DC Studios THREAD - GunnVerse Begins - Chapter ONE: Gods & Monsters

I kind of feel like after CW, regardless of how good it is, the atmosphere for CBMs will change.

I was just talking to a coworker who told me he was straight up tired of superheroes and it got me thinking ...

CW represents the ultimate culmination of the MCU so it will flourish, but I have doubts about IW in 2018--they dragged the Thanos/infinity stones thing about 4 years too long IMO, and I feel like the atmosphere will be very different then.

IM3 is one of the highest grossing films of all time, as bad as it is. So i'd say there's always a high possibility it earns more than any film.

If BvS beats it it'll also beat out Dark Knight Rises.
imagined if they hired the BvS marketing team and showed the mandarin being a fraud in the trailers

X-Men, Spider-Man, and Fantastic 4 aren't Marvel film properties though

There is more to that list as well

Daredevil, Elektra.. Blade movies.. Punisher movies.. Ghost rider films

I'm dead right now...

Yeah a lot of CMB are just burnt and tired.....Iron Man hasn't been good since the first one, Thor never been good, Cap is the only one with a solid record so far, Avengers 1 was cool, Avengers 2 was as dumb as BVS, Spider-Man reboots were mediocre at best and so has the a men universe, with first class and DOFP as standout movies IMO and that's because of fassbender and McAvoy's performances...As of recently we have Guardians and Deadpool as good CBM's..

So yeah CBM's are wearing thin....

Box office numbers says otherwise

X-Men, Spider-Man, and Fantastic 4 aren't Marvel film properties though

I'm talkin all CBM's Marvel, Sony, WB, Fox

Although Marvel has the better batting average out of all the studios, they been on some mediocre steez, their heavy hitter, Avengers....is buns....hopefully the Russo Bros work magic with Civil War.

Deadpool has been the best CBM in recent history that I've watched....these dumb *** studios are so concern with setting up a universe that they forget to actually make a solid film....they should start plunging money into HBO and Netflix series because as I see it Netflix handling their universe in a much better way.

Daredevil Vs Punisher >>>>>>>>>>>> BVS

has this BvS deleted scene been posted yet??

edit* shouldve known better that RFX own this thread

I am actually curious if CW being a Captain America film be affected box office wise? Because you call it Avengers: Civil War and it'll probably be guaranteed $1.5B. It's guaranteed that it'll make a billion but I can't help but think that they could make more if it was titled as an Avengers film. I remember when the trailer for CW first came out, some on the MCU thread were saying that people in the theaters were surprised that there was another "avengers" film coming out.

This is exactly how I'm feeling.CW just feels like it's going to represent the peak of Marvel films. Everything is set up for it to be a homerun.

But I think after IW it'll reach the point where it's just too much stuff going on for the casuals to enjoy it. Like, people are complaining about BvS juggling too many plots and stories when they're really only about 9 or so characters that have speaking roles

Box office success was guaranteed for BvS and CW, however I do believe that the atmosphere will be very different come, say, Dr. Strange, Aquaman, and Ant Man and Wasp.

BvS' financial success was contingent on it featuring the biggest mythological figures in American history, and CW represents the culmination of 10 years of movie making and character development. After that, the field will be cleared.

If you ask me, Marvels bread and butter as far as quality, has been cap films, don't get the praise IM gets, maybe because merchandise wise a robot suit is cooler than caps uniform....but I personally think IM is washed....I'm still pissed about sitting in the theater with the Jax fan reaction when they introduced us to Trevor....I almost walked out.

Exactly. They need to think more out the box and use better writing. The Netflix shows prolly flourish cuz they have a more long term story line and its not a huge cluster fudge.

Lately its like you've seen one super hero flick, you've seen em all. Nothing new to the table but new characters with the same tired formula. Deadpool was a breath of fresh air. The Netflix series are A1 thus far.

Maybe you're not looking forward to IW but I am, and I'm sure a lot of marvel fans as well have 2018/2019 circled for the IW releases

I disagree that cw is the ultimate culmination,as you say.. Missing Thor and Hulk. Missing Cap Marvel. There's no major villain to fight.

The bubble is not going to pop after CW. Now if you want to talk after IW, that's a different story. I really don't know what marvel is going to do after that because they're going to be going all out for the IW movies. No holding back.

Winter Soldier is one of my favorite movies -- not just CBM -- of the last 2 or 3 years.

Cap def. doesn't get the love he deserves.

IM gets praise because IM1 is a near perfect comic book movie that kicked things off
