DC Studios THREAD - GunnVerse Begins - Chapter ONE: Gods & Monsters

I was just thinking about an article that I read yesterday, and the more I think about it, the more it makes sense.

If they were going to make Superman kill, and if he was going to be deemed a threat by everybody anyway, they should've went all the way with him - no half measures. Just make him a cold blooded, punisher type dude. Have him murk one of Bats's villains. Something. It would've created controversy for sure. Maybe outrage by the purists. But Supes was getting the shaft in BvS anyway, clearly out-shadowed in word of mouth by Bats and WW. At least this way Bats would've been clearly justified in going after Supes.

Not really satisfied with his motivation for going after Supes. Before their fight, they had literally one other meeting. In which Supes gave him a cease and desist and Bats asked him if he bleeds. It was probably iiterally twenty words between the two of them. The very next meeting Supes tried to talk and Bats didn't even give him a chance to say anything. Bats makes the first move. And then they fight. Bats washes him and was about to kill him when Lois came in and said the magic word. Then all of a sudden things were all good. Surprised this hasn't bothered more people.

The amount of passes the movie gets is astounding.

After thinking about it... I don't think Snyder really likes Batman or Superman all that much

I think he "likes" Superman because of what he allows him to do stylistically but he doesn't particularly care for the character.

And I think he likes the general idea of Batman but felt like the film Batman has been a ***** for all these years and it's time he became a real man.

You don't have to "love" the characters, tbh i don't think most of these directors really have a true passion for the ethos of these guys.

So, can we talk about how this "fight" is really just Batman beating the **** out of Superman?

it felt like attitude era WWF boiler room match.

It was so lame when he picked up the top of the sink or toilet and hit in the head with it. It was like watching a lame wrestling video game. :x

Why the **** was he wasting time at that point when he had the Kryptonite spear?

Also after all the people Batman killed to get the god damn krypton why the **** does he just drop it like its a used Q-tip or something. :smh:
Sounds to me like you went into it with a critical eye. You gotta suspend some disbelief when a guy named Superman is fighting a guy named Batman.

I agree, there were some corny moments...but how entertaining would the fight have been if he just stabbed him? We all knew he wasn't going to.

He did right by Bats. But I just don't understand why he tries so hard to make Superman this mythical figure. All the aerial shots, the slow mo's. The adoring look on people's faces when they stare at him. It's a bit much.

Didn't need to read the article to figure that out.

Zik stated that Darkseid maybe the JL villain pages ago

To set the tone that humans are looking at him as a god. To illustrate that the lines would get blurred if we had a Superman flying around saving people from burning buildings.

I also think that's why Batman was so far off on the other end of the spectrum. Batman was brutal. I think that was a conscious decision to make the difference between these two dudes so glaring. For them to have completely different ideals.

No, I mean I understand what they were going for. Just don't understand why they have to do it. Why they'd want to do it. Just alienates the audience and makes it harder to relate.

But that makes less sense for a casual viewer because like Bruce, we'd all think that iron man, I mean Flash was referring to Superman not Darkseid. Even I was confused about the too soon stuff. I think that there's a difference between foreshadowing and just being outright confusing
I really think they figured 'it's a dream sequence, we can throw it all in there.'

It makes sense if you already know Flashpoint/Injustice. But man, was it messy. They should have waited or at least established Flash and his abilities in the universe
before he splits space and time to speak to Bruce.

Side note: Jason Mamoa.:pimp:

Yep, same ones from the MOS thread, wait til Zik actually sees the film when he's done giving opinions the last couple days without even watchin it yet. Then the trio will be complete and they can destroy scene after scene and come up with stupid *** why this, why that's like you can do for every movie in history.

I've seen this thread before. :rolleyes

Repped...

These dudes are in here every other post with a new reason why they hate the movie... We get it... You didn't like it..

We've known Darkseid was the JL villain for a while now, that's not the news.

A lot of people just didn't understand the context or really how to interpret that scene

This movie was so dope to me. I definitely understand the criticism but as a life long DC fan, for all its flaws, it was amazing.

Didn't realize that that was a Mother Box we saw in that scene. That Knightmare theory sounds plenty feasible. I'm most interested in the Flash at this point and whether or not his time travel will be the focus of the Darkseid movie.

What would you give BvS out of 8?

By that point I had already been through 2 hours of suspension of belief busting nonsense.

Saw this last night. It was cool but i HATED Eisenberg as Lex. Nearly everything i hated bout the movie was related to him in someway. Like Doomsday creation & first look mainly. They made Lex more crazy than smart too and by the looks of it he aint gon be anymore sane in the next movie smh

I don't watch movies often so imagine my disgust as I'm sitting through this piece of **** film where nothing makes sense. Only slightly enjoyed like the last 20 mins where that action came through.
It was cool watching batman shoot people but this movie is trash.

Only highlight is wonder woman who's so ******* sexy. That's the shorty from the fast and furious films. Damn she look good.

Fair point.

Didn't expect this movie to do these numbers even if the critics were praising it. Setting records! Insane. Just shows people love super hero mashup films man. Haven't seen it yet but I'm sure I'll enjoy it
