they could/should just follow the plot of this movie for the aquaman movie (which had the black manta/orm combo).. but this is just beating a dead horse at this point after SS

Marvel probably just gonna schedule the BP sequel to prevent that if his contract doesn't keep that from happening
Assuming his character doesn't die in the first flick.
I mean hey if DC is gonna okay a Black Manta solo movie then cool.
Idris needs to be helming his own solos and be in multiple interconnected films.

I could understand why they didn't go with Ocean Master, might be too similar to the Thor-Loki dynamic.

No, they are just the side missions.
However, there are 4 DLC side missions involving Mad Hatter, Killer Croc, Mr. Freeze and Ra's Al Ghul. Individually, these missions are short, but do add a little value and playing time.

I think I'd be interested in an extended cut of the movie. I left out of the theater wanting more. That can be a good or a bad thing. I feel like this would do better as a television series. They tried to cram a lot of dofferent plot threads into it. Like the joker and Harley stuff could've been a lot longer and still interesting
The opening was a little fast paced and they got right into the thick of the conflict fairly fast. But then it slowed down to a good pace. I think it had a solid amount of joker. Could've had send maybe a little more.
Overall I think it was a solid / good movie that at least imo tried something different.

A Suicide Squad Netflix series
That would've made much more sense. The actual mission would be the season finale type episode and the rest of the series would've been the people's back stories and the establishing of the squadA Suicide Squad Netflix series
