I don't lace because it helps prevent creasing.
I loosely knot my laces similar to the way not laces are knotted when you fist pull them out the box.
EDIT: Dress shoes, casual shoes get tied. This is only the case with basketball shoes.

maybe the big difference between people who tie or don't tie are the people who ball / run / go to the gym and the people who don't ball / don't run / don't go to the gym?

That's what I've concluded. People who actually use athletic shoes for athletics tie their shoes. While out of shape guys who've never participated on any sort of athletic event who wear no show socks and have Kankles don't.

i like the way it looks better, honestly... haven't tied my sneakers in 20+ years.
