***OFFICIAL NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS SEASON THREAD*** (13-4) - Patriots @ Broncos - Sun 3:05PM EST - Bra

great W yesterday. total team W...once again.

defense was awesome. browner was huge yesterday. the scheme they ran had peyton fooled for most of the day. dude had no idea who was blitzing and who was dropping back on so many plays yesterday which you rarely see from manning. nink with a huge play on that INT. ayers getting a sack. and even pat chung looked competent yesterday. butler actually played pretty well too and held his own. those stops on third and fourth down...awesome stuff.

offense continues to look great. starts with the offensive line and brady moving around in the pocket. brady's pocket mobility looks like it was 10 years ago. dude is stepping up, shuffling to the side, and completely avoiding the pass rush. he's giving the receivers more time to get open. it's been HUGE. gronk...nothing to say. dude is back. let's keep him healthy and we'll be in good shape. i was actually pissed he was still in the game late in the fourth. lafell continues to contribute in big ways. he gets a pass on the drops yesterday because they didn't hurt us, and he made up for it. lastly, big julian...huge game. and execution on third down yesterday was outf***ingstanding.

and one thing that flies under the radar of a blowout win is gostkowski's ability to kick in the elements. denver's kicker had issues with it. but gostkow nailed it. he's a huge asset for us.

hopefully we keep this rolling after the bye week. great to go in at 7-2 and with the best record in the AFC. lot of work left tho as we round out the toughest part of our schedule next.

I was NOT expecting that  :pimp:

The Pats are blowing teams out of the water

I know this wont be the case playing tough teams on the road , but all of the sudden this 'tough stretch' doesnt look so tough

Detroit and SD should be wins. Indy and GB are questionable.

Brady :pimp:

Browner :pimp:

Revis :pimp:

Gronk :pimp:

Edelman :pimp:

Everyone is playing well and after wiping the floor with one of the best teams ever assembled, everyone is definitely feeling confident

Yesterday will probably be the highlight of my trip to Boston. I'm from San Antonio so seeing snow was :pimp: for me. The whole New England area looked so cool snow covered. The wifey and I got to Foxboro around noon and spent the entire day there until game time.

Man, Gillette Stadium is awesome. From the aesthetics, to the crowd, to the atmosphere, everything was just a joy to take in. That first drive when Denver had the ball, you could just feel the electricity from the crowd. And then on 3rd down when the fog horns go off... :pimp:

The Gronk catch was unbelievable; I wish it was a TD though. The Edelman punt return was nuts. Everything was just perfect about this game. This was a bucket list item for my wife and I and it certainly didn't disappoint. We need to come through again though before GOAT retires.

God bless Pats fans around the world. We are all Patriots!!!

awesome stuff, dude. glad you enjoyed it and glad you enjoyed seeing a snow covered NE. nothing like a fresh coating of snow on the ground. how was the rest of your trip to the area?

Defense came up BIG for us yesterday, "bend but don't break" was in full effect
laugh.gif
smokin.gif
. Revis started out slow but picked up in the 2nd half and Browner had like back to back to back penalties but his presence was definitely felt
laugh.gif
. Having those two adds a whole 'nother element to our D. I mentioned this last week but Chung has quietly been playing at a high level. Also, Butler came in a got beat for a deep ball but he was very solid, showed why he got the nod over Dennard and Ryan.

Hats off to Patricia, people were getting frustrated with him early in the season with his choice of gameplans (having Revis in zone, etc.) but he came through big time. Peyton had no clue were the 4 man rush was coming from they did a good job of coming out and giving him pretty much the same look every down. Nink played a hell of game, on that pick Peyton didn't see him AT ALL. Our LBs Nink, Hightower, Ayers, Collins, all played solid. Credit to big Wilfork for plugging lanes and helping shut the run down early.

Offensively man, First off having Gronk makes us a completely different team as we already knew, dude is damn near unstoppable. After having a quiet game last week Edelman came through in a major way. Lafell had a couple big drops the first 1 in the endzone had me pissed and wondering if this was what the Panthers fans were talking about
laugh.gif
he redeemed himself later in the game tho. Amendola even came in and had a couple big grabs. Only thing else you could ask for is production on the ground but they have 1 of the best run D's in the game plus we won by 20 so you really can't complain
laugh.gif

Special teams is a little underrated but they were solid, covered their lanes and didn't give up any big returns. It was also nice seeing Casillas get his name called a few times.

