DC Studios THREAD - GunnVerse Begins - Chapter ONE: Gods & Monsters

Serious question, what villain would batman have previously faced that would have made it justifiable for him to be sceptical of superman?

Paraphrasing, but he says something along the lines of: "we've seen a lot of good men turn bad"

Who in batman's villain arsenal fits THAT bill?

Just went to see BvS for a second time so I could focus on the little things I missed the first time. Also made a point to try to catch the "plotholes" people were complaining about over the weekend (and four or five people here are STILL complaining about a week after it opened). Gotta say, the movie is pretty explicit in explaining just about everything people keep bringing up.

Assuming superman comes back..

If supes and Lois have a child, are they going to create another doomsday?

Good lord, what if supes and WW have a child????????

Only one comes to mind is Harvey Dent/Two-Face but it'd have to be a much more in depth grand scale epic story of his rise and fall from grace.

Keep in mind based off some source material. Bruce and Harvey were great friends (which gave him as Batman more incentive to do what he does and help out) before he started losing his mind and then got disfigured.

Jason Todd / Red Hood for sure. Harvey Dent / Two Face. Hush. Man-Bat. There are lots...

Red Hood, Hush (Technically he was always evil, but in his original origin he pretended to be friends with Bruce for 20 + years), Two-Face, Mr. Freeze, Clayface (If they want to go with an origin like The Batman, where he was friends with Bruce and an honest cop). Those are the ones off the top of my head.

Man-Bat? **** him. He's just the bat version of the Lizard.

Hush would **** with Bruce on a personal level but dude was never really a good guy that Bruce could say for sure. Just a childhood friend.

Again I'm unsure on Todd. All he does is kill criminals like Batman does now. He was angry at first and went at Bruce but when has Todd legit gone bad? :nerd: When he was ******* with Talia and the league?

I can't say there were tons of guys like that. There's villains who have sad sympathetic motives to their origins but they become twisted like Mr. Freeze.

Clayface got too many different origins for me to comment on.

So who on the list of names that any of you can come up with didn't have a traumatic event happen in their lives to essential justify a preemptive strike against the guy who literally just saved the world

it makes total sense for bruce (and lex) to put effort into developing anti superman plans

it makes no sense for our "hero" to spend the entire movie plotting to murder someone who has not done anything wrong. Like skipped straight past get to know what type of person he is and straight to cold blooded murder.

Maybe and I say this with a huge MAYBE but lets say Commissioner Gordon :nerd:

Maybe Babs became Batgirl, Bruce smashed, she got pregnant, and Joker killed her or crippled her and caused her to lose the baby? Gordon finds out about the miscarriage and with some detective work realizes Bruce Wayne is Batman and has recruited his daughter and then banged her?

I know from his perspective that's always been the BIGGEST betrayal for Batman to recruit Gordon's daughter and then put her in danger like that.

Maybe Gordon goes after him then? That way we can get JK throwing a chair at Batffleck

doesn't alfred imply that bruce has never found a girl to settle down with?

Huh? The traumatic event thing is the key to like 99.999% of all comic book stories (or any mythological tale, for that matter). And Bruce's point is that if there's a 1% chance a traumatic event can cause Supes to go ham on earth, he needs to be stopped. It's almost analogous to our real-world state of affairs. If there's a 1% chance Iraq could state-sponsor terrorism, the US had to invade. Or so said/believed the Bush admin in '02-'03.

Bruce never settles down. He just bang *******.

Notice in this movie, in one of the scenes where Battfleck wakes up out of bed there's a naked woman asleep

From the comic or cartoon, Bruce smashes Barbara at a time when he's working with Batgirl when Grayson is gone and she gets pregnant. Son has no reaction when she tells him she's pregnant

So don't confuse knocking chicks up for settling down.

Actually there are just some bad people in the world.. Misguided individuals who are too stupid to even know better and follow those bad people.. Plain ole sheep

Then you have the corrupt... Crap happens in the world.. And not everyone needs a traumatic event to trigger it..

And not everyone has some sort physiological illness that triggers their insane behavior

i mean knocking up a girl who you spend every day training/fighting crime with and pretty much live together is pretty close to settling down

batman has preptime but is lacking pullout time? he knew what he was doing in knocking her up

I'm thinking Joker beat/blew up Jason Todd about 5-10 years back, and Batman went after Joker for revenge. Maybe he dropped Joker, maybe he didn't. But I'm betting JT came back as Red Hood after Bats got whatever vengeance he was after and caused Bruce to completely re-evaluate what he'd been doing the whole time and how he went about his crime-fighting. I know that I can't wait to see how it all works out, though. Just seeing all these variations on classic (modern) stories played out on the big screen is really cool to me as a Batman fan.

wouldnt getting to know who superman is as a person be a HUGE part of determining if he has 1% chance of destroying the world?

 Nah b. Those 9/11 terrorists were mostly Saudi Arabian. Bush made no moves on them. He invaded Iraq on a lie about WMDs not sponsoring terrorism. Hell if I remember right even Sadaam spoke down on the 9/11 attacks and terrorism. However, after dismantling the region completely the war has created a potential hot spot to now sponsor and produce terrorists.

Not to mention Bruce's speech about a 1% chance and the events in the movie never line up. It never makes sense for what really prompts him to train, make the weapons, and call Supes out especially after realizing it's Lex that's been mocking him the entire time.

Snyder spends the first part of this podcast explaining some of the questionable ****

He say something early on that bothers me. Basically Lex figures out Superman's identity fairly easy because he's not an idiot but Batman isn't able to put it together because he just doesn't care

Maybe listen to him talk for 2 secs before you attack him..

Maybe he could have informed him that his mother Martha was being held by lex.. But then you don't get the whole fight

Just curious do you have a gf? If so are you as critical about movies with women?

I mean dude if I thought like you life would be pointless . You find negatives in everything or maybe you're selective in your negativity?

I know in Batman Beyond they made it seem like there might've been a romantic relationship there and Grayson was jealous and had a falling out with Bruce but what I'm referencing here Bruce seemed to just smash cuz Babs was there.

If she wasn't he probably would've smashed Catwoman or some random model as Bruce Wayne.

Truuuue. I actually always liked the "born bad" villains more than the "became bad" ones. Pure evil dudes always creep me out and seem to be more fun to watch interact with heroes.
