***Official Breakfast Club Interview Thread***

I'd say there probably is a formula with comedy as far as timing and a whole lot of other intangibles we as non-comedians don't pay attention to. We all know funny *** dudes in regular life situations who probably would be trash if told to get on a stage and make people laugh.

But Kevin has made me laugh a few times in his standups.

I think a lot of people's problem with Hart is that his humor is very elementary and juvenile, he stays away from race and politics, and he really has no social content/humor in his routine the way a Katt Williams/Chris Rock/Dave Chappelle does. His shtick is "look at me I'm small and move a lot". But that's what got him in movies so he won.

How come Katt Williams never gets any slander? Dude has solely been living off his pimp gimmick in Friday

It didn't come from Friday. That's been his shtick since he was doing standup in the mid to late 90s.

I think you just nailed it.

Not that I mind, but KH's humor is mostly based on us laughing at HIM and not any clever observations or commentary that he makes. Where as with other big names, sure they let you laugh at them a little, but not to the degree that they become clowns.

I think where he's losing some of his ability to milk the whole look at me I'm short and a wimp gimmick, is he's buff now. It's just not as believable anymore.

Katt Williams was funny once upon a time, but arrest and doing the same routine show after show killed his career.

Stopped listening when dude started talking about how Kev knows he isn't funny. That's flat out hate imo. I can't milly rock with that. Comedians always try to over analyze comedy like there's a formula to it. Imo, it all comes down to 1) are you funny 2) can you reach a crowd with what you have to say? You're a liar if you say Kev doesn't have those bases covered.

People always say Kev isn't funny, but his specials are theatrical releases and theirs aren't. It comes off as hate imo. Come at me, b.

I agree. It was funny to hear non-funny Mike Epps talk about him.

Tk supposedly was going to fly this chick I mess with & her friend to Vegas for the maypac fight lol...they claim he's in "love" with ol girls friend...the friend didnt go becsuse she didnt wanna mess things up with her boyfriend the girl I mess with did but she went with another group of people...She claims she flew to cali and drove from there with her cousins to go to Vegas.. Supposedly She got to drunk and they had to watch her in the room lmao damn...she did seem drunk when I spoke to her briefly on the phone..I was in Vegas that weekend as well...we didn't have official plans but she wanted to meet up...I really didn't want to lol

I have no clue what you're trying to say

Mike Epps stand up is not funny. Dude is hilarious on sketches and movies but his stand up is bad. I watched his latest one and chuckled once. Now Chris Rock is a bad mfer.

They would never give Katt his own show. He too real. It would make middle America uncomfortable. Dave ain't wanna be a puppet that's why he turned down all that bread. Richard Pryor had a show and it got pulled cuz he started dropping some knowledge with the comedy.

Epps stand up funny as hell, he just need new material. He been telling the same jokes in different ways since the 90s

I said it on another site but comedians and fans don't like happy comedians

I only know of 2 comedians that seem to be truly happy and they are Dane Cook and Kevin Hart

Both were equally hated and both were equally powerful and popular at their peaks

Comedians are generally depressed or feel like everything is against them and I guess the positivity annoys them

That's my theory

Leather hearing aid case.... U must haven't seen his latest joint, go waste a hour on Netflix and not laugh.

Lol I thought I was the only one...I'm thinking he used those jokes back in 09/10...but the new stand-up was decent...some parts had me weak

That new Mike Epps stand-up on Netflix was pure struggle for a good 20 to 30 minutes. And he does recycle his jokes. He got it together after the struggle opening though.

I get so tired of Mike Epps doing that **** he did in All About The Benjamins. That **** he did when he was giving the cashier the lottery numbers. It's so old

Katt Williams is like Eddie Griffin to me. I thought both would be bigger. I thought both were funny, but their careers sort of stalled. I'm not sure if it's the limitations of not being a mainstream black comedian.

Neither Chris Rock or Mike Epps funny in stand up

This is blasphemy

I like Kevin. I think he's over saturating himself but that might be what's necessary these days cuz the public always wants more and more. His movies are terrible except the two with Michael Ealy. I like when he's on Conan and stuff.

COSIGN

I never thought about this

but I feel like what homie earlier said is true about Kevin Hart isn't the typical black comedian who followed after Richard and Eddie. That's probably helped him become successful, because he is different. I always thought Kevin was like a dirty Bill Cosby.

He needs to stop being Sam Jackson with the movie roles and be more selective.

this is a great observation, although dane cook is horrible lol

About Last Night was Kevin Hart at his best, wedding ringer and ride along 1 are solid

the other movies with him starring are not that good
