Who had the hottest run in the 2000's?

50 had ****** in the d walking round with beauty supply spinning chains, funny beaters and du rags feeling invincible.

Em sold the units...but 50 had EVERYTHING.

like no one (except white folks ) wanted to be Em...50? S!!! i was doin my pushups lol

Definitely 50/G-unit. Some good times back then man especially for the ny rap scene. As ninja already stated we had dipset d-block & g-unit, all 3 groups were killing out here (late 02-05).

The fact that @ninjahood  is the only one to bring up Dipset in this thread makes me think none of you guys are old enough to have remembered the 2000s.

50 and G-Unit

Eminem

Jay-Z and Rocafella

Cam'Ron and Dipset

Nelly

Lil Wayne

(not exactly in order, but pretty close)

LOL at people including Kanye West.  I am a huge Kanye fan, but he doesnt even come close to seeing anyone listed above.

50/G-Unit - 02-06
Eminem - 99-06(?)
Nelly - 00-04
Cam'Ron/Dipset - 04-06 (mayyyyybe 07)
Jay-Z/ROC - 98 - 05 (Jay-Z solo was obviously longer)
Lil Wa_n_ - 04 - 09
Kanye - 04 - 10

Kanye very well should be on that list. Him and Wa_n_ pretty much owned the latter half of the 00's, and even the first 2 years of the '10 decade.

Kanye never had one year where it was absolute juggernaut domination like 50 or Wayne, but he's had around 10 years of consistently being one of the top 2-3 guys in rap.

I'm sure a lot of the guys who had a year, two or three of absolute domination would trade.

I'd venture to say Wayne was still very much hotter, but history and the Complex write ups paint 07 as Ye's year because of the 50 sales battle and 08 Wayne's year because of C3 doing a million

But it's all subjective so you could say they were equal since people are either going to say Wayne or Ye for that year

Jay - 98-05
Nelly - 00-04
Em - 98-04
50 - 03-06
Ja Rule - 00-03
Dipset - 03-06
Wayne - 05-09
Kanye - 04-09
DMX - 98-02
Lil Jon - 01-06
Sean Paul - 01-04
Lil Bow Wow - 00-04

Surprised nobody mentioned LUDACRIS: 00-05

How I view it at least in my area at the time was Wayne in 2007 was the hottest rapper in the streets. He was on the verge of becoming raps biggest artist from a mainstream pov. We all know he had been dropping heat for at least 5 years prior but wasn't seeing kanye popularity wise. Kanye in 2007 was the hottest overall doing just under a mil with Graduation. I can vividly remember everyone blasting the album and seeing his face everywhere around that time.

Solid list. You can throw Lupe in there. Gucci at the tail end. Ja rule deserves a mention as well.

Gucci and Lupe are two of my favorite rappers period....but nah...they weren't "running things". They were more "hot". There music though :pimp:

Ja Rule was def an omission though. Don't see how I forgot him smh.

And yup. I agree. Kanye DEFINTLEY had 07.

We gonna ignore what jeezy and t.i were able to do ?

No clue why people forget T.I. like he wasn't one of the most popular rappers in the game from 03-08. And dropped a movie and went to jail at the same damn time

He was the hottest rapper out the South until people hopped on the Wayne bandwagon around 06.

Oh man not sure how I forgot how big T.I. was during that time  think that just shows how at one time multiple people from everywhere were able to shine until the mainstream just amounted to Young Money Radio. T.I. was coming into his own on Trap Muzik and Urban Legend, cemented himself with KING, and transcended with Paper Trail. And this is coming from someone that wasn't at all a fan of his

50 by far. I'm European so I have a different perspective.

He dominated worldwide. I don't think any rapper besides Eminem has come close to 50's run here on the other side of the pond. Oddly enough I've barely heard Wayne on tv or the radio during his prime years. A Milli and Lollipop got play but that's about it.

G unit clothing is heavy in Eastern Europe

Dudes be tryna downplay what TIP did. Like he wasn't the first to go hard with the trap lane.

The hottest buzz I've ever seen was 50's. Wayne was close, Kanye was too but 50 was a monster late 02 to late 05.

It's weird though cuz back in 08 I woulda thought Wayne would have more staying power than Kanye but in 2016 Kanye is still a hot name while people don't really care about Wayne except for his hardcore fans that are still waiting for old Wayne to come back.
