DC Studios THREAD - GunnVerse Begins - Chapter ONE: Gods & Monsters

I kind of feel like after CW, regardless of how good it is, the atmosphere for CBMs will change.

I was just talking to a coworker who told me he was straight up tired of superheroes and it got me thinking ...

CW represents the ultimate culmination of the MCU so it will flourish, but I have doubts about IW in 2018--they dragged the Thanos/infinity stones thing about 4 years too long IMO, and I feel like the atmosphere will be very different then.

I actually think it'll be Infinity War that'll do that. Hell, I was legit surprised when I saw they had Inhumans planned for after that, because that seemed to me like the real culmination of everything, as in there's nowhere else to go after that. Everyone we've seen so far and are going to be seeing in the next film or two should be there, and taking on Thanos with the Infinity Gauntlet is about as big as it gets. Not many threats that top that.

Box office numbers says otherwise

Box office success was guaranteed for BvS and CW, however I do believe that the atmosphere will be very different come, say, Dr. Strange, Aquaman, and Ant Man and Wasp.

BvS' financial success was contingent on it featuring the biggest mythological figures in American history, and CW represents the culmination of 10 years of movie making and character development. After that, the field will be cleared.

Marvel has succeeded already with antman and GOTG.. Pretty sure everything they bring out is going 500+ at the least

Antman will have momentum going into it.. Ditto black panther after CW

Strange, inhumans and captain marvel will be their only really 'new' properties

I think in a year or two, this entire genre might be washed :smh:

I'm thinking about even Spider-Man, my favorite hero--his solo movie will be out in 2018, but will people care? I'm sure I will love the movie but Marvel didn't even bother trying something new like casting a Miles Morales. Just another skinny white kid swinging around, kissing his girl, cracking jokes.

Casuals ain't in on this studio property ownership drama. They just see another Spider-Man and go "again"?

And will they understand IW? This subplot has been going on for a decade.

DC joined the party but they're clearly more concerned with the "verse". And it just represents more saturation with titles like WW and Aquaman (which I'm excited for).

This genere will lose the mainstream appeal it used to have and become niche, mark my words.

Casual fans will understand Civil War, because the basic concept will be explained in the film, despite the fact it can be traced back to the first Iron Man film. I have confidence in Marvel to set up Infinity War the same way.

people will never get tired of quality and creativity.

if superhero movies have those two things they will be just fine.

Basically the lesson that should have been learned from deadpool..

Not the fixation on the R rating

Yeah. Let's all remember, the reason comic book films fell off originally was because of Batman and Robin, which was trash. While the character himself is as popular as ever, DC no longer holds that type of sway in the medium anymore. Long as Marvel keeps giving people quality films things will be just fine.

I don't think so, and I have one reason why: Disney.

Regardless of what moviegoers think, Disney will continue to pour money into Marvel. Video games, theme parks, LEGOs, toys, etc. Every movie will have a Disney Infinity figure and shelf of action figures at Toys R Us. Hot Topic will have shirts and Funkos. Just when you think you're over it all... they'll release a teaser that pulls you right back in.

Disney money and influence is LONG.

Yeah Antman was solid, I'm gonna credit P Rudd for it tho....casting was golden, dude made Antman likeable...lol

Lulz @ thinking T Howard woulda saved IM2 IM3
Laugh if you want, there would've been more dialogue and screen time if TH was in both sequels, mayne.

Don Cheadle is a great actor, unfortunately not even DDL himself could have made IM2 or 3 better...
