NEW BASKETBALL SHOE FROM NIKE !!! NIKE ZOOM HYPERREV . CHECK INSIDE FOR PICS,SPRING 2014...OPINI

I think all this 'hyper' stuff, although i'ts marketed as innovative, lightweight, and high tech, is actually designed with the single purpose of being extremely cheap to produce.  It just so happens that lighter weight usually means less material so they can sell it as performance when really they're just cutting corners.  These are literally socks with soles, and for $140? Even if it does perform well I don't see how they can justify that price point.

These actually look pretty cool

not sure about casual appeal...but look like flames for the court.

Nike doesn't even try to hide this. Flywire, fuse, etc. are all to save money more than anything else.

Cheaper to produce with very poor durability. The Lunar crap which they are touting as a breakthrough in cushioning, bottoms out so fast if you use it daily. They are truly marketing geniuses for repackaging and repricing their old entry level foam based shoes as cutting edge and getting the 'sneakerheads' to go ham for them.

Mind boggling to see these same cats pay $300+ for seamless plastic shoes too.

Yep, I love the lunarlon at first, but my LG4's are already dead from casual wear and a few rough weekends of traveling.

Engineered around the less-is-more design principle, the Nike Zoom HyperRev maximizes the foot’s natural motion where it’s needed most.

Developed with the speed and quickness of phenom point guard Kyrie Irving top-of-mind, the Nike Zoom HyperRev maximizes performance and comfort. The upper features mesh and a dynamic Nike Flywire system made up of super-strong, ultralight nylon cables for locked-down support.

The feel and responsiveness of the Nike Zoom HyperRev is enhanced with the combination of full-length Nike Zoom and a lightweight Phylite midsole.

Designer Leo Chang’s goal was to create a lightweight, breathable and flexible shoe that delivered a custom fit with proprioceptive feel. The shoe's ankle support features flexible foam lining within the mesh.

Full performance benefits of the Nike Zoom HyperRev include:

RESPONSIVE CUSHIONING

Full-length Nike Zoom provides responsive cushioning encased within a lightweight Phylite midsole for responsive shock absorption.

LOCKED-DOWN SUPPORT

A dynamic Flywire system made up of super-strong, ultralight nylon cables cradles the foot for locked-down support just where it’s needed.

STABILITY

The foam comfort of the collar and heel area provide a proprioceptive feel combined with stability and support during quick lateral cuts.

The Nike Zoom HyperRev launches globally on Nike.com  and select retail locations beginning Jan. 1, 2014.

That outsole looks awfully foam-y a la the huarache bball 2012... If that's the case, I won't be a happy camper.

I'm interested in these for sure. Definitely will be picking up a pair to see how they feel. I'm a little hesitant due to the lack of a heel cup but these have potential to be a very fun shoe for guards to play in.

Is retail confirmed for $140?

Trash right along with the Kobe 9. There's absolutely no design on this shoe, Nike Basketball isn't even trying these days.

Your post is trash. No design, but enough tech to get me excited. Any shoe pushing out full length zoom makes me check twice.

How can you say Nike basketball isn't trying when the Lebron and Kobe lines are implementing new ways to use their technology each and every season. They have been on fire the past couple of years from a visual and performance standpoint.

Sure. They're doing a great job with pushing the envelope with "tech" along with all the other gimmicks they sell these days.

So what, to you, is't a "gimmick" then? Shank plates? Air? Outriggers? Fuse? Maybe fuse comes across as a scam because it's definitely saving Nike money, but I'll be damned if it doesn't make for a fine, durable upper.

This is what I'm wondering. Seems like one of those old heads who thinks that anything new is trash.

Probably thinks the gloves are better for ball than XX8s.

Not an old head at all, I'm 2 months shy of 27. I would rather ball in a pair of soldier 5s/6s over both the gloves and xx3s. Neither shoe(glove, xx3) feels that great. I'm all for having good "tech" in a shoe but please incorporate some design elements into to. Maybe I should've been more specific on my complaint about the lack of design. I'm sick of these seemless 1 piece uppers with big swooshes slapped on the side of them.

I said XX8, not 23.

What's so great about soldiers that you like? They're very stiff overall in comparison to most other shoes.

Def misread your mention of the 28, my bad. I can't comment to much on that shoe, the shroud version is hideous, the SE is not that bad. I like the comfort and traction on soldiers, I have wide feet. I prefer more bulky designs rather than sleek narrow designs. I am a fan of most of Lebrons sigs.

So how can you say Nike basketball is lazy when what you like is more of a traditional shoe?

Most of the stuff being innovated now is going to be sleek/narrow just because it seems their goal for the most part is to have the most glove like fit around your shoe. You just have to realize that shoes like the Rev/KB9 aren't going to have that bulky design you prefer, you know?

Kobe's have never been in the department of being bulky. The line has pushed itself every season to get better court feel and complete freedom and fit of the shoe itself.
