TDK is still the standard. The Joker argument has always been eh to me. Joker will always be as much if not more of a draw than Batman so that's expected. Go back and look at Batman '89.

IM1 isn't even close. Funny thing is RDJ's portrayal makes that whole movie. Without him we're not even talking about a shared universe.
 
The standard of what? What films adopted their model?

Only thing TDK did do was to show how dark these movies can be.
 
It's obvious that the Avengers is the standard. If it wasn't, then WB wouldn't be bothering with the shared universe model. They wouldn't be bothering with a Justice League movie.
 
Lol, I remember really liking Spawn as a kid. I can't remember how young I was. I haven't seen that movie in a long time.
 
That could use a soft-reboot. Maybe the success of Deadpool would get another Spawn film greenlit?
 
Spawn I think I liked haven't seen it since it first came out. I bought it at wal mart in the blu ray bin for 7 bucks recently. I remember it freaking me out when I first saw it.

Me too but looking back it definitely didn't do good sales wise.

The remake by it's owner McFarlane has the script in production development hell.

I think he's been hiding how hard it's been to get producers to give money and other stuff but that's secondary to him finishing the script.

He has hinted heavily he wants Jamie Foxx playing Al Simmons and Jamie is down but after while it won't matter if it takes too long.

IM was the standard before TDK so the bar wasnt low. Also Marvel was prepping their whole universe already so you cant say comic book movies would be a joke when Phase 1 had already started

The standard that a comic book movie didn't just have to be just a good comic book movie, it could just be a good movie in general. Story, plot, acting, drama, suspense. I mean if all you took away from the movie was that it was just "dark" I mean there's really nothing I can tell you.

It's the standard for making MONEY yes. The formula of throwing as many heros as possible on the screen is what's making the most money. As far as overall quality, come at me for saying this and I've said this before, outside the action scenes avengers wasn't that good.

I'm the biggest Spiderman fan but the first one was kinda bland. The second one was really good though and ranks among the top with IM1, Cap 2, Avengers, and GOTG.
