Roster (at the moment):
PG: Jose Calderon, Devin Harris, Shane Larkin, Gal Mekel
SG: Monta Ellis, Wayne Ellington, Ricky Ledo
SF: Shawn Marion, Vince Carter, Jae Crowder
PF: Dirk Nowitzki, Brandan Wright
C: Samuel Dalembert, Dejuan Blair, Bernard James
For missing out on Dwight, I'd say on paper Cuban and Donnie have done a decent job improving the roster and making use of their cap space. I'm actually looking forward to this upcoming season now and think this team should fare a lot better than last year's disaster.
Of course, I'm going to remind myself to temper expectations since the general consensus after last year's off-season was that they also did alright for missing out on Deron Williams and the guys we got all geeked up about: Collison, Mayo and Kaman ended up being so trash :x
Realistically I think they can be good enough to get the #6-8 seed in the West provided no one gets hurt and the ball bounces their way a lot more this season compared to last year. It should be nice to see some competent and smart point guard play again this year.
If Monta can buy into the system and not try to jack up jumpers and cut back on shooting those 3 pointers that he never makes; he could be due for a big bounce back year after trending down the last 2-3 seasons. Hard to believe that in his 2nd full season as a starter back in 2007-2008 he actually shot 53%
:x since he's shot 43% and 41% the last couple seasons
We just need him to drive to the basket the way Barea did for us back in 2010-2011 whenever defenders collapsed on Dirk or kick it out to Dirk/Calderon/Carter when the lanes are clogged.
Note: I pm'd JapanAir month ago to see if he was starting a new thread or not and he never responded
so I made this thread. If everyone wants to close this one and have him start a different one since I know he's the main NT voice for the Mavs, I'm down.
