Boardwalk Empire Season 5 Thread - Series Finale - Eldorado

Jimmy was a loser. Nucky is a much better character.

In regards to Margaret, she's too smart for her own good. Her best scene was when she stole the ledger from the feds and gave Nucky, who was on the verge of losing it all, a pep talk.

The show was conceived to be about Jimmy, a fictional character in a historical fiction world filled with real people.

Then Michael Pitt turned out to be a **** so they killed him off, shrugged at each other in the writer's room and were like "I guess now we focus the whole thing on the least interesting character in the show?" (Nucky.)
Idk, kind of sounds like DuckTales to me.
Yeah S1 I never got the feeling this show was gonna be Jimmy's story.

I mean to make it sound like Pitt was an a-hole so they killed him off when it took multiple seasons to write him out of the show instead of just killing me kinda points to the writers always having a plan.

Jimmy got his turn along with Margaret, then it focused it bit on Nucky and Eli betraying him, then it transitioned to focusing hard on Harrow and Chalky, they got their turn then back on to Nucky now. The shows basically been Nucky Thompson mirroring Nucky Johnson with a supporting cast of fictional characters with real life characters moving things along.

Bruh I been told you what it is like 2 replies ago. You ignored it and kept going.

How can I not yawn at you just repeating yourself especially when it's stuff I already addressed?

Not my fault bruh.

Never knew how close Luciano was with Frank Sinatra. If this wasn't the final season, I would have loved for a Sinatra character, even as a cameo.

Enjoyed tonight's episode.

Van Alden was hilarious.

Sooo who won that arguement based on tonights episode? Because no one was reading your guys posts..

Anyway, great episide. Idk about you guys, but this season from the beginning till now has been very captivating. I'm assuming Nucky and Maranzano came to some kind of understanding after the failed hit? Didnt seem like he was in on it...I could be misinterpreting, but they wouldnt just cut to the next scene if Nuck and Maranzano had a conflict.

Its also beginning to seem like there will be no payoff of significane to Gillians storyline, which leads me to believe producers kept her on board just to get her a pay day out of loyalty or as a contractual obligation.

Never noticed Van Aldens wife is pretty cold

Young Nucky's teeth annoyed me the whole episode.

Good to see Nuck back on hiS killa ****.

Hopefully, Chalky finds Narcisse and offs his on switch. Never liked him.

Damn, while teenage/20s Nucky looks weird but nothing like him son sounded just like Steve Buscemi! :wow: That **** was wild when he said his name. Props to that kid for practicing.

Close call after close call with Nuck :wow: Plus I was waiting all ep for him to get the bad news about Sally. No words for that rat bastard Torrio, he tried to pull the same thing that went down with Al last season. Hope Nucky at least gets him killed.

"Chester, that would sound much better further away"

"I for one refused to be ruled by fear.... COMING!"

"Well land ho"

Back to back Van Alden lulz. Whole season bringing the lulz for it's finale

Man I thought Mickey was gonna be a real rat there for a sec  Not fond of the racist jabs but it is his nature in that situation. Hope Chalky don't let that temptress lure him back in to her life threatening yambs and just kills Narcisse and then runs all of Harlem.

Damn Van Alden's wife is so cold :smh: Uncalled for. Eli need to lay off that drink. Can't trust him with anything or anybody :smh:

Poor Gillian :smh: :frown:

As for the argument, Margaret told them what the deal would be and like I suspected the blackmailer backed down and quickly took the only check she'd be getting out of all of this otherwise she wouldn't want to risk it. Then Margaret, who I knew didn't lose her job, doesn't skip a beat and goes about gaming her boss with another account where she now can withdraw funds from under a fake name pretending it's Nucky's doing :smokin

That Doyle kid is killing me man. Clearly hes someone....OR BE writers knew we would do this and that hesitance or whatever by Nucky was done just to **** with us.

oh so there was a lawsuit? and she did have actual lawyers? i thought that was all a bluff?

and margaret is now blackmailing her company, does all that blackmail hate still stand?

thought her job wasnt handlin accts or money?

i thought she was paying to keep her name out the paper, not to avoid a lawsuit?

i thought there was no possibility nucky would be sued, but thats not why he paid right? its because he wanted to keep margarets name out the paper for being his wife right?

i thought she was after only money, so if she blackmailing why not ask for like a million and not just the money she was legally entitled to  and had means of getting anyway?  i mean sure all she did was save herself the time and money it would take to sue. knowing that margaret is married to nucky is such valuable information, it had to be worth so much more to keep that a secret no?

and if margaret was so bulletproof from the lawsuit then why bring up the signatures?

Margaret's hypocrisy annoys me. Is what it is I guess.

Eli seems like this guy who will never really get it together. Straddling the line at best.

