***OFFICIAL NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS SEASON THREAD*** (13-4) - Patriots @ Broncos - Sun 3:05PM EST - Bra

I totally feel you on that :smh:

I'm not a cap expert and don't know the numbers or anything, but it seemed like they could have brought back McCourty, Revis, Browner and maybe even Wilfork if they really wanted to for at least one more year and made another run at the Super Bowl. Last year's defense was championship caliber and what NE has been needing for the past several seasons. With Brady's window, I'm not understanding why you don't work out something to retain that level on the defensive side of the ball. Point blank, there is no other Revis and if you have a player like that, you don't let him walk, especially if you can make the money work.

Over the last few days I've come to realize that Revis was most likely never intending to stay in NE anyway. He took a below value deal last year to rework his value up so that he could cash out with the team he wanted all along which would be the Jets in the place that's best for his "brand". Seen tweets from people close to him basically showing that he had intentions of going back to NY all along.

As much as I would've loved to resign him,he would've probably come at a really high price which could've made it difficult to lock up some of the young studs on defense long term. You damn sure can't replace someone like him but I'm willing to give BB the benefit of the doubt. I am sad that the "shutdown" secondary they built couldn't last any longer but I'm sure overall the team will be fine moving forward.

Yep with the transition to a more passing oriented league the secondary is more important than ever. I'm sure that's why they ponied up for D-Mac, imagine losing all 3 :x

It's ****** up cause not only did we lose no. 1. I'm not even comfortable calling any of these ****** on our roster a no. 2 corner

With the numbers dudes like Kareem Jackson and Chris Culliver are getting I really don't see us grabbing anybody unless it's cheap. I saw some Tramon Williams links but dude has to be at least 33 by now . Before we got Revis and Browner our safety positions were pretty much interchangeable, going forward I see us going back to that. I could also see us grabbing a safety as i'm not sure sure Chung will have the same value/impact as he did last year.

This is gonna be a big upcoming draft. We're gonna have 8 picks because of the comp pick we'll receive for Talib.

It's still a long time until we kickoff week 1 and a lot can happen. In Bill we trust right?

Where do guys want us to go in the draft?

1st . Best DL/WR/OL available just get a blue chipper with the first .

2nd look for quality LB/DB/OL depth where the value is

3rd round and on fill up DB/RB/DL/LB

It would make sense.

Is Miami legit now? Tannehill, Lamar Miller, Mike Wallace, Jarvis Landry, Kenny Stills and Jordan Cameron and Suh anchoring that defense for 9 figures.
They'll struggle until tannehill takes that next leap ...not sold on the protection either

Bush left Foxboro without an offer, CJ Spiller signed to NO  and according to Keenan Lewis instagram he's no longer mad and staying in NO

Harvin got 1 yr/6m from the Bills no way we were paying that.

I haven't heard Jacquizz Rodgers name this offseason tho

Curious about the defense.  I read on yahoo about Stevie Johnson.  I don't know if his attitude and character would fit the bill though.  Vereen has been the back to catch those passes.  I don't know how Ridley is doing either.

Damn I kept hearing that the Texans were out of the running this morning, guess not .

I also heard that Stevie Johnson left his visit without a contract....:smh:. Who the heck is the team gonna be spending all that freed up money and cap space on?

*Here's the source that's been breaking most of these visits just now

@NBCDiana: No problems or issues between Stevie Johnson & the Patriots. The receiver will decide between the Chargers & the Patriots per sources

It might still be on :nerd:

if stevie is looking to play 85% of snaps or more, he's gonna pick SD

Peanut Tillman would probably have more left in the tank, not sure what they see in Newman personally :x

We haven't signed Newman, he did come in for a visit tho. I kinda see now why we haven't made a move in the secondary, dudes like Tramon Williams getting a avg of 7 mil a year from the Browns :x

rolaholic rolaholic yeah for real swung and missed on Johnson and Hartline

really interested to see what this team's looking like when the season rolls around . so far in free agency we're getting our butts kicked

all 3 teams in the division have made legitimate upgrades and we've gotten worse

Well I was semi expecting us to sign a Saints running back, just Pierre Thomas instead of Travaris Cadet . I think we'll be pleasantly surprised though,he's a low risk/high reward move and he seems like he could thrive in the pass ctaching/3rd down back role

In addition to CB Terence Newman, Patriots also had CBs Robert McClain, Bradley Fletcher and Tarell Brown in for visits on Tuesday.

They're scrubbing the bottom of bargain bin  :x

while no where near reassuring, that makes me feel slightly better. just slightly

I wake up daily hoping that they will make a big move. Then I remember there's no one really left out there

This is pretty much the team unless a trade happens.

Hopefully somethjng big happens during the draft.
