Any suggestions?

lol what are you talking about? 2 yr contract plans cost MORE than Edge/Next/Jump/etc plans. The reason is because the phone subsidy is built into the rate plan. YOU think youre getting a good deal paying 199 for a phone PLUS having a bill that is 25-30 bucks higher across the board, and say year 3 comes and you dont want a new phone your bill is STILL 25-30 bucks higher.

With the payment plans your bill is CHEAPER when a phone isnt being financed, so after two years or when ever you pay off your phone if you dont finance another phone you are paying less money per month for your bill SAVING you money. 2 yr contract and finance are the same, you save money if you chose not to get a phone but they are the same.

Once again, what is hard to grasp about this?

Using VZW for example.

a 10 gb plan is 100 bucks, and the line access cost for a smart phone is 40 bucks giving you a total of 140, a VZW edge 10gb plan is 100 but you get a discount of 25 bucks on the line access fee so your bill is 115.

So lets say both users want to get a 16gb iphone 6 which is 199 2 yr and 650 full retail/32.49 zero down.

2 yr contract = 199 for phone + 3360 (140 X 2yrs) =3559

Edge customer = 0 down for phone + (147.49 x 24)= 3539.76, the 147.49 comes from the 115 plan and 32.49 phone being financed.

so that is 3559 for 2 yr contract vs 3539 on vzw edge.

NOW lets say on yr 3 you dont want a new phone

with a 2 yr contract your plan is still 140, so you have 3559 you already paid in 2 yrs PLUS 140X12=1680, so 1680 + 3559 =5239 in the span of 3 yrs.

The same edge customer says he doesnt want a phone a yr 3 and his plan drops from 147.49 to 115 because he paid his phone off so you have the 3539.76 you already paid in the first 2 yrs and 115X12=1380 in yr 3, so 1380 + 3539.76 = 4919.76

5239 - 4919.76= 319.24 saved in 3 yrs if you dont buy a phone in yr 3, and  20 bucks saved if you just do edge instead of a 2 yr contract.
1. i don't have verizon we talking ATT and they don't seem to be offering that "edge" discount. even with said discount the phone your paying over the life of is still more you math is flawed because you are assuming the person is going to keep the phone past 3 years. if they do fine, but most likley they won't most apple users cop every 2 years.

2. So that means this argument is pointless if your taking into account promtions which non verzion customers cannot count on.

3. I have unlimted everything from them i don't do tiered plans

4. so for you its cheaper for ATT customer it's not.

So I ended up canceling my AT&T.com order after I saw the mid/late October ship date.

Walked into my local Radio Shack on Saturday looking to preorder a Silver 6+ 64GB. All the 64GBs were sold out in the 6+ so I went ahead and got the Silver 6+ 128GB instead.

I am spending an extra $100 but whatever, the value is there. Not to mention Radio Shack is giving away $50 iTunes GC's with any iPhone 6 / 6+ purchase.

Best part of all this is that I will have my phone on release date.

My AT&T order said November. Had to cancel that. I'm trying to find a spot with a 64 GB 6+ as we speak.

DId anyone pre order in-store from TMobile? I did on Friday and my order status is BACK ORDERED. Anyone know when TMobile will be shipping out? The store rep said I would have it by Friday but its not looking like thats going to happen.

i got charged yesterday

if its like anything that ships once charged its offcial

charges should be going out today from apple since its biz day mine got held up from Friday morning due to a fraud alert

Word I'm hitting the Apple store first thing Friday morning to cop. Mall rules wont allow the public to line up until 7AM and the phone releases at 8. Previous releases have been super chill although the line has been CRAZY.

Just from knowing business practice something sounds fishy about Verizon Edge plan if that is the case.  As a company why would you be willing to take less money over more time....id just doesn't make any business sense

I know ATT Next benefits ATT greatly...not the end user

Again, if you plan on getting a new phone every year the next plan does nothing but give you an upgrade every year. Since getting a new phone yearly is what many people do it's really not doing anything but giving you the upgrade price of the phone

Well I guess the trade-off is that it attracts more customers that usually wouldn't sign with any large carrier & 2-year contracts...the pricing on phone lines/data is only gonna get cheaper and cheaper, as these companies compete and having a smartphone is second nature at this point.

The screen isn't the only reason to get the + it's got a better camera and larger battery

What you gonna do? I know we talked about this awhile back
gonna buy the + when it's easily buyable  when I can just walk into att and cop with no waits. I also have an upgrade available in November I may even just wait til then to save a few hundo since I'm in no rush, my OPO and i5 will suffice

So Sprint 6+ are 4/6 weeks out if you order online?

This is still tripping me out. I mean why do they not have enough built to sale millions instantly and have them ready to ship in a timely manner. Only i6 gold will be deliverable by 9/19

Within a couple hours on sprint.com the 6+ was already delayed 3 weeks. I'm just going to try my luck in stores on the 19th. I just don't see how stores wouldn't get at least some 6+ to sell the day of... Right?

Thats a good point man repped.

But pardon me if i am wrong.  But on ATT next if you upgrade every year you have to turn your old phone in correct?  So you don't actually get to keep the phone.

You're basically leasing the phone for 18 months and paying off 2/3 of it as well

AT&T Next is a HORRIBLE idea for the consumer, but it GREATLY benefits the carrier.

Most ppl end up seling/trading in their phone anyway. Dont see what the problem is

And i thought it was 1 year/ half the phone price.

same way im thinking

So I just purchased a 16 gb iphone 6plus
Via ATT NEXT

Not to sure about the program did I just screw myself? I'm paying $31 and some change for 24 months on a phone worth $300? Can someone explain

So you're paying $744 in total with the option to upgrade in 12 or 18 months and the 6+ is $749

Did I miss something?

they dont know basic math

they think the phone costs $300 and its all interest

Have you even looked at the ATT next plans? lol VZW Edge was modeled after ATT Next, the discount is on the line access.
