i was rockin out to those tracks for a minute

Sounds like some of you think Wayne's about to go back to rapping like he was circa 2003-2007.

I don't see that happening @ all.

Seems like Wayne measures how dope his music is by the amount of Grammys/bet awards he brings home.

He may start makin music with more direction but its still gonna be the same safe music that's geared toward the mainstream. Can't really see him potentially jeopardizing his success by changing his music too much.

He's too far gone. Wayne ain't never gonna be close to what he used to be.

Wayne is the type of artist that IF he went back to his lyrical prime, he would still be successful . . . Depending on when you view his prime . . . his lyrical prime and popularity were one in the same . . .

IMO his last good project was No Ceilings . . . he was good money until he decided to do the rock thing and then just was kinda trash IMO after his bid . . . can't blame him, Pac said that prison kills all creativity . . . his contributions from No Ceilings and before are appreciated though

Guess we will see on Friday

Had to google this to see if it was real. I'm ready for more faster rapping 2 Chainz.

Dudes been *** since C3. C2 and D2 were the last Wayne projects that was noteworthy. The rest were either trash or so-so.

If he goes back to that C2 form, I'll be happy as ****. Album is flames top to bottom.. Its also big of him to acknowledge his obviously decline in quality music

I'm sleepy and I feel like backtracking through previous Wayne threads and reposting stuff, but I'll give it a go. Even in his prime, he was only slightly above average. 5+ minute freestyling doesn't make someone the greatest ever, that just means you can say words for a certain period of time. Between 05-08 during his rise, there were a very good number of mainstream rappers flat out better than him, but since none of them claimed to be "best rapper alive", he took advantage of it and his drone-like fans shot him to stardom like a rocket. Being in Arkansas during that time (right next to the Boot), the Wayne stanning was incredible, and when I would listen to his songs, I felt like I was in the twilight zone.

Nothing that he has ever spit on the record was ever worthy of

Sure, he's made good songs, but hasn't done that in years, and even during his peak, he was only pretty decent. To me he's the most mediocre artist ever to elevate themselves to stardom and crown themselves king, and people got complacent and accepted him doing so. And he did that all while the heavyweight rappers weren't concerned with him, and his radio competition were releasing "Chain Hang Low", "Lean Wit It", and "Chicken Noodle Soup". No wonder people let him have the crown.

Qft. Sad thing is I've tried to talk to others and really try to understand a differing opinion but the cult like fans from this era make it damn near Impossible to have to this conversation.

One of the most accurate descriptions of Lil Waynes career was from Ninjahood. I had the Weebay face when I read and I'll never forget it.
lil wayne's rap ability was like a mountain...started at da bottom, hit a peak, now its on da massive decline.
I listened to all of the listenable tracks on D4 on the way to work today. Hilarious. I feel bad for people who think hes coming with anything other than that with D5, hes not about to write a mxitape with serious bars in 5 days.
