OFFICIAL Atlanta Falcons 2016 Season Thread - NFC SOUTH & CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS #RISEUP

Well Julio is indeed out will have surgery monday. Also he is up for a new deal on his contract this off season hopefully we treat him right n keep him in atl

I hate to overly scrutinize the negatives now that we're down, but I racked my brain and did some research looking at the past 6 years of transactions. We've whiffed for the most part on high draft picks and big name FA signings: Jamaal Anderson, Dunta Robinson, and Ray Edwards were guys on the defensive side of the ball who were supposed to be stalwarts and didn't do ****. Look at our issues, D-Line/DBs, we can directly tie them to bad moves.

so now that we lost julio we got reports that we signed robiskie what exactly is he going to help us do cuz i dont see it......
and with all the talk about sean merriman wanting to play for us i dont see why we didnt give him a shot when weatherspoon went down regardless of his history it wouldnt have hurt to me cuz at one point in his career he was a force......
man idk how this season is going to go i had us losing 6 total this season but shhhhh i scraped that when we lost to the dolphins
is it safe to start sayin mike smiths time may be starting to dwindle in atlanta :nerd:

Robiskie was highly rated coming out of Ohio St but didn't do anything with the Browns. Hopefully being coached by his dad will be lead to production from him. I say nah on Merriman. He hasn't done anything since 2007. Why waste a spot on him when we have more promising young LBs we can develop? I think the injuries have given Smith a though, had we underperformed like we have at full strength I would say we might have to get rid of him. As it stands now nah. I am a fan of Bill Cowher, he would be a good coach to have going into our new era (staff, players, stadium).

What happened with them signing Richard Seymour?

This :nerd:

****, with the way we're playing he might not wanna come here this season.

Inj Bug got the best of there team, The nerve racking part is that they have been loosing most of there games late in the game other than that gotta get more production out of guys like Harry Douglas & Rodgers now J. Jones out for the season they know what they are gonna get outta Gonzo already

i agree with the bill cowher thing remember the rumors when he first retired that he would be gone for a certain amount of years and then come back with the falcons :nerd:

and as far as merriman goes i say give him a shot heck we wasted money on lofa tatupu come on now he never played a snap with us so why not with merriman at least he willl spark that defense since weatherspoon is gone

i still dont think quizz has it man he just isnt a every down back like they are tryna hype him up to be and how about the gonzo trade back to kc rumors how do yall feel about that?? would you pull the trigger and do it?

Damn, I forgot all about that Tatupu signing. His contract wasn't huge so I really wouldn't call it a waste. I'm just not sold on Merriman at all, it's gotta be better options out there than him.

Re: Gonzo. He made his bed, he has to sleep in it. He's probably pissed he's on this ****** team, but he can't backpedal and ask for a trade. We won't trade him.

And Quizz doesn't have much hype. Not unless I missed out on it? He is what he is, a guy who can return kicks, be a Sproles-like guy out the backfield, but not an every down back. Only reason he's starting is because we don't have anything else. I think we do need to look at a RB though. I knew SJax would be injured the moment we signed him :smh:

Cedric Benson and Kevin Smith are two free agent RBs I like

i dread everytime the espn app goes off now, it's like everytime it goes off another falcon is hurt.

I just read about Roddy. Can it get any worse!? I have a feeling Kevin Cone will have a solid game, he's a big target, got his first career catch in the Jets game.

May be a battle but i think we will come away with a W.

Honestly if we can play decent ball for 4 quarters we are still in the hunt. Saints will lose at least 2 more games which will make the final games of the reg season interesting .. especially with carolina playing pretty good lately

i agree but i can see the saints losing at least 4 more game cuz i think SF will get it together and seattle will give em hell and i think they will lose one to carolina and again when they come to play us in atlanta cuz we always come alive for that game

Yeah I was counting SF and them coming to play us at Home ... Seattle is tough but when theyre not at home theyre def a different team.

I sure hope so. ATL just needs to take care of their games 1st and foremost and let the rest play out. Never wanna be in that sitution where you rely on others to get you in, cuz it almost never pans out in your favor

This season is over, guys. I wanna believe in this team but performances like this keep me from doing so. Mike Smith needs to go... Or something needs to change big time in the offseason. I feel bad for Tony :frown:

The big boss will always get the most scrutiny, but it's personnel that's been holding us back. We can point to some crucial playcalling errors and questionable schemes, but nah we've been outphysicalled (word to Courtney Upshaw) and outplayed all year. O-Line can't protect/run block, d-line can't rush, secondary can't cover. Salutes to Harry, Drew Davis, and Darius Johnson for stepping up the past couple weeks, this bodes well for the future. We know we got some guys that can be weapons. Things may look bleak but I'm still a fan Ima still root for my boys and I'll still rock my Falcons gear with pride.

i will too but i have to say this season is done and in all honesty i think it may be a better move for us to just go ahead and trade TG away to KC for some OL or DL help and some draft picks if they really want him but im still dont think they will be going to the superbowl....... just dont see a reason to hold on to him when he stated yesterday that it is now up to the organization on what they wanna do with him dont get me wrong im all for keeping him i just dont see a reason to hold on to him when we not going to do anything this season so why not get something for him. not likely to happen but idk we will see i guess just hate to see my boys look sooo bad :smh:

So much for trading away tony G, chiefs offered a 5th too..i woulda been all over that... hopefully we can rebound and get some nice picks in the draft for once this offseason.. we should have decent cap space for free agency too ..better be used entirely on the trenches..

I would hope that we land somewhere with a top 6 pick come 2014. I'd love Anthony Barr or Jake Matthews on our team. The o-line should be patched up next year as well as some of the holes on defense.

but we also have to redo julio's contract too

I'm finally ready to call it a season. 2 weeks in a row we've turned the ball over and been blown out.

Let's look at the positives, we see where the team needs improve

(1) We see the importance of depth: Going forward the front office needs to have quality depth at every position. Only 3 position groups (LB, RB, WR) have had replacement level production from the backups.
(2) Veterans at key position groups: Having Rocky and Trufant playing a lot of corner has hurt us, they've taken their lumps and will be better because of it. But, bringing them on slowly could've helped.
(3) Pass rush: We haven't been able to find a guy who can produce like John Abraham. We HAVE to get some more pass rushers from somewhere!
(4) DBs: See #2.
(5) Schemes/Playcalling: Nolan and Koetter, sometimes I see the stuff they implement and :x Yall already know what I'm talking about.

I'm a die hard Atlanta sports fan, so I know about taking L's. I'm at peace with this season and ready to move forward. I'm still rooting for the boys, but I hope we take steps to be better in 2014 and beyond!
