***OFFICIAL NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS SEASON THREAD*** (13-4) - Patriots @ Broncos - Sun 3:05PM EST - Bra

Welp, first time coming back into this thread after that poor showing/non show in the AFC Championship game

Very proud of what the team/organization accomplished this year. i truly feel majority of teams in this league if not for the heart/passion/competiveness of mainly our coach and qb would have just wrote the year off with so many setbacks

Time to look forward to next year seeing as though we are in the off season and know BB is already planning for next years run.

Few things, I can't get over 2013 just yet without posting some nice gifs, so i'll be back later with those. Second, heard about that intern ring going up for auction, but since it's just a team employee ring and not the one the players received that would explain the current price. Lastly, who thought it was hilarious to find out Brady, BB and Peyton got matched up for round of golf play recently :smokin

Proud of my boys...heal up and reload...

No qb in the league can do what Brady did this season

Yup, can't deny the obvious. Brady, for the majority of the season, was working with a bunch of NOBODIES. A bunch of bums who just had a lot of heart, will, & determination.

I just want 1 more ring...

DIE HARD PATS FAN ... ALL DAY, ALL THE WAY !!!

And Patriots are releasing safety Steve Gregory, per @FieldYates.

Jeff Howe ‏@jeffphowe 3m
The financial aspect made Gregory an obvious candidate to get cut. Pats loved him, though, referring to him as something of a player coach.

yeah i mean he was a good player and pretty reliable, but the fact of the matter is that we really need a couple play makers back there.

 that'd be a bold move but i would never put it past them. coming off that injury along with is age and size...who knows what he can bring to the table. but they need a real replacement if they cut him.

A bold move yes because hes an important locker room guy but IMO its a no brainer.

I love Vince but hes replaceable. Hes old. Hes a big body and not much more.

His cap hit is like ten million

To extend/restructure him is just delaying the inevitable. I think we should cut ties with him.

I could see Wilfork getting a deal similar to Suggs

I hope some kind of way we come away with a third pass rusher considering how much we play in the sub

Jared Allen? :nerd:

Word is the Pats are trying to trade Amendola for a 5th rounder

AKA give him away . I hope this happens; but it probably won't . Maybe Danny will be motivated to step it up this year after hearing his name thrown around in regards to being cut/traded. No way the Pats cut him, so if they're stuck with him, hopefully he lives up to his contract. After preseaon and Week 1, I was sure Danny would have a good year. :smh:

I wonder if Edelman is signing. This is probably his only chance to get Riley Cooper money.

Edelman definitely signing if the Pats are trying to unload Amendola. i think it further reinforces the fact that NE loves the TE and receiver depth in this draft.

hopefully someone bites on Amendola. looking at you, Denver

Aqib Talib reportedly wants big contract from Patriots

Chris Wesseling
Around the League Writer

The New England Patriots and free-agent cornerback Aqib Talib are at an impasse.

Owner Robert Kraft has stated his reluctance to shell out big bucks for a player who has battled hip injuries off and on over the past few seasons.

To the surprise of no one, Talib sees his value differently.

Coming off his first Pro Bowl selection, Talib wants to be paid as a "top-of-the-market" corner in free agency, reports Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald.

Brent Grimes' four-year, $32 million deal with $16 million in guarantees from the Dolphins is viewed as the benchmark for Talib's camp.

Talib comes in at No. 10 on Around The League's list of the top 101 free agents. He's more than two years younger than Grimes and a comparable talent, but those positives are offset by injury and suspension risks.

The Patriots have made Talib a priority and have kept in contact with his agents, per Howe. If the two sides can't find common ground in the next few days, though, there's a good chance he will be wearing a different uniform in 2014.

Details of the Grimes deal

Signing bonus: $6 million
Base salaries: $25.9 million ($10 million guaranteed)
Reporting bonuses: $100,000

2014: $8.5 million
2015: $8.5 million
2016: $8 million
2017: $7 million

Bruh got $16 million straight up guaranteed

No way Talib is getting that from NE

that's why miami is what they are, though

1. a bit upset about Gregory , but it makes sense objectively . dude was great against the run
2. Wilfork is a similar situation , but we would absolutely need to make moves in free agency or the draft . the young guys Chris Jones and Vellano stepped their **** up , but we can't bank on that consistency going forward
3. Good riddance w/ regards to Amendola . dudes been a bust without question and we absolutely do not need both him and Edelman on the roster

in terms of offensive weapons in the draft , im hoping we take a TE in round 1 (Ebron , Amaro or the guy from Wash) and ive heard some really good things about Odell Beckham from LSU . defensively i want Louis Nix . badly .

yeah agreed, man. we need to hit TE, DT, WR hard. would have been a KILLER year to have two first rounders but that's obviously not happening.

read that trading or dumping amendola doesn't help us from a cap standpoint...not sure if i read it right, but if that's true, let's keep him. he had flashes and a couple huge catches for us. i think less emphasis on him from the start might help with keeping him on the field. but again, only if there's no cap benefit to dumping him.

i dont know ; maybe the story hasnt been written yet on Amendola . both Welker and Edelman took more than a year to really get into the swing of things . if trading him doesnt help our cap situation then its a no brainer to keep him

Some were speculating that we could designate him a June 1 roster cut and spread his salary over 2014 and 2015 but apparently we would need to have him on the roster at the start of the season and that would guarantee his base for 2014 so he is more than likely staying put.

As far as WR depth I would like to see us go at some of the seasoned players in free agency. We tried getting Emmanuel Sanders last year but Pittsburgh matched the offer so maybe we'll make another play at him. I wouldn't mind somebody like Avant or James Jones either.
