***OFFICIAL NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS SEASON THREAD*** (13-4) - Patriots @ Broncos - Sun 3:05PM EST - Bra

Has he just not been healthy all year when he has played or was a lot of it because of losing the ball early in the season? I really was expecting another big year out of him.

we've been running the ball more predictably this year and with our passing game struggling, teams can play the run. also, we haven't had big leads to protect, so we haven't been using him (or anyone) as a clock killer in the 2nd half of games.

and then first game he fumbled twice and immediately got benched. came back next week or two, got banged up. but we''ll see how it goes. i think at the goal line, if he's active, he's the guy. and when gronk comes back, we should run better down there.

WEEI.com reports the Patriots originally expected Rob Gronkowski (back, forearm) back as early as Week 3, but that he's been held out due to "concern over the stability of the surgically repaired right forearm."

Per "multiple sources with direct knowledge" of the situation, Gronk's initial arm break would have healed without surgery, but the sides opted to go under the knife to speed his return. The setbacks that have followed since are common knowledge, but WEEI reports there remains "serious" concern about the "integrity of the bone where the implement was placed and the surrounding nerves." It's unclear how much of that concern was alleviated by Dr. James Andrews' recent clearance. Gronk is still expected to make his 2013 debut this weekend.

:smh:

how long does a ******g bone break take to heal?

New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, recovering after a series of surgeries on his fractured forearm and ailing back, still has not been cleared to play by Dr. James Andrews, according to ESPN and media reports. Moreover, there was less optimism Friday that he will play Sunday against the New Orleans Saints than there was earlier in the week.

Andrews is serving as an independent physician charged by the team and player with determining whether Gronkowski is cleared to play. Andrews is considered the most accomplished orthopedic surgeon in the world, but he didn't operate on Gronkowski.
Gronkowski also still has not been cleared by Dr. Jesse Jupiter, who performed the latest forearm surgery on Gronkowski, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

well...maybe the following week? :smh:

in all honesty, if his arm hasn't healed fully, i'm good with sitting him. last thing we need is him coming back and breaking it again and being done for the year. NO, NYJ, MIA, PIT, BYE...if they're holding him out until the bye week, we can at least keep afloat. i hope

can't we like direct line milk to his arm bones with an IV (thanks Fraij) or something? does he have early stage osteoporosis?

people are apparently beginning to panic about this arm issue...radio is full of people thinking Armageddon is near

i traded ray rice for him this week in my fantasy league after julio jones went out for the year , i regret nothing

Gronkowski :smh:

I realize his fam wants him to take his time and rightfully so, but just as DSA said ; how long does a
Broken arm take to heal? Dude is 23 years old  is his body really THAT fragile? He midas whale suit up and get out there . At the very least he could be a decoy. We need his presence in the red zone.

How could the Pats FO miss so terribly on Gronk and Hernandez? Neither of these dudes were worth a big time contract apparently :smh:

I still love Gronk as a player but this just doesnt feel right to me :smh:

This is a HUGE game, as they all are. He should be out there IMO. Just gotta wait and see i suppose.

i don't think the FO missed on gronk, yet at least. they're protecting their investment. i don't hate the decision to take it slow, but i am frustrated by it.

it isnt the FO's decision at this point ; its the decision of this independent doctor that Gronk has hired

i think it's a little of both. they obviously want him back...but they're not going to force him back either. even the team doctor hasn't cleared him. so they're not pressuring him like how they probably did last year versus houston.
