DC Studios THREAD - GunnVerse Begins - Chapter ONE: Gods & Monsters

I don't think it's so much confidence but necessity. They seem in a hurry to get the shared universe up and running.

^^^ true. The only thing that excites me out of that lineup is the Flash / Green Lantern film. If that does well, we could probably see a Cap / Punisher film. More team up films. These solo flicks are getting a bit stale. Mix it up.

I thought most films that are shot back to back do well, LoTR, The Hobbit, Harry Potter, Twilight, etc... All those made big bucks in the box office.

Plus it's more cost effective to both the production team and actors.

Financially of course, I'm talking quality. I'm not aware of many films that do that end up being great.

LoTR, Harry Potter and Back to the Future were all very good. I believe Superman I and Superman II were filmed back to back too and arguably the two best Superman films in the franchise so far? Kill Bill was considered one film split into two but it was still considered a film made back to back. Hobbits pretty good so far considering it is expanded trilogy from one book.

I mean what other films have you seen in the past 20 years that suffered from being filmed back to back outside of the Pirates 2 & 3 and Matrix 2&3? Twilight was crap to begin with so quality doesn't even count, quality didn't suffer from back to back filming because there were like 3 crappy films before that already. It's not like majority of the films filmed back to back are all really, really bad.

I mean that is all the films that I could think of that were filmed back to back and majority of them hasn't suffered from quality at all, even with the Matrix/Pirates can't even be blamed on production times, seems like the follow up stories just wasn't even close to the first one.

Outside of Kill Bill and LOTR, I care about none of those films, so I guess I'm bias. I just would rather them gauge the reaction of this film first before.

I've never seen Back To The Future :nerd:

Ideally, shooting back to back is how all of these Superhero/franchise type films should be made so you get the continuity... unfortunately of course most studio's are unwilling to take the gamble.

Mamoa comes to my gym. He is tall, but not as swole as the camera makes him look. Based on what I have seen, if he wants to be superhero status he needs to put on more 10 lbs. of muscle and eat cleaner.

Kill Bill wasn't shot back to back, it was one movie that was split in two during post-production so that doesn't count.

LoTR and Harry Potter: Deathly Hallows are in a little bit of a different situation than Dawn of Justice/JLA because I believe most of the movies were shot concurrently, not back to back. It also helps that they were adapted from one book/one story so they were treated as parts of the same movie. I dont know if the same can be said for Dawn of Justice/JLA...JLA is kind of a mystery right now so we'll just have to wait for more info on its production.

Superman 1 and 2 was shot back to back and it is famous for having a **** ton of production troubles. I'll give you Back to the Future though, love every single movie in that series :pimp:

I like Momoa but I just don't buy him as Aquaman, mostly due to me not giving a **** about Aquaman.

I wouldn't mind Radcliff as a superhero but wanting to be Robin is a joke  he should be calling to be Nightwing.

Back to back simply means it is shot simultaneously or within a short period of time within each other. Situations are going to be different at times (if not most of the time, like LoTR is 3 books and shot back to back to back while Hobbit is one book that was suppose to be one film but got stretched to 3 but still considered back to back to back because they just kept filming and adding stuff), concurrent or not, they are still considered shot "back to back".

Doesn't matter if Superman 1 & 2 had plenty of production problems, they still produced what many consider the two best films of the Superman franchise so far and the discussion I disagreed with was that "most films shot back to back suffered in quality".

With everyone calling this film a JL prequel, is it really far fetch to think the two film aren't just one film stretched to two? It is being directed by the same guy, production team, actors, etc... are all the same and they are shooting it in 6-10 months straight? So whether it is to save production cost or make a more unified story, I think this is a good sign. You have to keep in mind that BvS wasn't the plan after MoS so they could have easily fallen back to their old ways of Burton, Schumacher and Nolan Batmans (or Fox with Xmen) so them actually having two films (plus other future DC films) that are planned and meant to work together is a very good sign. Granted 2 of 3 of those Batman series worked, MoS and afterwards could easily go the Schumacher route (and it could still do, though likely not as bad) but planning ahead is almost always a good sign.

I never want to hear the phrase back to back again after that post

As for the Dawn of Justice/JLA stuff...it's all speculation and I'm just hoping for the best.

I still do not fully believe this film is a full pledge prequel to the JL and its more of a Worlds Finest film that leads to JL with a bunch of small cameos but i believe it has been confirmed to being filmed back to back so its safe to assume the stories will continue on and this film is an "inbetweenquel" as Singer would put it that just leads to their biggest film to date.

I'm expecting this to look like a batman movie with Supes in it...and some others..

I mean this is supposed to be MOS 2.. then they changed it to BvS

I'm torn on the possible WW costume. One part feels that you really can't give her the "traditional" costume because she'd just be eye candy, standing around barely clothed, while Bats and Supes are completely covered. The other part feels that the suit is iconic and should really stay the same (I loathe the new 52 costume). I guess in the end the best compromise is a Xena/Sif like armor.

But really, if there's one thing you can give Snyder major kudos on, is his visual style, costume design included.