Almost wish I didn't know Lansky's story it would make the character more interesting to me.

Van Alden: "I for one refuse to be ruled by fear"
Wife: "Husband!"
Van Alden: "Coming dear."

Mickey Doyle is one of my favorite characters, dude reminds me of my aunts husband. lol

"I know you can tune a piano, but can you tuna fish. Hehehehe"

Am I the only one that doesn't see that Doyle's kid being Tommy?

My man Nucky about to catch some bodies. :nerd:

Great episode. Dude that played young adult Nucky did an excellent job.

I don't see things ending well for Nucky or Chalky.

I can't buy that kid being Tommy at all, but I think Gillian is eventually gonna play some part in the main story. Right now she's COMPLETELY cut off from the rest of the show.
They could have ended her story last season with her arrest but I feel that they brought her back for a reason.

Last season we were all "Good riddance", now I'm seeing "Poor Gillian. I think they're building sympathy for her as the flashbacks build towards Nucky pimping her out to get raped by the Commodore (and Jimmy's conception consequently).

Also speaking of Tommy, came across this theory in the IGN comments... if it turns out to be true, it would be pretty clever:
Tommy is back, he is the assistant in the beginning of the episode who tells Nucky that Doyle wants to see him. They've been focusing on this character for the past few episodes for a reason. He calls himself "Joe Harper". In the story Tom Sawyer, Tom's best friend is called "Joe Harper". I think it is obvious it is him. Gillian is still around because "Joe Harper" is going to do something very bad to Nucky... that's why they are doing the flashbacks. To emphasis when the Commodore raped Gillian (that will be shown in the coming episode(s)). Pay back will ensue. If that spoils the show, I'm sorry but that's what happens. The actor playing "Joe Harper" was obviously chosen because of his resemblance to his father Jimmy. Look at his hair style, it gives it away.

Casting job on teen Nucky :wow: spot on. Still not sure how I feel about his life being flashbacked; just seems unnecessary.

With the Sheriff paying no mind to Nucky wanting more gully responsibilities, Nucky will probably start arranging jailbait for the Commodore to get that promotion.

Joe Harper looks to be at least 17-18, Tommy was like 5 before the 7 year jump.

Can't see any positive end for Chalky, he's wanted by the law and has no where to go. I can only see him being offed, hopefully he gets to Narcisse first. Also, a possibility that it is his kid with Daughter.

Nucky literally has no one left for him. Margaret is in his corner and now Chalky but, Chalky is nothing in the bootleg game.

Interesting that he's shorting Joe Kennedy's company.

We all know Capone gets caught for tax evasion.

I can see Nucky getting killed by someone close to home, but it'd be interesting to see how Will plays a whole part of this. IMO, he will have a big role coming up, he works for the DA and I can see he wants revenge for what Nucky did to Eli and also Will wants to make a name for himself. Wouldn't surprise me to see Will turn on Nucky.

Yea, I thought the same thing about that possibly being Chalky's child.

Anyways, at the 7 second point, looks like some chick is telling that young dude "you'll be recognized" :nerd:

oh so there was a lawsuit? and she did have actual lawyers? i thought that was all a bluff?
Damn son. You really don't pay attention. She showed up with her lawyer to get paid. What lawsuit? There was none. That was a settlement with the company which Margaret ponied up the money from Nucky. That's what I just said in my post. That's what we were told in the previous ep.

There was no lawsuit. Like you do understand why Margaret was able to manipulate her boss right? If there was a lawsuit she wouldn't be able to.

and margaret is now blackmailing her company, does all that blackmail hate still stand?
What blackmail hate? I don't think you understood what I meant or what I was saying when I said all AR's wife is doing is blackmailing. You were trying to paint this as she deserved justice for the crime. No she she just wanted money cuz AR left her none.

Margaret isn't just blackmailing her company she's manipulating them cuz what she's doing is based off a lie :smokin

Respect the hustle.
thought her job wasnt handlin accts or money?
I never said that. I said she doesn't handle accounts or money hence she isn't guilty for what her boss is guilty and her company is liable for. Poor memory
i thought she was after only money, so if she blackmailing why not ask for like a million and not just the money she was legally entitled to  and had means of getting anyway?  i mean sure all she did was save herself the time and money it would take to sue. knowing that margaret is married to nucky is such valuable information, it had to be worth so much more to keep that a secret no?
Cuz Margaret said this was the deal and there would be no other. This is how you stop blackmailers. She knew the deal and knew Margaret aint playing. "You're right where you belong, aren't you?"…… "Perhaps I am."

It wouldn't matter if she asked for a million, she didn't even get the full amount of AR's account. She got exactly what Nucky told Margaret. No more, no less.