Hopefully we can ride this confidence into Indy in 2 weeks gonna be tough one on the road

im particularly impressed with how well weve been able to throw the ball even with the absence of a run game the past few weeks . with denvers defense , i was worried that unless we established a run theyd be all over brady , but he still dominated them . its been amazing -- the offensive line play and brady's increased nimbleness has been such pleasant surprises

^ 100% man

it came out today that Brady spent a ton of time this offseason working on his pocket mobility and making throws while scrambling. looks to be paying off now that he's found trust in his receivers

This is one of the biggest surprises for me. When he was making plays on the ball I was like

awesome stuff, dude. glad you enjoyed it and glad you enjoyed seeing a snow covered NE. nothing like a fresh coating of snow on the ground. how was the rest of your trip to the area?

Well we spent most of today at The Hall at Patriot Place, shopping at the Pro Shop, traveling and eating at Wahlburgers, and then hitting up downtown Boston where we're staying at.

We're here through Thursday and I believe we'll be doing the Fenway Park tour, a photo tour, a food tour, the city pass, catching the Celtics game Wednesday night, Sam Adams tour and anything else we can squeeze in.

If you have any food spots you recommend or anything we should check out, it'd be appreciated!

good stuff, man. how did you like Wahlburgers? i've never been but wanted to check it out if it's worth it.

if you have time for another brewery tour, check out Harpoon. another good local beer in Boston. if you're into Mexican food, check out Papagayo (although you're from Texas so your Mexican probably crushes anything in the North East). Pizza...Pizzeria Regina in the North End. Seafood...the Barking Crab (highly recommend it if you're into seafood. no crazy dishes, but just good fresh seafood prepared simply). The North End also has a couple good Italian pastry places if you've got a sweet tooth. Most will say go to Mike's Pastry, but I prefer Modern Pastry. can't really go wrong with either though.

ill take the penalties with Browners physicality . when he had that PI early in the game i clapped and said "thats what we want" . its very similar to how the seahawks play in the secondary -- the officials arent going to call the majority of them . the physicality throws both the receivers and QB off , and does us more good than bad

^ cool video, man. thanks for posting that. i always say that i was dead wrong about that kid. he's become a tremendous weapon for us. love him. i loved the last bit of the video with him Brady too. i was cracking up too when i saw Brady in the endzone looking to celebrate that punt return TD with him during the game

who was arguing with me saying broncos -3 was a fair line in this thread ?!

I was CLEARLY wrong there, bruh. You got that.

A blowout in that fashion was definitely not on my radar. It's the respect I have for Peyton/Broncos.
Good **** man.

The game ended up being the perfect start to your vacation.

I think we got less of the "bend but don't break" philosophy that we usually get from Bill. So many different looks thrown at Peyton the entire game while being very aggressive at the point of attack, which led to plenty of stops on 3rd and 4th down. Something this team hasn't been able to do in these big games for years...

Haven't been able to fully catch up with NT, but I don't think Dont'a Hightower has been mentioned yet. IMO he is the most improved Patriot from last season and is becoming a really important contributor on this D. Hightower was doing well earlier in his new role before Mayo got hurt and now he's replaced him and looks night and day from the struggles of 2013. Hopefully he's past the tough part of the learning curve and keeps showing up from here on out.

I might've said this already and I know I've talked a lot about him...but ****, man...Brandon Browner might end up being my favorite Patriot FA pick-up EVER.
pimp.gif
I was heavily rooting for dude to get a fair chance to show what he could do and I'm happy so far with the results. It's still VERY early and I don't want to get ahead of myself, but he's been exactly as described and you have to take the good w/ the bad. He's so different from the norm around these parts and brings a **** YOU type energy that Belichick's secondary usually lacks.

No more midgets pls.
laugh.gif

There's a lot of good info out there from this game and other Patriots related stuff I think y'all might enjoy. I'll try and look them up and post them when I have time.

