,000), a BCS National Championship appearance ($150,000), and a BCS National Championship title ($250,000).

The bonuses are not cumulative and only the highest level achieved is paid.

Honestly UT fans....Do Y'all really want Uncle Phil outta there???
Not a UT fan, but considering the amount of talent they have down there consistently, its safe to say they've underachieved over the past fewyears... but i dont follow them as much so thats just IMO

That list is since the Nat'l Title Team.

As you can see, the talent is there. so that mean something is lacking with the coaching staff. whether CPF cant get the team to play with cohesion or if hecant get them to play up to their talent level. SOMETHING is missing.

I don't know if I want CPF to stay or go. He does a great job in recruiting and is like a father figure to those kids.
OTOH, he's not a very aggressive coach.. Doesnt like to blow teams out, too conservative...
I guess everything is all gravy until the next time we lose, than everybody and their momma is going to want him up outta there.
I taste Sugar!
