I thought The Wire & GOT would condition people for losing their favorite characters.

I've had the same argument with friends of mine who made the same move as you did. Jimmy dying was shocking for sure, and when it happened I reacted as did everyone else, but then I soon after realized the show would be fine without him. I wouldn't say Season 3 was very bad at all; Gyp was an awesome character and Cannavale killed that role. Didn't he win an Emmy for it?
Season 4 was great too, and really hit me in the feels in the season finale
. With Season 5 getting the rush job, IDK what to expect.Check the last page or two of this thread. I think I posted an article about his on-set behavior and how it got him the boot.

Man I hated that Margaret Schroeder character from day 1 and they certainly tried to maintain her storyline. Thats my only gripe with the show. Her combination of voice and accent has bothered me like no other. Worse than Fran Drescher.

Cats really didn't like Season 3? Thats my favorite season of the show because of Gyp. He was such a captivating villain. I swear if the show ended after season 3 somehow, I would have been content.

They did move on, and stopped watching the show. If the discussion is about what turned/turns people off from the show, their favorite character getting axed is a valid complaint.
If their main source of enjoyment from the show was watching Jimmy's story, why can't they complain/tune out if that is taken away.

I mean they gotta all be 110 min eps then.
I could see HBO turning their backs on BE when it stopped getting the high ratings and nominations. Aint really the shows fault it was apart of an era of other awesome shows.

Gyp was a classic gangster. 
I liked Jimmy a lot but the quality of the show didn't suffer w/o him. They still had plenty of good characters/actors left. Nucky, Harrow, Chalky, Gyp, Capone. The show was still top notch.

I gotta say season 3 was the best IMO... The way Harrow went ham at the end was some
Nucky having his back to the wall and the team up of Capone and Chalky.....
Gyp was a great bad guy too.... Nucky thought he was the boss after taking Jimmy out then he went against a real gangster from NY...

You ain't even mention Van Alden, Rothstein, Lansky, Luchiano, Torio etc.
The dynamic personalties of the characters is what makes this show so amazing. I really hate Margaret though, hearing her voice makes me tight :x

1931 was a crazy year for Capone that's for sure.

It was also the year that the Castellammarese War ended and Lucky took full power in NY. I really hope they devote some time to Rothstein if they don't thats just messed up because he died earlier than 1931....