Brandon Browner played a great game against the Broncos. Completely sparked the defense with energy and intensity. Plus the turnover. Wanted to big-up him along with Edelman offensively.

Hightower certainly has been playing very well , and did a great job running the defense on Sunday . agree 1000% about Browner -- ill take the one penalty a game for his physicality and how much he frustrates and disrupts routs and timing

im also extremely impressed with how quickly Ayers has been able to assimilate into the defense . i always wonder with guys like him how much happier they must be going from a sorry team with no winning culture like the Titans to the Patriots and becoming an asset overnight . but feel great

Browner wins the physical battle with his size and ultimately disrupts your mental concentration consequently. He isn't the best CB in the AFC, but I like his intensity and ability to spark a defensive unit.

I agree with this somewhat I think we were a little more aggressive than we had been in the past and I give credit to BB, Patricia & co for getting creative with rush. We pretty much only rushed 4 the whole game but they did a nice job of keeping Peyton guessing.

At the core I think it was still the same "bend but don't break" philosophy. If you look strictly at the yards you would think Peyton had a field day passing with 438 but the keys to the "bend but dont break" are stopping the run, forcing turnovers, and forcing field goals with the shortened field, all of which we were able to do. We forced that 1 field goal which dude missed so the next time around they didn't even bother with him which led to a 4th down stop

I agree about Browner as well dude just brings a different mentality to our secondary, something I think the rest of them can feed off. It's kind of funny BB has always drafted/signed small DB's so it feels way different having one of the biggest corners in the game. Nice to dude is at least semi-open to change

illoquent aka dsk illoquent aka dsk or anyone else in here....did you listen to Bedard this week on F&M? awesome stuff on what bill and the defense did to Peyton. love hearing how he breaks all this stuff down

he's spot on about what the difference is between Brady and Manning.

someone please link me to this . DSA you have a link ?

i don't have a link but i download the podcast from iTunes for free. it's the "November 4th - Hour 1 - Felger & Massarotti" podcast on iTunes. it'll come up if you search for "Felger & Massarotti". they start talking about right from the start.

also, Bedard is on with these guys every Tuesday during hour 1 and hour 2. i usually always check out what he has to say because they usually break down the game from the previous sunday.

Of course. Didn't you know? I get ALL my thoughts and information from sports radio.

Seriously though...Bedard was on point once again. He's anti-Peyton and I think it sometimes gets in the way of his evaluations on #18, but for the most part, I agree w/ his larger points.

I'll say it every time it gets brought up...y'all should grab that podcast every Tuesday and listen to him on the show. I've been recommending Bedard for months, he's an excellent analyst. IMO one of football media's best and you'll learn a few things about the previous game you didn't catch live...especially if you're half-buzzed or worse during the action.

Mike Loyko of NEPD might be worth a look on Twitter as well. Unlike Bedard, he's a Patriots fan and more opinionated (good and bad thing) + a small-time scout. So he'll switch between speaking as a fan vs. making impartial observations from tweet to tweet, but he does have good insight on certain Patriot-related things. Here's some of his recent stuff:
Mike Loyko@NEPD_Loyko

Here's an example of impact Vince Wilfork makes vs. run. Re-establishes LOS 5 yards in backfield, before the handoff

Mike Loyko@NEPD_Loyko

On Ayers forth down sack credit to Wilfork and Easley for each occupying multiple blockers, opening clean lane.

Mike Loyko@NEPD_Loyko

Example of great pocket movement.. 3rd Goal 8 second left, CANNOT take a sack.. look at what Brady manuevered around

Mike Loyko@NEPD_Loyko

Here's how Gronk is defended in Red Zone.. Denver jumped every time he broke out of the top of his route..

Mike Loyko@NEPD_Loyko

Asked about Aaron Dobson today. Was told not to right him off. "He's getting healthier" and "he'll make an impact before season is over"
That last screenshot was a TD to Edelman, but look at how Gronk draws 3 Broncos in coverage and they jump his route when he turns to look for the ball. Gronk.

Not sure how good his sources are, but I figured the Dobson item was worth posting. Maybe it's true, maybe not.
