***OFFICIAL NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS SEASON THREAD*** (13-4) - Patriots @ Broncos - Sun 3:05PM EST - Bra

yeah they're definitely going to have to mix it up. i can see them going with:

Revis on Cobb
Browner on Jordy with McCourty helping over the top and preventing that deep throw.
Arrington will definitely need to play a big role as well. Helping out when Cobb is in the slot.

bigger issue will be getting to Rodgers. he can move. he can run. he can create time for his guys to get open. really need to get to him quick. i know it's a long shot, but Chandler going next week would be amazing. not counting on it though.

That scumbag Raiola(51) took another cheapshot at Moore a few plays before the cut block. Looks like he punched him in the helmet after he got passed him

I find it pretty convenient that he chose to act out against a rookie and not do anything when Big Vince was in the game instead,Belichick served him with some ether after though  :smokin

You know what's crazy? The front 7 have done a better job of pressuring the QB AFTER losing Chandler Jones. I was thinking about that **** last week. You'd think we were doomed in that area once he went down, but Nink stepped up big time and Akeem Ayers has filled in admirably. Credit to the coaching staff for mixing it up and using creative looks to mask the lack of a pure pass rusher.

But the most important aspect IMO...and this can't be overstated...is how it all really starts with our secondary. Revis eliminating an option, Browner disrupts routes and frustrates a bigger body with help on the back end, Arrington at the slot where he's best at, and now it's left to Ryan/Dennard/Butler to cover the 4's and 5's of the world. The opposing QB has to keep going through his reads and...BOW. The line of scrimmage is in shambles, and he's trying to scramble out of Ayers or Nink's grasp. That's what happens when you have great depth in that group and the shackles from early in the season are OFF.

Revis has been worth every *******g penny, man. Bill has been able to do more with this defense than he has at any other time since the dynasty years. Acquiring Talib in 2012 and having him here for a 1.5 seasons finally got him to realize how valuable a shutdown CB is in this league. I kid you not, we're not able to do 60% of the **** we're doing on defense if it's not for Revis and the domino effect he has on that side.

I don't want to think too far ahead, but I've been mentally prepared for the battle of wills this offseason between Revis the business mercenary vs. Kraft & Belichick. I'm at the point now where it's a ******g iron-clad requirement they back up the Brinks truck and pay that man his money.

. I really miss seeing Moss in a Pats uniform. That deep ball to him was almost unstoppable, the one handed catch over Revis they were talking about is still one of the best I've ever seen

.

It's gonna be one of the saddest days when Brady eventually retires [emoji]128546[/emoji]

*Edit: Agreed about Revis,he's really reinvigorated this entire unit along with Browner. BB can now do multiple different things with his schemes each game now that he couldn't in years past as a result of finally having the proper personnel to execute them. I know that Kraft doesn't like to break the bank but if there's a single player that has earned it it's Revis. I can't imagine how much different the defense would look without him back there.

I'm also pretty surprised at how good the pass rush has been after those key injuries. Ayers has proven to be a pretty big and effective pick up for the team and Nink has been in the form of his life the last couple of weeks. Even Hightower has been pretty reliable. I'm psyched to see how it's gonna look once Chandler gets back

^^ dope interview...was meaning to youtube that one. thanks for posting it.

revis has been such a game changer. i knew dude was good, but i had my doubts as far as HOW good he can be. but since they've let him just line up and play man, good god. the guy can just stick with people, break up passes, and do all of that without penalties. he's unreal to watch. and agreed that he's been the guy that has not only allowed the secondary to look amazing but also the guy that has made our pass rush look better. i still don't think we're firing off the edge and getting to the QB consistently within 2.5-3 seconds outside of a couple of those ayers sacks. but QBs are holding balls and guys like Nink are taking advantage. PAY THE MAN!

I agree with everything

I touched a lil on the schemes Patricia/BB were able to come up with in that game v Den without Mayo/Jones and they seem to have continued the creativity. Props to the coaching staff first and foremost, additional props to the players in executing their assignments. Ayers and Branch have both been welcome additions, our scouting personnel :pimp:

It really does start with our strong secondary tho (when's the last time we been able to say that?). We saw last year what they were able to do with Talib and ESPECIALLY how it looked when he would leave the game :x  now we're able to do even more. With Revis and Browner on opposite sides, Arrington in the slot, and Ryan/Dennard/Butler we have some of the best depth we've had in a looooong time.

