Kind of a rough outline of how I have them as of now. I need another watch of this one, and a 2nd-3rd watch of Deadpool to gauge them a lil better. Maybe another Ultron as well.

The movies on the top of your list I pretty much agree with, except for the order, and it's missing a few movies. I wouldn't have TDK in that top group , it's somewhere in the middle group of that long list for me.

BvS and MoS do not belong in that middle group. Too many problems with both movies.

what's really mind boggling to me is how they could have possible botched the marketing for this movie

80% of lex's lines were meaningless and felt like they were specifically written for a trailer

every action scene is filled with stop and pose moments that are perfect for trailers

everything about this movie is perfect material to make trailers out of and somehow they found a way to get people hating on this mess before it even game out

Jimmy Olsen got no love :smh::rofl:
Literally got killed for no reason except for the hell of it.

Snyder was asked why he did it: 'So we can have fun with him. He's not really a part of our long term plans'

When asked why Jimmy wasn't clearly introduced in the movie : 'Cuz ppl would get mad'

Also I can't believe that Eisenberg had come in auditioning for Olsen. Even he didn't think he was Lex material

This was a really, really.... unique viewing experience

I've never watched a film that was so this or that for me. Like the things that it gets right it knocks out the part but the stuff that it misses on was literally cringe worthy for me.

Quick thoughts after one viewing

1st complaint is i feel like the Wayne's murder was way too stylized. And i actually started laughing at the Bat levitation/Christ imagery. Kind of started off on a really bad note for me

A large portion of the film felt like it was edited as if it was a compilation of clips from 4 other films. Perfect example is when Perry says "He clicks his heels 3 times and ends up in Kansas", or something along those lines. The vast majority of films would of then cut to a scene of Superman  not BvS.

I wish that Batman's murders or manslaughters were contextualized in some kind of way. Even in a throwaway line when Supes was confronting him or something. Batman killing isn't a big deal to me but without it being properly framed I'm left to wonder if this has been his course of action since day one.

Some of the elements in the film have to be going over extremely poorly with casuals. The first Flash cameo generated a couple of "huh?"s in my screening. The Nightmare stuff also seemed to be pretty confusing to people around me and it was an extremely fanboyie audience. They were just weird choices imo.

The Musical cues were OD.. *important information shows up* BADUUUUHHHH DUMMMM DAAAAAAAA!!!

Lois Lane is useless.

The email was the laziest **** they could of possibly conceived :smh:

The marketing was a mess. I wish the Doomsday stuff was never shown because i found myself getting into the fight and legitmately thinking Batman was going to murk Supes  And I also thought the Nuke was gonna be the final nail for Doomsday but then I remembered Wonder Woman didn't show up yet

Lastly, my most important gripe. I understand how Lex Jr was written and I do believe that if Lex Jr existed today IRL that'll probably be close to how he'd actually be but something in Eisenberg's performance was just off. I wish the character had more of a duality to his personality. There was no charm to him he was just a complete OCD d-bag. This is maybe a reach but something about him just made me think that they're gonna go the "Lex turns into Brainac" angle :smh:

Affleck killed it. Irons was amazing as Alfred too, the two had great chemistry. Michael Caine's Alfred was a lot more paternal, Irons was just like a cool uncle

Gal Gadot might actually be a movie star. She owned every frame she was in. I don't think it's due to writing either, she just had a presence. He arrival in the final battle is probably the second loudest reaction i've ever heard (next to Fury at the end of IM1), might even be number 1.

Overall I liked Superman's arc, especially the stuff towards the end. I thought it was handled extremely well and the payoff was massive. Heard grown men snuffling and kids bawling.

The film was beautiful, of course.

I liked how there really isn't much of a difference between Bruce and Batman. The didn't make him some guy who chummed up to everyone in public, he was basically still an *******

Overall i feel the film was pretty much exactly what i expected. Decent, not terrible but a lot of missed opportunities. There's a brilliant MoS sequel buried beneath all of the JLA setup but i do feel like they do Superman's overall arc justice in the film.

I have other thoughts that i feel I need to better gather and plan on seeing it at least one more time.

If i had to give it a rating i guess a C is fitting.

And the absolute last thing I think we need of this film is a longer cut.

I feel like a good 20 minutes or so could be completely erased from the film and it'll be fine, if not better. I REALLY want to see a fan edit of this later this summer.

And after watching it i can totally see why someone whose job it is to review films could leave this movie feeling the way the critics did. If you don't get invested within the first 20 minutes or so the film really makes no attempts to reel you in, it just throws more and more stuff at you. It doesn't cater to a casual audience at all

And it's funny because a lot of these same critics complain about Marvel films each spending most of the 1st act easing you into stuff and holding your hand. BvS literally doesn't do that for a second and they bash it for it.

I agree with you, RVD, about Gal Gadot. They had actually casted WW right. Her stage presence was surprising. Before the movie, I thought Gal was just another hot chick.

I am really happy that Snyder does not appear to have a direct hand on her solo movie (if I'm correct).

That slight smile during the fight is probably my favorite part of the film

it was just a strange mixture of handholding to start then going full on with a bunch of pointless random things from the comics that confused everyone that's not a comic nerd.

like within the first 30 seconds of the movie i was like "oh they are going to cut between his parents being murdered and him running, falling into a hole then getting attacked by bats. I have seen this before" then it kept going, slow motion being used in every shot, still going after 5 minutes, still slow motion, everyone already gets it why is this scene still happening? more slow motion, how am I already bored before the opening credits have concluded? oh no real payoff, literally everything I knew was going to happen except for some reason it took 10 minutes of slow motion to get through.

then, everything starts happening so fast, why are you cutting to another unrelated storyline? what does this have to do with the plot? will I have to remember this batman dream when I watch your next movie in 2 years? aww I was just starting to get invested in this scene and you cut to something totally unrelated again. This is a very specific comic book reference, why are you making such a blatant effort to show something most people will not understand with no effort put into explaining what it means?

i really enjoyed her in the movie but it was mostly her looks

she had like 8 lines and none of them were too memorable

not saying she wont be great, just that she still has a lot to prove

I do have faith in her though, especially with a better director

I just remembered Miller talking about when he was working on the Aronofsky Batman flick that never came out and how he had to keep telling him "No, Batman wouldn't do that".

Why didn't anyone have this conversation with Snyder lol?

come to think of it, the court room scene is this zach snider in a nutshell

just when characters are about to get into an intelligent conversation about the overall themes of the superman character, everything blows up and everyone dies

I told my sister that this was the first film that I wished i could fast forward while in the theaters lol. None of that Young Bruce stuff worked for me.

And that's why i think the final act had me so engaged. It was the first time in the entire film where the momentum isn't randomly broken for some strange non-related subplot (ehhh actually the Lois stuff :rolleyes ) but for the most part they let the tension and everything build so when you get to the payoff it's effective.

Hopefully going to watch tomorrow..

But there is zero need for anything from batman's childhood and/or what happened with his parents to be in the movie.. we've seen it enough we all know what happened

I'm sure it will look cool

Saw it today, good movie.  No need to get into the nitty gritty of things, but Batfleck turned out to be awesome, WW was a pleasant surprise as she was very well done and Gadot was surprising in the role.  They gottttttta give Supes some more personality, humanity...something.

Anyways movie is good enough that I am gonna watch it a second time, in theaters with someone who hasnt seenT it.  Very rare occasion for a movie
