DC Studios THREAD - GunnVerse Begins - Chapter ONE: Gods & Monsters

A Supes movie with Brainiac as the primary antagonist is obviously a sensible stop on the road to a movie featuring Darksid as the main villain.

My only reservation about this trajectory is the fact that it will seemingly follow a path already traversed by Marvel. It will be viewed as DC being unoriginal.

Braniac movie = AOU

Darksid movie = Thanos movie

In some ways, I feel like Marvel is playing chess with DC, and the latter is completely oblivious to this fact.

...

I think they are gonna avoid Darkseid for a while since Apocalypse and Thanos will be getting a lot of on screen time in the next few years.

For all the praise both avengers movies get I actually think overall they fell flat and are carried by the great action scenes. I could go on and on about what's wrong with both films between the fights

Marvel spends too much energy trying to make movies feel connected and not enough time making movies stand on their own. We get it at this point. Shared universe. DC is walking into the same trap.

Seems like DC isnt trying to do that with how there is no Feige like person connecting the films.

Its hard to say yet because off course bats will show up in suicide squad and JL.

But I agree. And like I said before, what is the point of forcing interconnectivity if they ignore decisions made in other movies anyway (Arc reactor, bifrost, etc).

Like I keep saying. Once this **** happens in 7-9 superhero movies a year like it will in a couple years, people will just get tired of it.

I actually don't mind this as I prefer the continuity. Has any movie really been hindered by this? I feel like the only other franchise that acknowledges past events is the Fast series.

Acknowledgment is one thing, but AOU wasted a lot of time with overselling the connectedness.

Ah, ok. I don't waste my time with that show, only Daredevil and the actual Movie's so I'm not seeing any of the "forced" connections you guys are who watch AoS

I see the 'forced connectivity' complaint a lot. I've seen every mcu film and I really don't see where this is coming from. If anything, a more valid complaint would be that they ignore things that has happened from previous films.

If anything? It's the most annoying thing about this universe.

Also there is absolutely no denying that better things could've been done with AoU screen time than set up Thor 3.

I don't know. Thor 1 was there just to set up avengers IMO and iorn man 3 did its best to mention avengers 1 as many times as possible.

I actually liked Thor 1 and only in retrospect, can I see it as an Avengers prequel with the Loki and Thor origins. It didn't really seem like it was trying too hard to fit in anything when it first came out. And if anything, it flowed into Avengers quite smoothly without feeling contrived.

Man for me it screamed shoehorned

As far as my opinion of the movie, I didn't not like it, if that makes sense. Both Thor movies didn't go anywhere until the end. Both were a huge waste of potential

I'd still like to know what happened between Captain America 2 and Avengers 2 that brought Iron Man out of retirement and the group back together. Obviously SHIELD "went away", but no backstory whatsoever.

And what surgery did IM get at the end? Didn't talk about it one bit. Why isn't super pepper pots helping the avengers?

He got the shrapnels out of his body along with the arc reactor in his chest (because he doesn't need it anymore).
