The technology in your phone is the top of the spectrum btw. Next to military technology I think handsets come in second with leading edge sensors and chips.

Meh at the solar charger.. can't think of a time where I'd ever want or need to have my phone laying in the sun to charge it

seems like a gimmick, but I'll reserve judgement on that.

That sapphire screen is something I'm more excited about

It better not shatter when dropped on the corners.

I have a feeling its going to be super durable, but will still shatter with that one random drop :smh:

Can't wait though :smokin

i never actually seen a dude admit to being a sheep. Then he said let us be sheep in peace.

Switched from the iPhone since that God awful release of the 4.

Minus antennagate the 4 was great. Took me 3 months to get one since I missed preorder and dudes were reseling for $1000+.

If its truly sapphire crystal that won't happen. The only thing harder than sapphire is a diamond.

I simply am not buying that the iphone will come with a sapphire screen unless the phone is gonna double in price. Sapphire isn't cheap. Even though I am sure apple could get it at an reduced price because of the how much it would be buying still. I'll believe it when I see it on release day.

Apple has patented a method of fusing an extremely thin sapphire laminate sheet with cover glass, so it doesn’t need to produce pure sapphire displays to take advantage of some of the benefits.

Looks like I'll be getting my first iPhone. I'll miss the s pen feature of the note series, but then again I can always keep my note 2.

I see....that seems a lot more reasonable, Those Vertu phones have sapphire crystal screens and those run what...$6,000. I doubt iphones will ever get to that level, but the price would be above $1,000 retail easily for the 16gb if they put a full on sapphire crystal screen on these things.

not exactly the same but the camera lenses and fingerprint scanner is 100% sapphire crystals...

And for folks that dont know the difference between the gorilla glass and sapphire here is a little short comparison.

Gorilla Glass is a thicker stronger less flexible material that pretty much shatterproof (i know alot of ppl will say well ive had my iphone screen cracked before etc....) but the reason they crack is because you are using it "naked" and over time the glass gets weaken by surface scratches and being rubbed up against materials ala the roughness of a pants pocket etc... it wears the glass so thin that by the time you add a thin wore down screen and a drop it cracks.

Sapphire Crystals is a flexible transparent material that is virtually unsusceptible to smuges, scratches, scrapes etc... can withstand alot of pressure, but is weaker in terms of a direct impact blow...ie if you were to drop the phone face down directly on a rock or something of that nature.

Gorrilla Glass integrity weakens with extensive exposure to heat (probably why they switched to sapphire ie solar charging) Sapphire Crystal attracts and harness light energy. Your higher end watches use sapphire crystal glass. Gorilla Glass is mostly used on computer monitors, touch screen products... most cellphones and when they made plasma screen tvs.

Whats new with ios 8

Latest additions features of ios 8 (beta 3 came out recently)

Adjustable time lapse mode for Camera

Wifi calling and texting (can be used on all apple products)

Handoff: A mode that allows you to continue whatever you was/were doing on one device to another ie... if you were texting/calling on phone or facetime could continue the convo on your iPad or macbook etc. Or if you were watching a movie, listening to a song etc... you can continue doing what you were doing seamlessly on the next available device.

Instant Hotspot: automatically knows if there isnt a available wifi signal.. iphone will tether wireless to wifi enabled products.

Group messaging/video: Can conversate via imessage/video with more then one person simultaneously

Interactive Notifications: Basically pop up of notifications (pretty much how it does now) except you can choose to ignore/respond/mark as read/delete on the pop up.

Family iCloud: Pretty much can share apps etc... with ppl you set in your family group and can also share itunes account (you can if head of group deny/grant usage and purchases) You can also share icloud aka storage.

Always Siri: Basically siri is always on... you dont have to press the home to engage siri... a simple command of ok siri... and she will respond with what she can do for you...from there you use siri as you normally would.

Spotlight Enhancement: Now you can search info ie like wiki, and get pretty much any info using spotlight. Like if you want to know what time a local movie start. or the name of some game, or what movie did tom hanks win his first emmy award with etc...

Last known Location: Pretty much will send a gps coordinant, along with google image of the last place you were with your phone on before it died.... And if it dies it really doesnt "die" a person can send you messages along with alerts to let you know someone knows your phone died, etc and if someone is one the way etc... I guess would be good if you were stranded somewhere and someone tried to call text you. It would tell that person where you are and they can send a message like ok i know your stranded, its such and such im on the way...and will alert you in different intervals as far as where they are in pursuit to you.

Homekit: A built in feature that with compatible devices, smart homes etc.. you can control operate certain things via the phone. Like turning on houselights, opening garage doors, unlocking car doors, remote start car, set cable box recorder etc...things of that nature. You can also control these things vie siri aka like you can set the garage doors to open by saying iuno like "hey im home" or like shut off your tv/lights with a command like "ok im headed for bed"

Additional cities added to Flyover: Pretty much a mode in Maps that allows you to put in a city etc... and get a overview (birdseye view) of that particular city or area you choose...ie if you picked nyc you could see recent google images of that particular area like businesses, houses etc.

You can scan credit cards.. and they will be saved under your personal contact info... like you use the camera to scan your credit card and the info will be saved onto phone. Also scanner ala like red laser etc is built in. Meaning no 3rd party app is needed to scan barcodes

Also can download apps via siri... a command of like download or update the latest version of angry birds go and it will automatically d/l app.

Smart Photo... it will categorize photos based on similiar images.

Also have a mode to which if you take a picture of an object, built in google googles will do a search for similiar pictures etc.. along with info. Ie if you took a picture of a shoe you could get info such as the name of shoe, places near you that sells the shoe etc.

You can also choose between viewing a website in mobile/desktop mode

Recent files/images.. A mode to which if you want to send a file/photo etc.. it will display the last few files/images/messages you sent out if you want to attach/forward to a person

Detailed weather on Notification/Lockscreen: A 5 day forecast will be displayed along with a full report of current weather with a left swipe on the phone.

Guest mode: Allows a person to use iphone with limited access ie... you can restrict a person from seeing messages, previous calls, access to apps, or block them from opening mail, or using safari, or going online.

Call/text Notifications: Basically quick reply ie..bitesms and callbar. Dont have to be interrupted by a text/call while surfing, playing a game etc...

There is a mode that will automatically backup all info and settings etc... and wipe phone clean and lock it rendering it useless remotely via find my phone. Basically if you were to loose your phone or it is stolen, you can se find my phone make a exact backup of the phone erase it completely and it will lock the phone and a person wont be able to use it. It can only be unlocked and restored via cpu and find my phone, or with the access code you set.

Dark Mode: pretty much the same as the cydia tweak eclipse.

Podcast is a built in stock app.

Built in video message mode: Its an update..pretty much is like vine, and is built into imessage.

Traffic mode improvements: pretty much gives you up to date traffic conditions in Maps.. They also appear on the lockscreen/notification screen.
