***OFFICIAL NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS SEASON THREAD*** (13-4) - Patriots @ Broncos - Sun 3:05PM EST - Bra

funny because i love when the pats play on thanksgiving.. in brady era, we've won all of 'em. nothing like a gameday especially on turkey day with the pats playing, beers, food, family. doesn't get better than that IMO!

Thanksgiving at Jerry world would be lit!! Giving them 2 straight Turkey day beatdowns at home would be :smokin. Rooting for Pittsburgh to be the opening day opponent, what a way to kick off the new year that'd be.

On the personnel front, anyone heard the rumours of the teams interest in Harvin should the Jets cut him loose? :nerd:. Not sure how exactly that would work with the current cap situation but I'd definitely welcome him with open arms should it somehow happen

Rumors of Pats using the franchise tag on Gostkowski instead of McCourty. That means they're signing McCourty to a long term contract, right? :frown:

I'd like to think so. I see them doing this since the cap hit on a Kickers FT is a lot lower than it would have for D-Mac so this should hopefully help with either Revis' contract or D-Mac's. Anyone know when free agency officially starts?

Thanks DSA.

I'd like to think that the reason for tagging Gostkowski would be because the team is confident that they can agree on a long term deal with D-Mac. If not then I'd be scratching my head, hopefully they make it work cause losing both Revis AND D-mac would be a disaster

the more i read about it, the more nervous i get about keeping D-Mac

he's at the top of the free agent list for safeties. going rate is 8-10M per year for a guy like him according to what i read. so given that, i dunno. franchise tag would have been like 9.5M or so. and i know you can get creative with bonuses and whatever, but if they're not willing to do 9.5M for a year...what are the chances of 8-10M for multiple years? i dunno. teams are definitely going to throw cash his way. hopefully we find a way to make him happy.

I feel the same man along with all the interest drumming up for him as a result of him getting passed up for the tag

.

The interest is going to be there and I don't know how close they'd be to an extension if the team's doesn't even seem comfortable paying $9+ for his tag. Things are definitely gonna be heating up this week,I just hope he stays. He even said himself that he couldn't see himself playing elsewhere so get it done Bill!

I'm also nervous that there hasn't been much Revis talk with free agency fast approaching...

Are the Bills a QB away from being a threat to the Patriots in the AFC East or are they already a threat with McCoy?

*impatiently waits for breaking news regarding the new deals for Revis and McCourty*

yes...BUT...as of right now, there is no real option for them to get a good QB. so we're good

need Revis to return tho :nerd:

Im not worried about the Bills until they have a QB as well ,granted that they are improving fast.

Speaking of the AFC East, someone tell me how the Jets still haven't been charged with tampering? Their owner was openly and publicly talking about pursuing Revis during the season.

im not going to freak out about McCourty or Revis . there is a lot of hear say going on right now

looking back over the past 5+ years , there have been a ton of players that the Patriots let go that infuriated me at first , but ended up not being a big deal or too detrimental to the team

Welker
Thompkins cut
Talib
Mankins trade
Seymour
Asante Samuel
Moss

all that being said , i still feel good about the Patriots bringing both Revis and McCourty back next year . but regardless, ive learned for the most part by now to trust the Patriots and their roster decisions

I would tend to agree as NE has made transactions that left me like :smh:

With that being said, even though repeating as champions is so difficult in today's NFL and the last team to actually do it was NE, they have an excellent chance to do so subject to them retaining arguably two of the best DBs in the NFL. Losing one of them would be tough, losing both would leave me like :smh: again.

But yeah, I feel confident they'll both be back

In the hoody we trust.

^ interesting. i don't know much about him. wonder how high he's projected to go

Interesting indeed. Most projections have him going late in the 1st round to the middle of the 2nd. He posted some great numbers at the combine and is a big, tall and strong deep target.

Even given BB's less than impressive history of drafting WR's,I'd like to see them draft one this year given all the talent coming in at that position. I've grown particularly fond of the SEC trio of Coates/Conley/DGB.

BB could've also been keeping an eye on Auburns 2 solid runners in Artis-Payne and Corey Grant