Revis started out kinda slow with them switching up coverages, etc but this dude has been on fire the last couple weeks. PFF said that was his best game since 2011. You can tell he puts in the work cause a lot of the times he runs the route before the receivers like on that pick against the Vikings

Man I hope they pay this dude  I'm glad he was able to get this one year in the system so that it won't be like they're bringing out the money bags for an outsider

These past couple weeks have been fun as hell breh's we haven't had a run like this in a minute. The Bears game was supposed to be the start of the tough stretch but we've made it look kinda easy out scoring our opponents 148-73 so far.

I do think the upcoming stretch will be tough tho, back to back on the road against Pack and Chargers followed by a Dolphins team that's playing well and always plays us tough, followed by a Jets team looking for their "Super Bowl" win with essentially nothing else to play for

Hopefully the momentum continues

not to get back into this again...but do you think from a dollars standpoint it's going to become Revis or Brady at the end of this year? i hope it doesn't, but that talk from earlier in the year has me a bit concerned about it. i wonder how Brady will look at the situation...will he play this out or ask for what's he's been due? will it be impacted by Revis? it's down the road, but it has me worried. i'm not ready to see Brady in another uniform

Brady is due $7 mil or something right? I mean it'd be nice for him to stay at that salary and then pay Revis the $25 mil or whatever he's due.

Y'all put me on to F&M and they made a good point that Revis has been a huge difference maker on this D. You can throw Revis 1 on 1 with a WR, have McCourty play centerfield and that opens up Chung to play closer to the line instead of covering. They have to keep Revis if Brady doesn't ask for big money.

And imagine if the Pats have a healthy Mayo and Jones...

DSA. nah man. Tom will honor his contract and guy made millions and millions already in his career. he's well off to say the least. doesn't even count the endorsements he's pulling in. and.....his chick makes more than him lol. Tom knew what he was doing when he signed that because his priority first and foremost is winning and its just a bonus that he makes all that dough. He's a damn class act, and he already has said this few times, "we're all overpaid" and he means it. I dont think revis will want to ask too much. IMO, something in the range he's making right now, maybe a bit more. Now, he's seeing how BB runs this organization and I think revis and BB will come halfway and agree to something that works for both of them especially now that Revis got a taste of how a top notch organization is run and he even said that this group of secondary is the best he's been part of. Winning organization (coach and owner), great work atmosphere, great QB to compete against (in practice to get better) and more than not he'll get at least close what he's asking for and a great group of secondary to be part of. What's not to like?

I mean Darrelle knows this better than anyone, he's seeing it all in his eyes up front, how this team operates, not just in the locker room but business-wise. I think he will fall in the line of accepting a more team friendly deal that's constructed very carefully but at the same time get his money, similiar to wilfork, brady, etc...

^ i hope so, man. really do. i wouldn't blame him if he asked for more to be honest. things have worked out so far, but the money he deferred was supposed to be used to bring in some studs on offense. he's been able to make it work despite that.

but if there's anyone that would play out that contract, it's him. so i hope you're right.

Bedard today said Collins is playing MLB at a Pro Bowl/All Pro level right now. that's lofty praise. even if exaggerated, says a TON about how Collins has stepped up to fill the void left by Mayo.

Sorry man. I legit laughed out loud.

Darrelle Revis is a different beast on AND off the field. I'll leave it at that.

As for Brady, I've never been entirely convinced he's playing for those dollars. And why should he anyway? All that Patriots Way stuff sounds sweet and cool, but they've already ****** him in the past and he understands now more than ever it's a business.

With both those guys, so much of it will depend on how the team finishes in the playoffs. A disastrous one-and-out? Another AFC Title game? Their first SB win in 10 years? MVP for Brady or Revis? The higher this team advances, the more leverage each player gains in the offseason.

Bob Kraft has always cared about his image and how the franchise is portrayed. If Revis isn't back here in 2015 due to money, the Welker & Amendola situation will be NOTHING compared to the hell that awaits them from critics.

If you're asking me what I think today...I think they'll both return. We'll see how it goes though.
