It's Walmart complaining about it, not Sears.

CurrentC notes it may share info with your device maker, app store, or developer tool makers. Oddly, it will collect health data. Precise location information is used to verify you’re at the retailer where you’re making a transaction, and if you opt in it can be used for marketing or advertising.

Thanks for the link.

On the surface I dont think either applepay or currentc will be my form of payment. I dont find either to be any more convenient than what I do now.

I think you were the one who said it but using applepay for buying on a mobile is probably the best method. Cuz its a pain to have to input cc info on ur mobile

I will use it when available and only doing things that I would normally do. I would not go out of my way or buy something I normally wouldn't just to use Apple Pay.

What's funny is using credit card is the same thing as using Apple pay. So if Americans refuse to use currentC and just use their credit cards, the merchant will still be charged a fee.

If I was in the states I would rather swipe my card than pull up a QR code from 1990's to make a purchase lol and would swipe my visa on every purchase just to make a point.

I don't see myself using Current C ever. I'll use Apple Pay at places that take it, but as it's already been said I'm not going to go out of my way to buy stuff at places that take it just to use it.

I'm curious to see how this all ends up playing out next year when the big shift to Chip and Pin/Signature happens in retailers and then again in 2017 when it happens at gas stations.

I find Apple's solution so far to be the easiest to use, and the fact that it worked well with NFC readers even at places that weren't officially accepting it makes me think they spent a lot of time planning it out.

Once I saw this about Current C on Macrumors I know to stay faaaaaaaar away from it

MCX's payment solution, CurrentC, is currently in testing in Minnesota and takes a decidedly different approach to mobile payments. CurrentC does not use NFC, instead basing payments around the scanning of QR codes with a smartphone camera. CurrentC is highly beneficial to merchants, but appears to be of questionable value to customers given that it requires both a social security number and a driver's license number, along with access to a bank account.

The idea is that currentC will offer customer discounts/incentives along with the mobile convenience enticing the consumer to use it but yea the QR code and special code you need to enter before using at some locations is silly

I think were probably 5-10 yrs away from a true seamless way of a mobile payment system

I do believe apple is going to make a legit push though. Probably won't be perfect but it will be the best attempt so far.

I get your concerned but I answered your question regarding applepay storing or using your cc info it doesnt so that shouldve remove your concern regarding that issue... but if you cant understand or grasp the concept on how the technology works then just say that and trying to circumvent fraudulent activity by buying a gc or saying Ill just swipe my own card speaks volumes on your understanding of modern banking security

Again if you want to make a post about your concerns cool but to say its because of something that isnt true, thats just reckless

Thank you for the explanation Apple Fanatic, you can move on now

CurrentC will also be a new way to completely have directed ads coming your way.

"HI NYC757, we noticed the last time you were in a Duane Reade you bought Condoms, Milk, and Denture Cleaner, today we have some coupons for you."

No Thanks.

Just called att about doubling up my data, said it has to be on the fa,ily share plan, which I'm not on. I don't want to change my plan because I don't want to lose the unlimited on my line.

Your right about the ads

Funny thing is target does this now... I got a coupon for some condoms at checkout and the wife was looking at me like

I heard google wallet does this as well

I ordered incipio ngp, nice simple case. Fits well, buttons work well also.

Also ordered spigen neo hybrid, feels a lot better in hand than the incipio. I'm currently using the spigen, will keep the incipio as a back up/switch off case.

Only issue I have with the spigen is, the mute/vibe switch on the side is kind of hard to switch. Other than that, I'm very happy with it.

i had unlimited on my line and averaged at most 3-4 GB's a month. Plus they supposedly throttle your unlimited data after a certain amount.

The other three iphone lines i had on it weren't limited and they were going over their limits. I went ahead and switched to the 10GB family (which they doubled to 20GB for free). $135 before taxes not bad.

My only problem is, once my son, then daughter leave the house, I'll be forced to get off the family share plan. Who knows what data will cost then. I don't want go get screwed over and have to pay too much when that happens.

Anyone use passbook? Any issues? I plan on using it for the first time tomorrow to a sporting event... I'll prob print tickets as well, just incase.
