is that the year Welker had that 99 yard TD against the dolphins during week 1 mnf?
indeed it was

Reps all around.

Its giving me a hard on to see this thread so active.

Idk what my favorite year was, all I know is that i took those Super Bowls forgranted as a youngin
frown.gif

I figured theyd always be in contention. And they have been. But i would LITERALLY sacrifice my left nut to see Brady and BB hoist that Lombardi.
quoted and repped. I wouldn't say I took the SBs for granted but I definitely thought there were couple more at least on the way. Dat teenager arrogance/ego
laugh.gif

But now, I'm 10 years older than I was (28 now) and there have been quite epic heartbreaks- '05 divisional vs Denver (we shot ourselves in the foot repeatedly), '06 AFCCG meltdown vs Indy, '07 SB XLI, Brady out of the year for '08 season, '09 was just blah (a huge letdown once welker got injured vs Houston), '10 divisional vs Jets, '11 SB II vs NY, '12 AFCCG vs Baltimore- we went ghost in the 2nd half offensively and defensively. '13 AFCCG vs Denver- I didn't expect us to win. I hoped of course but I was being realistic. I'm much more grateful now and like you said, NooEra, I'd give anything to see that Lombardi come back home where it belongs again

My man (cue denzel .gif here) Brady was on fire to begin the season with a 500 yard outing in the opener and then ripped san diego in the 2nd game of the home opener with 400 plus yards (900 plus yards in 2 games)
pimp.gif
Gronk was just gronklicious that year beasting everyone. A breakout year for him. We saw how truly great he would be/was. IMO Rob Gronkowski is the best TE I've ever seen in my life. srs. He is the complete tight end. Sure, Graham is as explosive as much as him if not more but even he said it himself that he's more of a WR (in a TE body). Rob mauls *** blocking and is a terror after the catch and his TD per game is top notch in NFL history. Sighs, I just hope he comes close to where he was before and don't suffer any more major injury(ies) because god knows theres so much his body can take

And as for the offense, ocho cinco didn't do squat. he was an afterthought which was a huge disappointment considering that we had high hopes for him producing when we got him in the preseason. ugh. His feeble mind couldn't process our offense (to be fair veteran joey Galloway couldn't too but still). And Branch as our deep threat?
sick.gif
laugh.gif
bro his knees are/was shot and it showed in '11 as opposed to '10. But he was definitely serviceable nonetheless. Hernandez had himself a breakout year too but was hugely shadowed by Gronk's and had huge games when the D was focused on stopping Gronk. I remember he was great in the Denver game with tebow late in the year and then again in the divisional blowout, rushing and receiving

Ugh the Super Bowl. Of course. Brady could've delivered a better pass but Wes usually caught tough passes and it was practically routine for him. Just

.  What if we recovered just one of few giants fumbles???? Could have been different game

and yes that eli manning pass. I agree, one of the best passes ever. right on the money. What are the chances that the lighting strikes in the same place not once but twice

that's how I feel about our losses vs NYG in both SB.

I still like the '10 season slightly better than '11. To each their own
smile.gif
I highlighted that part just to show off how little Brady had in terms of options at receiver,a washed up Ochocinco and old Branch as your deep options
laugh.gif
sick.gif
. Agreed with you about Gronk though. I cringe whenever I  hear/see Graham at the top spot on some peoples rankings I see because a healthy Gronk is dominant and far superior in almost every aspect of the game. Arguably the most dominant TE ever when at his best. He was an absolute monster that year, think he also had like 3 TD's in the playoffs against Denver. Hernandez was also appreciated on the football field, that added presence just made the passing game that much more lethal and defenses didn't know what to do when lining up in front of them
laugh.gif
pimp.gif
. Yea so many what ifs about that Superbowl
ohwell.gif
,the overall journey and excitement of that season, for me is probably unmatched since the '07 team

i was thinking to myself WTF branch and ocho cinco as deep threats? unnhhh what? lmao.

I've been on this board for looong time since like '01 season
eek.gif
laugh.gif
dead srs. Way back in Dirtylicious days (is he still even around??) OG members know what I'm talking about
laugh.gif
.  Was a member before but then got banned. long story. So all those years I've been lurking and checking out for lulz and info. Guys on here, certain ones of course, know their stuff by far so I enjoy their input/pick up info that I dunno and whatnot. Anyway back to the point, during the pats '07 season, this board was comedy and pure GOLD. Grown *** men crying about them running up the score and how they were cheating and the SBs should be tainted, blah blah. There would be like 4,5 or even 6 different threads in Sports and Training all at once varying from how good they were, how they were running up the score and that they have no sportsmanship, How much do y'all think they're gonna win by this week, etc etc.... Absolut classic.
laugh.gif

at this dude JRAIN23 or something having major hard on for Moss so he'd always say Brady to Moss for the long toss
pimp.gif
pimp.gif
made me chuckle. I think some of those threads are still there, just search and find em. Good stuff man.

Wish I was on NT during that era, I'm sure that the lulz were abundant during that season  :smokin. I remember that bs running the score talking point, people were seriously crying about how badly they were getting beaten weekly  :pimp:

I went to every parade. Got wasted with all of my boys downtown. Had girls sitting on our shoulders flashing all of Government Center.

