***OFFICIAL NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS SEASON THREAD*** (13-4) - Patriots @ Broncos - Sun 3:05PM EST - Bra

That Chiefs game is proof the media overreacts to one game or incident. Glad to see Brady and the Pats flourish with the rumors of a breakup floating around. Nonsense. The national media awoke the dragon in Thomas. Wright finally utilized in the seams, Brady changing plays with his intuition and reading of the defense. Browner returning from suspension. Two very winnable division games against Buffalo and the Jets. Struggle in Weeks 1 and 4 will be a distant memory, sitting pretty at 5-2.

Class act by the organization to honor Still and his daughter. Love that story, man. Proof you can do business the right way.

im excited and hopeful about the offenses development and getting back to the two TE attack plan . for such a limited amount of snaps , Wright was extremely productive . we've seen historically that its been difficult for new players to fit into the offense , but he seems to be coming along fairly well and taking advantage of the opportunities hes had . whats more is Gronk seems to be improving as well , and saw the most amount of snaps he has all year

at the end of the day , i feel that offense will go as the offensive line goes . the consistency that we saw out of them on Sunday needs to hold true going forward , or they'll be back at square one

love getting Bedard's insight. it's free of all the ******** that talking heads create...all that drama and spinning. you get actual insight.
He's great at what he does.

You get actual football talk from him and as much X's and O's as F&M could allow.

Even though it was more entertaining when Jermaine Wiggins used to have that segment before he moved on from 98.5, I prefer Bedard over him because he brings much more to the table. He's not a narratives guy so he balances the show pretty well.

To our out-of-towners on here, I highly recommend y'all grab the Felger & Massarotti podcast every Tuesday. Greg Bedard is on during the first two hours and he goes over the previous weekend's Patriots game and other stuff around the NFL. He used to cover the team before he joined MMQB so it's not your typical national media hot takes.

Welp.

http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/..._browner_struggling_to_grasp_patriots_defense
Cornerback Brandon Browner, who was absent from practice today, was not activated Sunday against the Bengals because he has struggled to grasp the Patriots defensive system, according to a source.

Browner opened the season with a four-game suspension and was eligible to play his first game in Week 5. It was curious why Bill Belichick  opted against activating him, though Alfonzo Dennard played well in the Pats' 43-17 victory. Now, the answer has become clear.

Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman  voiced his concern over the matter during a June conversation with the Herald. He said the Seahawks essentially levied one responsibility upon the corners, and putting too much on Browner's plate would take away his effectiveness.

Still, Sherman didn't see it as a major issue at the time.

"I think he has a very good football IQ,"  Sherman told the Herald in June. "I think he’ll be fine picking up their checks and their reads and their defense. I think he’ll pick that up easily and won’t have any problems or issues. He’s a very instinctual player, also.

"Sometimes, putting a lot of pre-snap reads and all that kind of takes away from his instincts, and I hope they don’t do that because that’s part of our game. That’s what allowed us to be successful in Seattle was a lack of checks and the lack of reads and things like that. We just stand up there and go toe to toe."

Belichick asks much more out of his cornerbacks, who have to be well-versed in the call out of the huddle and the corresponding checks at the line from the safeties and linebackers.

It might be in the Pats' best interest to let Darrelle Revis  and Browner just do what they do best, but that's not how they do business. And because of that, Browner hasn't caught up to speed.
Here we go again.

We've heard this story a million times, but it's usually someone being integrated into the offense.

I just hope he's "up to speed (

)" when the games matter in a couple months. That's all I've asked for.

 figures

i feel like worst case...when we play teams with those miss match TE's, you just let him play man. just like that article said, let him and Revis do their thing.

ehhh . doesnt really make much sense to me . regardless of how difficult our "scheme" may be hes got to be just as valuable -- if not more valuable than Logan Ryan and Malcolm Butler

Stork (head) absent. Still no Easley, Browner, Fleming, Ebner.

so stork has a concussion and is likely a no go i would assume. that sucks. back to Cannon or Tuba Boy at RG.

