should i wear the same suit and just a different shirt/tie combo? or do i have to get a new suit now

Any more updates? I'm glad you came to your senses and listened to the people in this thread. Congratulations on the second round.

id go with a dif color tie...i mean maybe the initial interviewer is in on the next round too...thats  just me tho

I don't think initial interviewer will be in next round. What more is he going to ask OP/contribute?

In my experience with several rounds of interview, it's most likely HR first, then someone who works in the department, then could be a Partner or someone else with some authority depending on how the company structure is set

well my 2nd interview is coming up

im pretty sure the same people from interview 1 is going to be there

problem is i only got the navy suit

i wore the a white shirt and striped tie combo to round 1 so i def dont want to risk wearing the same thing again making me look bummy i thought about a different tie but i just feel like i need a new shirt and tie

what do you guys think?  im choosing between a pink tie, bright emerald or a white polka dot black tie atm still deciding on the shirt

Out of those three choices the Emerald tie is your best bet by far. Nothing wrong with wearing the same suit again. A lot of people only have a 3 suit rotation its a thing thats understood

you think i should rock with the same white shirt?

also do you guys think i need to get a haircut?

i had a similar hairstyle to this for my first interview

now its kinda grown out into something like this (ignore his eye)

i can either go with a fresh cut or try to maintain/style it with some gel

Good luck with the second round.

There isn't anything wrong with wearing the same suit again. If you can budget it out, maybe get a light blue shirt to switch things up, but nothing obtrusive. Same goes for the tie.
Haircut, keep it fresh, but nothing too crazy. BTW the best thing you could have done, was visit a few a high-end fashion stores and take a good look at what employees are wearing, maybe even ask them about the job/company etc. Be prepared.

good luck.

also i was wondering if you guys got any tips on salary negotiations

i never really negotiated before and regret it and i would like to get the upper level of the pay grade instead of settling on what they give me

Is it just retail?  I don't think you have much room to negotiate, if so...

i mean its retail but these companies have a set budget for example lets say the ideal payrate for new hires is 15 an hour but someone with experience they are willing to go up to 20 an hour

of course there going to offer everyone the 15 regardless but they are willing to go up to 20 if the right candidate asks for it

i just want to know how i can ask for the 20 rate in a respectful manner without looking foolish/rude

Conservative is the best approach for an interview my dude. They're not looking for a CEO to come and rock the foundation of the company, they're looking for someone to fill an entry level job. Dress the part.

Nothing more need be said.  OP, you've got great advice in this thread, so stop asking questions and just follow them...

Exactly.

This thread is hilarious - it's a retail job. Sure, it's high end retail but the manager doesn't care that you know how the company is doing (they don't care - they only care about their store), they just want you to be presentable, personable and be able to sell their stuff.

A lot of these tips would apply if you were trying to join the upper management - but you're not so don't worry about it. General interview technique is all you need - and for this job I would bet that they're not that interested in what you're actually saying - just that you come across well for a few short minutes - which is what they need. That and being able to sell coal to Newcastle.

I don't think you can negotiate a salary for an entry-level job in retail. You're going to get an hourly wage and it'll probably be around $12 depending on location.

Op i think you should approach your manager after you spend a good amount of time on the job to show that you are a good worker. You need to show your boss that you deserve it.
