Nike Cortez Comeback?

The Nike Cortez, a classic Nike shoe, hated by many due to gang affiliations is loved by one of the best rap let's in the game in Kendrick Lamar. After the Control verse, people have seemed to already started to buy the Cortez again. I'm predicting the sales to skyrocket in the next couple of weeks. What are your thoughts on this sneaker?

I think the impact will be minimal at best

Honestly I think it'll make an impact similar to how Wiz did with Chuck Taylor's. There's already pics on Instagram quoting the line and people saying I just got the Cortez.

I work in a shoe store. I honestly don't know what impact you're talking about cuz I only sell a handlful of Chucks per week, if that. I sell even less Cortezes.
 
I was gonna iD a pair a couple of months ago but they were taken off

I had a pair of cortez in 7th grade. Found them in a clearance bin at a champs outlet. I loved them but people clowned on me. Adidas superstars were the the big thing at the time, lol
 
They were big in my middle school days.. everybody called them dopemans around here.

I haven't owned a pair in a while, and I was shocked to see that even these once a staple of the $20 or less section in discount shoe stores go for $50-80 now.

Seeing things like that are borderline insultive. But from a company's standpoint if people keep buying, why not?
 
I don't really see people wearing them though, so I'm not sure how much they're actually pulling in these days. I'd love to get a pair of Blue/White nylons though for some George Costanza living, and maybe a pair of the Red/White/Blue forrest gumps. I think I'm finally to the point where I could wear these and avoid being asked if I bang.

There's absolutely nothing about those that have any sort of draw for me. And for $120? I'm good. I don't see why they had to gussy up the shoe with a quilted nylon, it'd have looked perfect if they left it with traditional nylon panels.
