I am a heroin addict. Ask me anything.

Hi guys.

So, as many of you on here know, I am a heroin addict. Recently, I've been asked by several members to do an AMA, so here it is. I want to stress that this is a crippling disease, and NOT something that should be glorified. There is a huge stigma connected to heroin use, so I wanted to clear some stuff up for you guys. I am quite educated about the subject of addiction as well.

Ask me anything, and I will answer truthfully. I obviously can't answer questions about location and such, but I will try to get to as many questions as I can.

I hope this is ok for this board. I am trying to provide a glimpse into a life that many people don't have a clue about. There are tons of misconceptions about addiction and heroin, and I want to clear some things up.

Ha, IAMA heroin user that holds down a 9-5. I would definitely do it. I promise that I wouldn't promote the use of drugs because even though these two dudes seem to think I'm glorifying my use, I'm really doing it because it rewired my brain to basically say that dope is the only thing that can make me happy.

I got into it because I snorted Oxy for the first time with my best friend, and it was like.... the best ever. Started using it more frequently and then soon I was just hooked. I couldn't afford OC's any more, so soon I started using heroin. I was smoking it for a while and then I started slamming it because it was cheaper. And here I am. What I keep trying to tell people is that they really don't understand what goes on in an addicts brain until they experience it. Like, really. It completely destroys your reward system, so your brain stops producing endorphins by itself.
Goddamn. So you pretty much feel like you're past the point of no return I guess.

How much do you spend per week on drugs? Have you been to rehab before?

Hey bro. I remember you posting about that on here before

I'm so sorry for your loss. ODs are so hard to handle because it leaves so many questions with friends and family.

I got into it because I started doing opiates (Oxycontin) and it rapidly progressed into a full-blown addiction. I was snorting OCs, then I started smoking them. Even that got too expensive, so I started smoking h. Soon after, I started slamming it (shooting).

It's a lifetime commitment for most, because it's just so hard to stay clean. Getting clean is really tough, but they staying clean part is SO HARD. Right when you think you're in the clear, the urges start and you go into autopilot. At least I do.

I'll say a prayer for you.

This isn't reddit, fam. As much as I'm sure you'd like to shed some light onto the matter and educate people about the realities of drug addiction, you are doing yourself a disservice by continuing to use. There will never be a better time to quit than the present. I simply hope you haven't lost any major part of your life to the stuff.

I hope you get help.

How's your relationship with your family? Any siblings? If yes, younger or older? Do they know about your addiction?

Makes sense looking back at your responses on raves and festivals. With that said, will you continue to encourage people on NT to do drugs are raves because you say it's pointless to attend them and be sober?

You see, this is my problem. You're an addict, you've known you were an addict, and you still encouraged people, kids even, on NT, to do drugs when attending music festivals. No sympathy from me.

:smh:

Does your fam know of your habit? And have you hurt anybody close yet bc of the drugs?

What unsavory things have you done to get your fix or drug money?

What got you into OCs in the first place?

At what point did you realize "oh ****, this ain't good"?

I think he knows that. Quitting an addictive chemical is a bit more complicated than hitting the X button on his browser.

To ask a question, what type of physical withdrawals occur when you stop using, and how long does it take before they begin?

After he passed, I heard he also started with the prescription pills, which was/is an epidemic up here in MA. I had seen him do cocaine numerous times also, but always assumed it was just a partying phase.

I could never imagine what it's like to be on it, come down from it, and detox from it. My only reference is Bubbles from the Wire.

I actually am close with a lot people who either were or still are into H. My friend has to take some medication (methadone?) with him everywhere he goes in case he starts getting dope sick.

Why is it better than sex?

Who has played the best heroine addict in a TV/movie role from what your experience on heroine is like?

Do you "boot" or whatever they call it when you mix the blood first before injecting.

BG said he wishes he never started using dope. Have you ever listened to BG while on it and had a deeper understanding of his raps?

So what is you hustle when trying to get together $$. Not looking for money for drugs, just looking for extra cash in my pocket :nerd:

Lost my ex of 7 years from opiate addiction. She started with oxys and her habbit got out of control and started shooting heroin. Its a serious problem and mainly everyone I know is hooked. Its sad to see young adults completely lose it all on this drug.

Got friends going through the same thing. Get well bro. Sounds like you got it in you.

I hope this is part of your recovery process and not a war story session good luck man
