Nah their animation department isn't slept on. WE all know its LEAGUES ahead of Marvel's animation.
Same with Live Action TV. Flash is the best comic book show that wasn't netflix based. Their movie division is what's lacking but we all hope that changes because having both companies putting out good material is nothing but win for us the fans

Really, really doubt that is the reason. If that were the case then they wouldn't have gone face to face with BvS for release day next year. I also do not buy the excuse that they have nothing to show, even if they are not finished filming CW they could definitely put up a 30 second snippet (hell they've done it w/o a single reel from AoU) and have Evans and RDJ come out with BP again and announce the new Spidey (if he doesn't have to report til July but they'd have hired him by SDCC). Hell reveal who Cap Marvel and Inhumans are or have James Gunn reveal that secret character. Or reveal the characters costumes, it should be enough to get people to freak out, DC did it with a simple WW and Supes costume reveals. Marvel could do so much if they really wanted to.
As much as I want to give DC credit for instilling fear into Marvel, I just do not see it.

Eh, Marvel monitors everything that happens online and I am sure they know that anything DC reveals gets pretty much a 50/50 reaction, from the SS costumes, to Joker tats, WWs costume, Batmobiles guns, etc... hell even the BvS trailer. 
So I am not sure that is something to be feared by Marvel.
So while DCs panel looks impressive, seems like bringing in their own big guns are just as impressive and will be ridiculed less.

Didn't Marvel do their own event to announce IW and stuff? Maybe they thought doing those events are better than going to CC kinda like how some gaming companies don't go to E3 anymore but host their own event.

Well if they do make Despero human, that seems like DC movie interpretation (which then transforms later on?), he has red facial hair and his head tattoo looks awfully similar to Desperos ear and head fin.

Name may sound ridiculous but if you really think about it, it's all in line with the other names out there. Spider-MAN, Super-MAN, Bat-MAN, Ant-MAN, Squirrel GIRL, Human Torch, etc... It really isn't as bad as some other ridiculous names like Matter Eater Lad, Arm Fall Off Boy, Fruit Boy and Super Slave.
