but is she really a female if she still has a penis? one could not saying me could argue that ppl portraying pretending to be things ie...a different race/sex should win awards based off of this.

I dont agree/disagree but i could see the argument of someone saying a man with breast giving the illusion pretending to be man getting an award is no different then iuno wayans pretending to be a white women and getting a best actress award...or hell even someone like tyler perry etc... getting a best actress award.
 
I don't think something as trivial as a hollywood award show would need to go as far as validating ones sex.  

The performer lives, identifies and works a woman

the wayans and tyler perry are men playing a character, they'll always be recognized as such

the awards are for the performers portrayal of the character not the character itself

as far as i know, laverne (the actress) never came forth about whether she had the surgery or not. my whole thing is like the other guy said, she identifies as a woman. she should be treated as such. and to take away her award based on that is FOOLISHNESS, and bigotry.
 
Only on episode 2 but it's pretty funny...I'll prob get through both seasons this week

but that could be used by anybody...i mean you got ppl who willingly and accept identify themselves as other races.... And i def could see the argument for female actresses especially black female actresses. Its hard enough to get roles let alone nominated and win awards. I def could see someone like a gabriel union (not saying her specifically) being upset or feel as if it isnt fair if she lost best black actress to a transgender....just off the fact that she is a woman and the other is a man who had a sexual/hormonal changes to live a life as the illusion of a women. 

That would like i said open the flood gates for hell like i said earlier tyler perry winning awards as best female actress as madea. One might say oh well one identifies themselves as a women, but end of the day they both are portraying a women....its just one takes it off screen and into their personal day-to-day life. 

If they truly are accepting of themselves and wanting to be treated as such then speak out or suggest awards for transgenders...

Nah looked way too much like a dude. You could see it. Besides dude without the make-up as we seen during the low on estrogen storyline showed the clear male features.

Saying that it is "good acting" doesn't affect the fact that male physical features still exists.
