because of the way it looks? the interior of the car?.. like someone else said lambo's are meant to be driven at a performance level also, but how many people do you know that actually do it? 10%? 20%?...

bottomline is its pointless to by a entry level luxury car from BMW, benz, audi...
here's an example, when lexus debuted their LS400 once upon a time, they SHOOK UP da luxury landscape because they they made a BETTER
luxury car that had MORE features for WAY LESS MONEY....THATS what you call a smarter buy.
instead of settling for a 328 or a c300, why dont people cross shop around to get da best value for their dollar?

Because if they wanted a Lexus, they'd buy a Lexus.

This thread reminds of when ESPN aired a small doc about Brock Lesnar. Dude was UFC heavyweight champion at the time and they had footage of dude driving to his gym in a Chevy Aveo. If I recall #ChevyAveo was trending for like a good 2 hours after this

seems like you still dont get it... FORGET THE BADGE ON THE CAR.. what IF, they bought the car for the looks of the interior and exterior? i have said it 4 times already... they are not trying to buy a BMW because its a BMW.. they like the way it looks.. they dont care about luxury gadgets..

a lot of psychoanalysis going on here...there are many reason people decide to buy things, so many that it isn't really worth parsing thru unless it is your profession or you are trying to make a similar decision yourself.
but lets assume your assertion about the 'type' of person this cardiologist is correct, given the MOST people really wouldn't know the difference between an entry level luxury car and whatever is one, two, & maybe even three levels higher in the luxury vehicle market, couldn't you say that this person made a shrewd decision to get a lil luxury cache (the ability to say, I drive an audi/BMW/merc) for maybe a lil more than a fully loaded asian/domestic make? cars are status symbols for many people, and as this thread makes painfully clear is people will judge you based on what you posses...furthermore some just believe luxury brands to be quality & status (be it hyped, perceived, or real) & willingly pay the premium.
I can't tell if you are being sarcastic/trolling with the mercedes (or any luxury manufacturer) entry level cars for teenagers & new college grads thing? those people have no fundage, entry level for 'luxury' whips is late 20s/early 30s. sure luxury brands want younger people to WANT their products but make no mistake, the are designed for the people with the income to buy them typically late 30s/40+....

I don't see what's so wrong about buying an entry level luxury.
I'm looking at a 335 coupe because that thing is flat out beautiful. I will take that specific car over any other series (minus the M and 6) in BMW's lineup. I've never been a fan of huge cars unless they're American Muscle

cars are big purchases for the VAST MAJORITY of people, it isn't a decision you can go into without shopping around, however we like what we like and sometimes decide that the boost the nameplate gives is worth the extra coin, value isn't exclusively in a products utility...there'd be a lot more Hyundais on the road if it were.
the irony of people on a board dedicated to one of the biggest brands in the world (whether one was, is, or ever had an interest in sneakers is somewhat beside the point, because niketalk is something of a brand itself), not being able to value of brand is too much...

Are you really that dense? A person can't like the body style of the 3 series not the 5 or the 7.. and only buy it for the looks? They don't care about how fast it goes, if the 335i has turbo .. they only want it because if the looks.. If you don't understand how people will buy stuff just because the way it looks your have no idea what people think outside of da heightz..

I'm not gonna front. Im sure a lot of people buy mercedes, bmw, audi because of the name and how it's luxury brand vs honda, toyota but why can't someone like luxury? Isn't acura, lexus, infiniti entry level luxury, better bang for your buck than bmw yet we got guys in here clowning infiniti. I cant drive infiniti but I cant drive bmw as well. It's like you only want me to drive a honda or chevy.