So spoiled as a Boston fan during the prime of my life.

My favorite year was definitely 2003-2004. Had tickets to the game in Indy when Willy and co. had that goal line stand to end the game, but couldn't go. Redeemed myself and went to AFC 'ship in the snow where Ty Law picked Peyton 3 times. GOAT sporting event I've ever gone to to this day.

in order for me without thinking too deep:

2001...the start of it all
2010...brady's best year IMO
2007...nothing really to say here
2006...Brady taking us to the AFC Champ game with Reche Caldwell being the go to guy :smh: . literally not a single big play person on offense. absolute miracle work done that year by 12 and the defense

,minus the afccg

. My favorite moment will always be the sheer amount of salt on LT's face during the playoffs after the Rosey Colvin,Wilfork and Troy Brown were doing Merrimans sack dance after beating them in San Diego during the year they were SB favs

at Tomlinson. What a crybaby though. I guess I'd be mad at him too being on several talented Chargers team and the farthest the team went was a trip to AFC championship game and that was with him being on the bench. Someone post that pic with him in his helmet and parka
roll.gif
and add insult to the injury Macfarlane figures or something like that made an exact replica of him on the bench
laugh.gif

To this day, charger fans still can't get over that troy brown stripped marlon mccree after intercepting brady and he didn't get down immediately which would've sealed the game. That game took years off my life OMG.

(facepalm) at reche caldwell in that '06 AFC championship. he had the deer in the headlights look right there

at Brady being a lot lighter on his feet in that urlacher juke vid compared to today. That '06 season was TOUGH but we still managed a 12-4 record. Like DSA said, heck of a job by that squad. We coulda shoulda woulda have won the SB that year if we have any resemblance of receiving threat(s)
indifferent.gif

If you guys are reminiscing on New England's glory days, I miss these players in no particular order: Ty Law, Lawyer Milloy, Deion Branch, Troy Brown, David Givens, Daniel Graham, Kevin Faulk, David Patten.

That '06 chargers team was filthy. Merriman was nasty. Rivers was in his first yr starting and was impressive. LT was his usual beast self. I don't know how we beat them considering our pathetic WR corps and the fact brady threw 3 INTs under heavy duress all game long.

yes we are. Those players played huge roles in their own in our Super Bowl years. I thought Givens was probably one of the most underrated pats player. He was tough and physical as hell. Blocked well and was dependable. Would've liked BB to resign him but his medical record had huge red flag. He had this condition in his knee or something like that. One bad cut on field or anything like that would've wrecked his knee. Good enough, it happened when he played for Tennessee when he signed a FA deal with them. Almost lost his knee/leg because of that. Career ender.

Yea that San Diego team was stacked and went 14-2 with LT having that MVP year with 31 TD's...

. That afcdg was probably the most heartwrenching Pats game I've watched minus the 2 Giants SB's

Gotta show some love to my man Ben Watson too for the most all out hustle play of all time

To this day that should've been a touchback but man what a hell of an effort on that play
eek.gif

Some other favs from those team were Colvin,Ty Warren,Bruschi,Vrabel and Corey Dillon

I feel like I could wear ski boots and still beat him in a foot race.
LOL. I hate walking in ski boots. awkward and clunky as hell.

co-sign x million on that Denver divisional in '05. Even though they beat us earlier in the year, we weren't playing good football at the time, I truly believed that we were the better team and we are except in the divisional which we just beat ourselves, fumbling and throwing INTs. Flat out not taking care of the ball and credit to Denver, they took advantage of it especially that champ bailey INT return
indifferent.gif
yes you're right that was definitely a touchback
indifferent.gif
 IDC if im biased
laugh.gif
But really it shouldn't have even come to that point if we simply didn't turn the ball over. Watson nearly (should've) bailed us out with that
eek.gif
play. Once the game ended, I was so bummed. I had that teenager arrogance/pride going believing that NE was gonna roll to the Super Bowl since we were playing great football towards the end of the season/playoffs and were coming off an easy win vs Jacksonville in the WC. And then in the following week I was extra salty when Denver rolled over for Pittsburgh.

. Champ was GASSED at the end of the return then Watson comes flying outta nowhere and lays him out LMFAO. Champ really got air knocked outta him real good cuz he remained on the ground
laugh.gif
I remember when I watched the game and when brady unloaded the pass and I nearly jumped out of my seat when Champ intercepted that pass, that was some snatch by him though. I was like NOOOOOOOOOOooooooooo 'til ben laid the wood on champ (pause) and temporarily restored my hope for a pats comeback until the stupid zebra ruled the ball out on the 1 instead of a touchback
sick.gif

yooo y'all remember Duane Starks in '05?
laugh.gif
sick.gif
he was a major disappointment and was FOOD for the opposing teams' WRs. It seemed like almost every time long yardage catches would came at his expense

Starks was a Baltimore transplant? He was finished by the time he reached New England.

That reminds me, Chris McAlister was a beast for the Ravens.