Browner not practicing points to him being inactive. Easley has a shoulder issue. not a huge loss tho IMO.

Brandon Spikes on why he calls TB12: "The Pharaoh"

Bills linebacker Brandon Spikes is nothing if not uniquely creative.

So, when word came out this week that he's always called Tom Brady "The Pharaoh," our interest was piqued. Brady said we'd have to ask Spikes about the origin of the nickname, and since Spikes spoke to the Herald yesterday, there was no chance of passing up on that question.

"I feel like there’s levels to this game, and he’s achieved the maximum of them all," Spikes said of Brady. "I mean, what do you want? You’ve got a beautiful wife, a beautiful family. He’s one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game. He’s got the rings that prove it. He’s got the MVPs. What more could you achieve at this level? I just feel like he’s in a league of his own. He’s still going. I always admired him because of the edge he had each and every year coming into the season. He always would tell me, ‘Hey B, they drafted me in the (sixth) round, man.’ That was a long time ago, and he’s still got that fire burning in him. As a player, you’ve got to respect that man."

Spikes also defended the absurd criticism of Brady this season.

"They’re always waiting," Spikes said of the critics. "They’re waiting patiently, waiting for somebody to do something. In my opinion, that’s how you measure a man. When he gets punched in the face, what does he do after that? Does he lay down? Does he get up? That’s how I feel like you measure a man throughout his career. How does he respond to adversity and things like that? It doesn’t surprise me that he came back out with (what) looks like a whole different offense. That’s the last thing I expected him to just fold and buy into all of that bullcrap everybody was speaking at the time."

Oh, and when asked later about the Patriots' tight end tandem of Rob Gronkowski and Tim Wright, Spikes casually dropped a Pharaoh reference like it was nothing.

"I think it’s going to be extremely difficult, but first off, we’ve got to definitely get The Pharaoh off the spot," Spikes said. "We’ve got to pressure him. Secondly, we need to be prepared for all the formations. They do a lot of moving around, the multiple formations, multiple personnel groups. It can get tricky, and that’s one of the reasons they do that, to get the defense off track and get them discombobulated. But if we can keep our composure and make sure we communicate and tackle well, because they’ve got a lot of dynamic guys that can make some plays. If you miss a tackle here and there, they can turn a 3-yard play into a big gain. We want to just swarm to the ball, get all 11 guys to the ball and try to make plays."

Out:
S Nate Ebner (finger)
OL Cameron Fleming (finger)

Questionable:
QB Tom Brady (ankle)
CB Brandon Browner (ankle)
LB Jamie Collins (thigh)
DL Dominique Easley (shoulder, knee)
LB Dont'a Hightower (knee)
WR Matthew Slater (shoulder)
C Bryan Stork (concussion)

Probable:
DE Chandler Jones (shoulder)
S Devin McCourty (rib)

brady apparently hurt his ankle in practice. assume he's still a go for sunday

yeah i'd hope so.

the real matchup issue with the bills is that dude Chandler. Collins or Browner (if he plays) on him is the move. watching Mayo chase Jackson and Spiller around the field is not going to be fun

Patriots announce that CB Brandon Browner, DL Dominique Easley and C Bryan Stork have been downgraded to out for Sunday's game vs. Bills-Mike Reiss

Hopefully Browner can come back after the Jets game at least, that's when the schedule gets tough

Let's get that W today brothas

No Stork is a big hit.

this is huge. we're back to Cannon and Tuba boy at G now. that's not a good look based on how both guys have played. buffalo's DL is arguably better than Cincy's.

hopefully Browner suits up versus the Jets on Thursday

Hightower is on the field for a workout and apparently not looking good. he might be held out as a gametime decision.

This has all the makings of a tough game. It might be ugly for our offense. But the Pats should still be able to handle business if they're supposed to be what we thought they were.

Leggo.
