I think because they lack a quality LB. Defensive duties arent new to him though. Havent watched much of Juventus but they play a 3 back and it requires their midfielders to track back time to time.

I think he'll play a more advanced role though. Ghana relies on the counter a lot so expect him to be sprinting that left side on breakaways all game.
