DC Studios THREAD - GunnVerse Begins - Chapter ONE: Gods & Monsters

Pretty impressed with the trailer, but that's not the hard part. I'm not being overly critical because I thought MOS had a lot of good things in the movie, but they might not have all come together like they should have and how they could have. So that'll be my initial concern with this movie as well. We see the great action set pieces, the iconic images and callbacks to the comics, the important and interesting themes it could address... so now we just have to bring it all together.

The trailer looked great, did it's job and got my excited for the movie, so now I'm just ready for it to deliver.
This.

Snyder always makes great "looking" films, but he's not exactly a great storyteller. Hate to beat a dead horse, but MoS could have easily been a great film. I'm not sure if Goyer or Nolan are to blame, but ultimately Snyder is the director and he needed to pull the reins on that third act (among other things). Hopefully he has learned and BvS rights the wrongs of MoS.

And as far as Lex goes, I'm not worried because I didn't even see "this" Lex:

And if you don't like the "red capes are coming" line, don't put that on Eisenberg, direct your vitriol to Terrio and Goyer, then ultimately Snyder.

Ok cool, I'll blame Goyer. I don't like him.

I'm most interested in how Jesse is gonna play Lex.

Will he basically be channeling his Social Network performance? CEO young gawd, no dambs given, always one step ahead, etc.?

I do have to say that all the people worshiping Superman or whatever it is they were doing, is a bit weird.

Kinda makes sense though. Bunch of poor or religious people looking for their "God" and then superman shows up? Actually kind of fitting they'd do that

Agreed with Blaster. You see this dude come out of nowhere with God like powers. Who wouldn't build a cult around him.

Exactly where I stand too.

MOS had a great teaser trailer and its subsequent trailers were good too. It just didn't deliver.

Hopefully BvS don't let me down lol

One of the things which I'm interested in seeing is the actual divide between human beings regarding Superman. IMO, it should really be 50/50, yet in the trailer it really makes it seem that the world is anti-Superman.

And in terms of Superman being portrayed as a god-like figure, as absurd as it may sound, it's really one of the easiest ways to ground the character. One of my favorite scenes in all the Superman films is actually in Singer's Superman Returns. There's a quick sequence where Supes' is flying between buildings during rush hour, and everyone stops in their tracks and looks up to the sky.

I don't know, I just can't see it going down like that. I'd like to think that we'd react to him in the same way Batman & Lex look at him. Along with people supporting the fact that he used his powers for good.

People do it for normal humans like celebrities lol of course they'll be a massive cult for Superman

Handsome white man with inexplicable powers descending from the heavens and you think people won't worship him? Cmon son.

I think those Superman followers is just like in TDKR but they reversed. IN TDKR, those guys were the Sons of Batman which follow ans tries to enforce his will without Bats approval, those guys could just like be those guys.

Speaking of Sons of Batman, some are speculating that the Red Son inspired costume might be part of that group since one it is Bats in daylight and two, he seems to have snapped someone neck a la Superman?
