***OFFICIAL NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS SEASON THREAD*** (13-4) - Patriots @ Broncos - Sun 3:05PM EST - Bra

With all this (well deserved) hype about the Patriots off-season acquisitions thus far, at the end of the day, the key to the Patriots winning the Super Bowl is going to be Gronkowski.

He HAS to be and stay healthy this year. He is the x-factor. I believe he is the best player in the NFL not named Tom, Peyton, or Aaron. I really do. He has GOAT TE potential. Dude averages like a TD catch a game :smh:

The season is so far away yet I cant stop thinking about the Pats.

def agree with you my dude, he has the most receiving TD of any TE in their first 4 seasons...how many games has he missed?

THE Gronk = GOAT TE

Whats this i hear that we're interested in Desean Jackson?
pimp.gif

id take him over amendola any day

i'm sure it's just another Revis type situation. teams around the league hear he's available and make inquiries, but realistically many of them know they don't really have a chance to land him. still it doesnt hurt to throw you name in the hat. similar to the Revis situation in that he said approx 26 teams were interested, but we all know of that bunch there is no way all 26 knew thought they had a chance to get him.

brady haing a burner (jackson) on the outside, power down the seams (gronk) and the others like MINItron, Amendola, the second year guys to make up the remaining receiving core would be :smokin

I'd take Wayne Chrebet over Amendola.

lol, this was just wrong. dude was clutch though

the moves weve made over the past week :smokin

feel really good about what we've done . the only needs i feel the team still should address are at the TE and DL positions . there have been grumblings about us being interested in Jared Allen , but i dont we could afford him . regarding TE , i think we can snag a solid 2nd behind gronk in the draft

we also need to add depth to our OL , which id want to also rely on through the draft

I can't lie I used to **** on Edelman early on because he was so damn injury prone but dude has did it all over the years returned kicks, played corner, and stepped up last year as the #1 receiver, he def earned that pay day :smokin

ive always loved Edelman . dude was a bit injury prone but is all purpose . dude was starting as DB for this team 3 years ago for crying out loud

LaFell's all in ; love his attitude coming into NE
:smokin

LaFell: Tom Brady's presence a clincher

Wide receiver Brandon LaFell, who signed a three-year, $9 million contract with the New England Patriots, held a conference call with reporters Wednesday.

After reporters had finished asking questions, LaFell asked if he could say one additional thing.

At that point, he thanked reporters for their time, then mentioned owner Robert Kraft and the rest of the organization, and how appreciative he was of them taking a chance on him when they could have signed anyone else.

“I am going to give everything I got,” he said.

A few other takeaways from LaFell’s conference call:

Why he signed with the Patriots:
LaFell said getting the ball more, winning, and the chance to play with a Hall of Fame quarterback were primary factors in his decision to come to New England. His former club, the Panthers, was also a winning team, but LaFell said the draw of Tom Brady was significant. “One day Cam [Newton] will be there, probably, but he’s not there now,” LaFell said of Hall of Fame status. “I feel like it was a better chance to come up here and get more balls and win than it was in Carolina. Nothing against those guys. It’s a great organization and those guys are going to win, but it’s proven up here, man. We were winning last year in Carolina. These guys were winning up here the last 10-plus years. So why not come to a winning organization?”

More on Brady:
LaFell told reporters that when the team was watching film of the Patriots last year in advance of a Nov. 18 game, Brady’s accuracy was hard to miss. “No matter what route they ran, no matter how the guy was on him, they just put their hands out and the ball was always in the perfect placement,” he said. “When you have a guy who can pinpoint the ball like he does, it’s great.” LaFell said he has yet to speak with Brady, as Brady has been out of the country and they’ve exchanged text messages.

Reflecting on last year’s game vs. Patriots:
LaFell agreed with the outside opinion that his performance against the Patriots last year was one of his best. Asked to reflect on that effort, he shared some of the Panthers’ mindset that night, and how they focused on attacking any Patriots cornerback outside of Aqib Talib.

Ridley’s excitement shines through:
LaFell’s former teammate at Louisiana State, running back Stevan Ridley, was surprised to initially learn that LaFell was coming to town. LaFell then relayed what Ridley said: “He was like, ‘Bro, we have a bunch of young guys that play a lot of good ball, but we need another veteran that will step in and help those young guys grow. You can be one of those [final] pieces for us in taking this thing to the next level. I’ll tell you, just like I tell anybody else, you have to come up here and be able to sacrifice your off-the-field life for the things you have to do -- put in extra time in film and extra work after practice.’ He kept saying the word sacrifice. And hard work. He said if you’re committed to do that with the rest of those guys, you’ll fit in and help us win games.”

Picking jersey No. 19:
LaFell, who wore No. 11 in Carolina, was deciding between jersey numbers 10 and 19 with the Patriots (Julian Edelman wears No. 11). He went with No. 19. “When I think of No. 10, I think of quarterbacks -- I thought about Vince Young, I thought about RG III. So I didn’t want to be in that mind frame of a quarterback. Me and my boy Ted Ginn are real good friends, and I decided to wear the 19 like he does.”

I can't lie I used to **** on Edelman early on because he was so damn injury prone but dude has did it all over the years returned kicks, played corner, and stepped up last year as the #1 receiver, he def earned that pay day :smokin

same here...he exceeded my expectations last year and was the ONLY consistent weapon brady had

Apparently we are wanting to bring in Knowshon Moreno rather than Blount according to Jerry Thornton

When I saw coach hoodie at the Florida vs. Pitt game, I just felt like he was scouting Patrick Young for a tight end position...

He was/is definitely injury prone he looked pretty good last year tho, rushed for a 1000 yards for the first time and had 10 td's. He also had 60 rec's 548 yards and had 3 td's receiving

He did have a big fumble in the SB but he only fumbled once in the regular season

I like Blount also tho especially because he can double on special teams

I want Blount back.

Dude went off for us :pimp:

few things to discuss:

mos def want to see Blount back in a Pats jersey...dude played himself into another contract so i'm surprised he hasnt been snatched up...mind you the market for RB is not like other positions

what do y'all think of the news coming out that Pats have planned meeting with MJD? personally, do not want him here, we have that versatility already with our RB group

what about the reports of big Vince storming out of the Pats facilities after ripping off his name plate on his locker? :smh: i really thought Wilfork was one of those guys who would be more flexible for the big picture of his career...his legacy as one of the Pats greats would not be questioned if he sticks around...the other thing is, how can he himself not want to play next year here despite having to restructure to play with Mayo back healthy and that revamped Def in general

Depending on what happens with Blount I wouldn't be mad about Knowshon or MJD

My main gripe with our running back core specifically Ridley and Blount are those damn fumbles
mean.gif

These ****** have legit problems man Ridley with 9 in 3 seasons, Blount with 12 in 4 seasons
sick.gif

I love the versatility with Ridley, Blount as the power back and Vereen catching both out the backfield and lining up out outside but these dudes need to work on ball security

Just hearing the reports of Vince cleaning out his locker

Nostalgia aside, they don't need Vince. I'm sure Mr. Kraft wants him on the roster but from a football standpoint, they'll be fine without him. We aren't even sure if dude is any good anymore ..

Can't even lie,the thought of having a 6'5,240 pound outside threat to add to this offense has me giddy . Hoping that Nix Or Hagman drop to the 2nd if they decide on going for Benjamin and he's available.

Apparently the team's talking to Wilfork again, hopefully something gets worked out,if not it's been real big Vince :\. They're also apparently thinking of moving Ryan to FS and moving McCourty to SS. I think that that could probably be a good fit for both. That would eliminate the need of signing an extra safety and free up the logjam at CB.
