even if there is "guidelines", the past has shown us that doesnt matter when it comes to Goodell doling out punishments.  The fact that hes in krafts pocket pretty much means it will be an insignificant dollar amount fine.
 
He's not "in his pocket" . The commish works for ALL of the owners, not just Kraft :rolleyes

And if the punishment for deflating/inflating/warming balls is a fine and a loss of picks, that's what will happen.

And if the punishment is more severe because of past occurrences, I dont think you'll find a Patriot fan on this board who will disagree with that

 the destruction of the "spygate" tapes already showed us that goodell is, in fact, in krafts pocket.  
 
So what exactly is your point ?

I think all of us in here have acknowledged 100 times over that Spygate exists and there was some under handed business between Kraft and the league

Spygate is a decade old . This is a new discussion and the Patriots will be punished accordingly
 
my point is that belicik and the patriots are classless cheaters; and the NFL, especially under that bufoon Goodell, has become a farce.

Matt Leinart said that "every team tampers with footballs" and to ask any QB, Tim Hasselbeck co-signed that statement, John Harbaugh took the high road and attributed it to cold weather, Colts players said the Patriots would have won regardless, Aaron Rodgers spoke out on dis-liking the refs deflating balls and inflating his to the point of testing the NFL's regulations and then there's the story about Brad Johnson paying off ball boys to alter footballs for him, for a Super Bowl game nonetheless.

Seems like the people most angry are the "haters" of the Patriots, Tom Brady and Bill Belichick when anyone tries to say that this isn't something new going on or uncommon. No one is justifying it. Just stating what's going on in the NFL.

Fine the Patriots, take away a 3rd round and 4th round pick and let's move on please.

I think the "everyone does it" excuse gets brought up because it's only news once the Patriots do it and/or get caught. This entire thing has been blown out of proportion mainly due to social media. I'd rather this just die out with the Patriots being penalized appropriately so we can focus on what should be a truly great game to end the NFL season :frown:

patriots blew out colts, not much to say there.

seattles dominating team won by the grace of god. takes away from the whole legion of boom prowess.

im not calling it a conspiracy or anything its just such a dumb thing to spotlight leading up to what should be a really good superbowl because theres no really good storyline other than the game of football itself. it just goes to show you that controversy gets more play/ratings than actual sports. 

and how are they going to give a justified punishment? unless they have surveillance video of a patriot staff member how are you supposed to correctly punish whos at fault?

im not saying the patriots are innocent. honestly as a fan it sucks more because they were and are good enough to win without it and as fans we have to deal with the so called asterisk always. but what im saying is this is such a grey area especially with everyone coming out talking about how game balls are worked/manipulated for so many other qbs in the past. 

the patriots are the evil empire of the NFL. what the yankees used to be. and whether people like it or not its great to have a team like that in the sport. now whether they cheat or work around the bylaws, thats up to the NFL to decide. i just think its blown way out of proportion.

Every team does it. Get over it. Rodgers likes to over inflate his, Brady likes his a little deflated, and Peyton probably likes his some other way. Its a "rule" that no one adheres too. Just like pitchers and pine tar. 
 
Just out of curiosity since I didn't post much back in those days, but what was it like around here when spygate broke or during the two SB losses?
 
anyone else friends with giants fans on social media that despite their team having the record to receive the 9th pick, constantly post giants over pats superbowl memes? i dont understand the logic. is that whats its like to root for a mediocre team?

it was a ******* mess, man. an absolute mess. embarrassing, to be honest. that incident was truly embarrassing. this one, i couldn't care less about.
