OFFICIAL Atlanta Falcons 2016 Season Thread - NFC SOUTH & CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS #RISEUP

Biermann and Ewing out for the season :smh:

Tough for Ewing, two years in the league, two season ending injuries. Snelling will fill in at FB, but I hope we pickup John Conner.

Y'all thought the Biermann and Ewing injuries were bad, Weatherspoon with a foot injury to the IR with designation to return in Week 11 and S-Jax may miss 2-4 weeks now :smh: :smh: :smh: :smh: :smh: :smh: smh.

What the hell happened to Spoon?

Matt Ryan needs to step up and take the reigns this year. He needs to ball out.

The team plays deflated.

Do they practice too hard during the week or something? I think we might be in need of a coaching change this offseason. We got that OKC Thunder syndrome. With the team we field, it's impossible not to get 10 wins. I could coach this team to 8-8, so how good of a job is Mike Smith really doing?

im a falcons fan too and @batt_mann85 is my twitter i usually tweet during all the uga and falcons games but todays loss killed me i was so mad man i didnt see the game cuz i was at work but i was following it on scorecenter. but is any other fans mad that the front offices for not making moves as quickly as other teams like denver losing clady for the year and soon as they found out he was gone for the year they signed winston justice and how do you guys feel about us going out and signing shawne merriman i think it would be a smart move now considering we need help on our defense and he to me would compliment weatherspoon once he gets back

I think we pull out the win this Sunday. Its definitely good to see them using Snelling more, dude is UNDERRATED. What I noticed from Sunday though was an improved pass rush, plus the o-line didn't look too bad at all. We'll be alright; we just have to weather the storm while our main guys are out.

Where the falcons lack and ALWAYS HAVE is the secondary. Until they decide to spend good money on some DBs they will forever have a mediocre pass defense. Not knocking the guys we have but they just are not elite level. I mean im sure its what we can afford at the moment but a cpl "notable" DB draft picks/trades/free agents would be huge. IMO i feel its the missing link, other than us missing players from injuries

If you think about, each big loss the past 3 years, its been a pass play that beats us

It was tough watching that game. I was in the Dome and watched as fans filed out after the Pats took the 30-13 lead. Not executing that 4th down at the goal line came back to bite us. The L's we've taken this year aren't much different from the wins we got last year. We're just on the other side of the decision. That heart attack football ain't the game to play. The defense is ******, as we know, but got damn Koetter needs to keep running that 2 minute offense. We execute EVERY TIME we run it!

No lie we should just run the 2 min drill on every possession we are automatic everytime but then when its 1st and goak we can never come up with 6 .. only 3

I was like damn when it got to 30-10/13 i left the room and went to take care of some stuff but turned it on in that room. Finally came to bed and kept watching thinking damn everyone left wouldnt it be something if we came back n they shut the people out like they did the heat fans .... we started coming back im in the bed laying down screamin hahaha

You tight though that heart attack play wont cut it every game. We need a better secindary point blank but mainly we need everyone healthy and its a whole new ball game

Next time :ohwell: (not too many of those though)

It's easy to pinpoint the blame on the secondary, hell it's been ****** the past 5-6 years, but also remember we have two rookies at CB and there hasn't been any significant pass rush. We're in the bottom fourth of the league in sacks. And I can't recall ever seeing so much space given to receivers and open plays in my life. Every pass catch is 6+ yds and/or a 1st down. In the Pats game only 4 or 5 of Brady's passes were tight throws or contested, other than that it was passes to wide open guys. Any QB in the league can make those throws. I have more questions scheme wise than personnel, even though that can be improved as well.

Oh yeah without a doubt I agree with what you are saying. The secondary has always been sub-par IMO. But yeah anyone can complete passes with no coverage, especailly teams like the Partriots and Broncos who have guys that run those 5,6,7 yard routes.

Our problem with the pass rush though is just our Injuries i think. I mean the ones we have could always do better, but i dont think ATL has ever been known for sacks, which sucks. Its good to put some fear in a QB

Before the game they showed an interview with Roddy and Julio, did anyone see that? Basically they were asked if anyone on the patriorts could hold them, eventually they both said no. I was like great, now both of yall gonna get shutdown. And it looked like they did for majority of the game, especially with Gonzalez pullin in what 12 receptions 2 TDs

Hats off to the defensive playcalling for New England, they took away the deep ball for the most part. Douglas and Tony G did a good job. I'ma hate when he retires, if he gets his hands on the ball it's a catch

The last field goal we kicked on 3rd down who was the 6'8" TE we had in!? Theres no way we coukdnt comolete that pass but it was thrown high and out front so the little DB made a play on it. Man that was crucial, if that woukd have been on his body it was a 3 pt game and the next drice we kick a field goal and go into OTinstead of the 4th and 7 pass to Roddy

Def hats off to Pats D though

It's official our defense is ****. NO PASS RUSH these past few plays. Which subsequently results in a TD :smh:

I know ive been b***** about the secondary but that pass rush is ridiculous, how they can expect the secondary to cover someone running all over the places in circles for 5-7+ seconds
