Macklemore is corny as hell to me personally . . . but in theory he is an independent artist who makes music with a lot of social commentary and he dominated the show and was the most successful rapper this year, that's the opposite of what you are talking about​

1. I was speaking on the game in general. I think the rise of social media has,in part, contributed to music that is watered down. My commentary comes from being a person that listens to rap/hip-hop for the most part. Hip-hop is supposed to be progressive. Excuse me that I take exception to music that becomes popular because of some dumb dance, or because its video gets a bunch of hits. In those instances the art form takes a back seat, in my opinion, because it isn't the content that makes it popular. What makes good music to me(in terms of rap) are things that are lacking today. Music with soul,lyrical content,wordplay, flow, metaphors, narrative, etc. Why do you think Kendrick spit that verse?

2. How is it slurping the "good ol days"? Im just saying it the way i see it. Im not saying i dont like some of the music that is out now. There are plenty of newer artists that I rock with. Big K.R.I.T, Kendrick, J. Cole, Mac Miller, Pusha, Joell Ortiz, Action Bronson, Joey Bad***** and there are more im forgetting. Im saying alot of whats popular today would not have been popular yesterday because it lacks certain elements. Whats popular today, in general, isn't quality music.

3. I think Macklemore is a product of great marketing. Maybe its just my opinion, and im not hating or nothing, but I dont even consider him a good rapper. When I first heard thrift shop, I was like "there has to be something more to this "like "what am i missing?" No disrespect to him, but if hes on top there's something wrong with hip-hop.
