Lone Survivor (2013) - Trailer - Mark Wahlberg,Taylor Kitsch,Eric Bana

Jesus. Peter Berg movie thru and thru.

I gotta wonder how accurate it was and what else was left out due to not being cleared by the USN.

Yeah character development was meh, that's about the only thing the movie was short in, even with the lack of character development I was holding back tears through the credits brahs....went back to Crossfit and put in woorkkk this week.

THE MURPH must live on, thru sweat, pain and tears! :pimp:

!!SPOILERS AHEAD!!
(Idk how to add spoiler)

Mannnnnn. So y'all gonna tell me the only dude who didn't have the stones to do what needed to be done and got everyone but himself offed "made the right decision"? It was the other side or them, and they gave up their lives for what? I could see if dudes were just regular citizens. But young boy had hate in his heart.

You should probably read up on Law Of Armed Conflict x Rules Of Engagement...

Saw it. Great movie but those falls though :x

I'm saying :x

These dudes jumped off a gawd damn mountain and kept it pushing :smh: :pimp:

Ya but between living and dying i'm jumping off that damn mountain just like them and hoping for the best.

Luttrell was right though CNN would've made a huge deal about it and the taliban would've used it as propaganda for sure. It was just a ****** situation all around. The worst part was when that Helio got hit :smh: :frown: and the other dudes still wanted to go down and help them out man them feels hit me :frown:

A lot was left out.. Gotta remember no one else survived but Marcus, With everything going on (being shot multiple times, broken back, all your friends are dead/missing, your alone, don't know if you'll survive or be rescued) He forgot a lot of things or just didn't see them with his own eyes.. The book does go into much more detail tho especially the ending.

Just finished watching this movie and I thoroughly enjoyed. Gonna see that Murph the Protector doc though and read the book next.

Just came back from watching. GREAT MOVIE. I woulda taken the guys that stumbled on em for a LONG walk until I had comm. Once I radio'd in I woulda have let them go and let them take that walk back, with enough time to be extracted before they made it back.

Those falls tho

Hes never out of the fight

Mike Murphy got a Medal of Honor for that, a Naval Destroyer named after him (The USS Michael Murphy, a pool, a park, his name is in the Hall of Heroes, Penn State has a Lt Michael Murphy Award, the Lt Michael Murphy Plaza, plus that crazy *** crossfit workout.

dude is a legend, and I feel honored that men like him have lived (and died unfortunately) in my lifetime.  War heroes always seem like something of the past, but these dudes are our contemporary legends, and aside from books like this, we will never know 99% of what they do for us everyday.

THIS

I was arguing with my boys about this film. They blamed Mark's character for their downfall.

I was saying I wouldn't have let them go either but I would have took them with me until we reached extraction.

All my boy said they would have killed them on the spot.

What would you have done in that situation?

They couldn't go with them, Someone from their village would have known they were gone longer than usual and sent out the search party resulting in the same thing..
It would have given them more time to get comms up. Letting them go was the worse decision of their lives.

The part before the mission when they are talking about the mission itself and that whole war of conduct or whatever they call it the rules and they pan to the real life Murphy and he just shakes his head.

U mean Marcus luttrell my dude....

Yeah, like other people said, I don't understand why they didn't just take them as hostages for a couple hours on the hike back than let them go?

Does Marcus address that in the book or in any interviews?

The repercussions to breaking Rules of Engagement :smh: Just not fair...

I'm finishing the book later today, but the passages where Marcus discusses his regret for letting them walk away/displeasure for ROE hurts.

Watched the movie last night and I thought it was a great film. Definitely need to read both books now.

I didn't get that either. The movie was intense though.

Do the ROE not allow them to take those dudes as prisoners? Of course they would've had a search crew on their tales eventually after it was noticed that those dudes were gone for a long time, but at the very least the SEALS would've had a headstart and the opportunity to set up strategically and plan some traps.
