DC Studios THREAD - GunnVerse Begins - Chapter ONE: Gods & Monsters

If DC wanted to push an African American character into the spotlight it should be Static.

DC comics only distributes Milestone comics and have to get the okay to use any Milestone characters in the DC world by their creators.

Exactly. They did it for the tv show back in the 90's, they should do it again for the films.

Heck you've got a live action show in the works for him that might star Jaden Smith. Screw that clown and put the character on the big screen.

Hoping Static gets the respect he deserves

His 90s comic was classic, I mean every damn issue. If you wanted to know what the 90s were like for black teens, there you go

. His series on Kids WB was good until it became less about young black issues and more about cramming in celebrity guest stars and DCAU cameos (although it did establish Static as a respectable contender in the DCU)

His return during the Teen Titans era was good, and it looked like Static would finally flourish until the New 52 reboot

his solo series was terribad. So glad it was cancelled though apparently it wasn't the writer's fault it was so trash.

Then they introduced Virgil in Young Justice and had the nerve to not even AUDITION Phil Lamarr for the role. And then Young Justice was cancelled anyway

Static Shock and Young Justice were both so amazing. Static Shock at least had a long and successful run, and tackled a lot of real world issues. The cancellation for Young Justice though still hurts my soul :smh: That show was great and only getting better.

I liked YJ but didn't love it. No cartoon has topped the Batman animated series and JL/JLU cartoon for me. I'd probably rank TT over YJ too.

Maybe you missed the part where I talked about Milestone relaunching itself as Milestone Media 2.0. For the most part they're working independent of DC.

They've taken back full ownership of their creations. Right only thing DC is doing is distributing their comics and selling the Dakotaverse as apart of the DC multiverse.

As far as films go. That'd be up to them and it seems like right now neither side is interested. Keep in mind DC would never be getting a 100% profit from using those characters so you'd wonder if they'd think it's worth it. A deal would have to be worked out for film unless you think they could do the same thing Marvel and SONY did?

I honestly don't care. Milestone returning is really no different than the issue between Disney and Sony, with both then coming to a mutual deal for Spider-Man to appear in the MCU. Exact same thing can happen with Static. In terms of money, its just about what either side is willing to live with. Seeing as it'd lead to the character getting a lot more press, and even now, with Milestone's return, how he's still going to be considered with the greater DC Multiverse as a whole, I could see it happening with the right planning put into it.

Similar to Spider-Man (But not to the same extent) the character's appearances in other works already serves to expose him, and unlike some heroes at DC he already has a proven fanbase, and is of course African American, which for them should simply be seen as a bonus.

Don't eem care. I love 2 Fast 2 Furious. Tyrese is cool, but I just don't think he's right for John Stewart.
Well, these characters are always open to interpretation. And really, looking at the tone of BvS, you need a character that isn't so gloomy. Flash could play that role, but I wouldn't mind swapping that dynamic if they get Mr. Gibson to play Stewart. WB would be wise to snatch him up ASAP. :D

You just want to see the fallout. :nerd:

Sorry to all the GL fans, but I am "not-so-secretly" hoping that Tyrese gets the role so I can watch the fallout.
