***OFFICIAL NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS SEASON THREAD*** (13-4) - Patriots @ Broncos - Sun 3:05PM EST - Bra

^ i'd be down for anyone that can get to the QB, man. that pass rush is still a huge area of weakness.

have you heard anything about us being connected to ayers?

Haven't really heard anything yet about it but I was just looking at the list of remaining free agent DLmen left outside of Allen since he's asking for 10+ mil a year :x. Thought Ayers might be interesting and he's the youngest.

If anything Shaun Phillips on a short contract might also be interesting.

yeah that makes sense. i think an edge rusher or DL as a final move would complete a great free agency period for us

should improve the edge rushing just by adding darrell revis

a few mocks up until now have us taking louis nix III that would be awesome in regards to getting pressure also

still have to address center , maybe another interior guard , defensive line and receiver if

this team is going to seriously contend next year .....and if they dont grab any receivers or

tight ends in free agency or the draft then im gonna suggest keeping gronkowski in some

kind of protective bubble until the playoffs

Patriots Could Still Be In The Market For Another Receiver

Ian Rapoport reports that even though the Patriots re-signed WR Julian Edelman earlier today, there are expected to be in the market for another a receiver.

We posted our Top 50 Available Free Agents list not too long ago, which includes eight receivers.

Emmanuel Sanders, Santonio Holmes, James Jones, Sidney Rice, Brandon LaFell, Kenny Britt, Lance Moore and Miles Austin are all available right now.

The Patriots have shown interest in Sanders in recent years, but recent reports mentioned that some teams have medical concerns regarding his feet.

LaFell visited with the team, so there is some interest there. The Panthers are reportedly discussing an extension with him, but it would be that hard to price Carolina out of the bidding for him.

Rice and Britt both offer size and upside, which is something that the Patriots could probably use now that they have Danny Amendola and Edelman back for next season.

Looks like WR Kenny Britt who visited Rams recently is going to be meeting with NE tomorrow. Report comes from Ian Rapoport @RapSheet

Not sure how i feel about this move if it goes down. He's got the athletic ability, but his off field issues aren't just the regular run of the mill issues that the Pats seem able to always calm down.

On the other side, we just picked up Browner who wont be on the field for the first 4 games of the next season due to his suspension.

Thoughts?

EDIT: Britt is a Rutgers guy? Looks like he'll end on on the Pats afterall lol

seems like Broncos and Jets lost out on B. LaFell and Denver pulled the trigger on E. Saunders from Steelers

as per T. Curran, WR Brandon LaFell will sign a 3 year with the Patriots! Who is Cam throwing to next season?

Not bad, could always use the added size at receiver, you guys know if Britt is still scheduled to visit today? I know that it was reported before the Lafell deal so not sure if he's still coming. I'd still prefer him as a reliable deep threat a little more than Lafell but Lafell has the plus of always being healthy and not missing games. Anyways happy to see them beefing up the receiving corps withh some taller receivers :pimp:.

Any update on the Wilfork situation btw?

This is sizing up to be like the 2007 off-season with more focus on the D

Man i'm so HYPED about this season coming up. The secondary is about to be of epic proportions and i'm just hoping for health this year.

greg bedard made an interesting point today on LaFell...paraphrased:

"LaFell was forced to play the slot in Carolina, which was not a good fit for him at all. He's a lot more effective outside, and so his perceived struggles in Carolina shouldn't be nearly as big of a deal in NE where he'll play outside."

With all this (well deserved) hype about the Patriots off-season acquisitions thus far, at the end of the day, the key to the Patriots winning the Super Bowl is going to be Gronkowski.

He HAS to be and stay healthy this year. He is the x-factor. I believe he is the best player in the NFL not named Tom, Peyton, or Aaron. I really do. He has GOAT TE potential. Dude averages like a TD catch a game :smh:

The season is so far away yet I cant stop thinking about the Pats.

amen, brotha :pimp:

and agreed...we go as far as gronk goes to a degree. the size we'll have down in the redzone with gronk, KT, AD, lafell, and a potential rookie TE will be damn near unstoppable IMO
