DC Studios THREAD - GunnVerse Begins - Chapter ONE: Gods & Monsters

Lex Luthor is...JESSE EISENBERG
I dont see the logic in that.

Did they just confuse things? Because in the same article, I see Jeremy Irons playing Alfred. Seems completely ******g backwards

How do they not mention him being in Die Hard 3?

I'll say it now, I don't get Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did the execs get confused when they were hearing fans say Cranston/Heisenberg?

I think I'm done. Are they going for some boy genius Luthor? Do yall know what Jesse Eisenberg looks like bald?

Jeremy Irons is great in just about anything at this point but hell he'd make a better LL.

I don't think he'll be bald as Lex, as I posted in the other thread, he looks like a younger John Shea Luthor from the tv show.

Really not sure where they are going and I am not sure if Eisenbergs acting chops and the fact that he got nominated had something to do with casting but maybe they are going to make Lex like Zuckerberg? Is that evil enough?

The Jesse casting is so weird and out of the box that I can't even hate on it. I gotta wait till I see footage.

On the other hand, Jeremy Irons as Alfred is all kinds of badass :pimp: maybe they even take some elements of Earth One Alfred with this.

Jesse Eisenberg is a great actor, stop the pre judging

He is good and I can see him pulling a Ledger but I don't know, I kind of hav ehim typecast at the moment as the Zombieland guy.

Hard to fathom but I'm still optimistic.

I dont see Eisenberg pulling a Ledger and shocking people with stuff that no one has seen before. He's gonna act the way he's always acted and its not the interpretation of Luthor that people were expecting to see.

Agree wih danger style danger style that Irons would make a sick Alfred. As for Eisenburg, I'll reserve judgement from now. As rfx45 rfx45 mentioned, dude is a pretty good actor and I could see him pulling it off.

Batman/superman will either be the greatest CBM of all time or the worst, there will be no middle ground.

I'm really curious to see how they play this out now, in my mind lex should never physically confront kal anyway so...it might work

I still would've preferred Cranston or Neeson as lex

I meant pulling a Ledger as in proving people wrong, because you know the internet will explode with this news, might be even worse than Affleck as Batman.

Lex Luthor isn't a "Joker" type of character where you need someone to transform themselves to that point

Cranston would've been perfect.

I'm a little confused with the timeline they're trying to go for in this movie. Technically Superman and the rest of his "cast/family" are definitely portrayed to be younger. But then they wanted an older Batman. I'm not sure of what the age gap is going to be with Bats and Supes so I guess I'm just confusing myself in the process lol

Ugh, I said proving people wrong, not transforming into a completely different character to a point you are unrecognizable.

Ledger got a lot of crap for the casting and Eisenberg will get as much crap if not more and in the end, he can simply change their mind like Ledger did. That is the comparison I am making.

Again, not saying Eisenberg has to be this great and amazing transformation and portrayal that Ledger did, just show that he can be a Luthor that people see as a viable threat to Superman.

Acting wise I think Eisenberg can pull it off. But I don't think he can pull the look and feel of a Lex off...

Lex is suppose to have a big body presence around him..like a president! Dude is like 5'7"! Cavill is going dwarf him on screeen..and he looks young for his age...if they shave his head he'll look even younger

I'm really trying to see it but I can't. I figured they would go with a younger guy but Zuckerberg?

Hopefully he does surprise us like Ledger....

I dont see a surprise coming. He definitely has the acting chops to play the version of Luthor that is smart, cocky/arrogant, and ultimately a coward. Hell, Eisenberg got nominated for Best Actor for playing such a role so we know he can do it. If Eisenberg plays something different than what I described, I'll happily eat my words.

I was just expecting and hoping for a more menacing version of Luthor from the casting rumors that we got.

At first I was outraged about the Jesse Eisenburg casting but then I thought about it. It actually makes a lot of sense.

Someone mentioned this on another board: "Luthor today would be more like Zuckerberg, less like Jobs/Gates."

I can see this really working.

He's really good, I'm a fan but I've yet to see a movie from him where he doesn't have the same mannerisms/acting ticks in every role he plays. This at least is a great role for him to show his range but given what I've seen of him I can't say we'll be getting a great portrayal.

Jesse and Henry Cavill are actually the same age
Yeah but he looks prepubescent (plenty actors just have that youth about them cuz of their small stature and cherubic facial features). Jesse Eisenberg is gonna be able to play a teenager well in to his 40s word to ol girl from 90210.
