***Official Breakfast Club Interview Thread***

I'm 30. I unapologetically despise the colored dread, Vlone wearing, androgynous movement. They're all **** boys. IDGAF if that makes me "old" either.

And it's not ALL of the young kids either. There are plenty of dope young artists. Alot actually. But I'm talking about the ones who've been given the stamp to influence culture.

I'm not saying every new artist and their music is awful but majority of it is though. It's dope seeing someone come out and say they don't listen to it. You see mad interviews where they front like they play it but you can tell they not playing this ****.

Artists need to start calling out the new generation for the garbage they're making. No creativity or originality. Just rapping over the same beats, with the same flows, with the same slang and the same look. **** is wack as ****. The expectation and quality of music today is so low. I can't believe some of the **** that is accepted today.

Rap just got to friendly man. Most of the collabs don't even make sense. I liked it when artist didn't do **** outside there camp.

Nobody has a problem with the yachtys or uzis, heck, we had vanilla ice, mc hammer, ODB, D12, Bone Crusher, Lil Zanes Chingys, etc. etc.

The difference was a BALANCE, and everyone typically listened to a variety. And didn't COPY. If you copied, you got called out and exposed.
Nowadays, you got unoriginal trying to proclaim their greatness and brag. How you bragging, but a copy cat? I don't respect that (you feel free to do so, if you want).

There has always been fun music in hop hop, nothing wrong with that.

And worse, you got radio jockeys (I don't listen to radio but when I'm riding with other people) I chuckle at them saying certain songs are the hottest and most buzzing tracks, knowing these songs are putrid. I don't care if it's their job,

So your problem is with the corporations and labels who run this **** then, like I've been saying....

Man, hush up. Labels been getting over on artists for over 70 years. Not even just hip hop. All genres. F them labels. R&B, Rock and Roll, Pop, etc, common sense backs this up.

I stopped with the radio in like 2009, or I just listen to satellite radio.

My problem ain't with the corporations, it's with the fans and wack musicians/copycats

We have this discussion over and over.

If you really think the quality and originality hasn't dropped in hip hop then I don't know what to tell you.

Smh at sticking D12 in there with the rest of that list

I ain't even see that the first time. He trippin.

There was wack rappers in the early 2000's but it wasn't this many and they ain't last that long. You would have wack dudes come out and last for maybe 2 or 3 songs. Cuz of the Internet Yachty, Uzi, 21 Savage will be around for a while and they'll be more after.

Just go listen to the old **** then. We don't got power like people think we do. Their gonna blow up whoever they wanna blow up. Only a small few get on organically nowadays.

The reason why it seems (or maybe it actually, not my point) like there are so many bad rappers today is because Hip-Hop has progressed to a point where it's essentially pop music. As a result, it's become far more dependent upon melody and image, instead of the bars and that's what pop music is.

There's so many bad rappers because...well they aren't rappers  they're pop artists. All the guys y'all killing with the colored dreads and eccentric styles and what not, the music they make or have become popular for, is not rap.

At the very least it isn't rap in the traditional sense and as a result shouldn't be judged as so

This is VEEERRRRYYYY true. Like I said, there's some new artists that are dope but I rarely listen to new cats. I probably cut back on new music in 2012-2013. So much bad **** to come out and I just lost interest.

I repped you because I do agree about Hip Hop being pop now but I will say just because the music is eccentric and not rap in the "traditional sense" doesn't mean it isn't rap. Return to the 36 Chambers is a classic rap album IMO and that **** is full of ODB shouting, singing hella off key, etc. far from what I would consider traditional

Hip Hop  is  pop culture now tho and you can see it everywhere you go. We're at a point where a HUGE portion of people consuming and actually cashing out on this **** are casuals or not apart of the "culture" so to speak so they don't care about half the **** we be on here discussing.

The biggest rapper we got had multiple reference tracks leak and didn't miss a beat. The Hip Hop purists was mad but they're also not the ones cashing out on Drake in the first place. Chet in XYZ frat at USC whose spent $2k this year on Merch, Concert/Festival Tickets and  iTunes don't give a **** about ghostwriting, balance in Mainstream Hip Hop, etc and that's the type of people these labels and artist want

With that being said, there's still PLENTY of _'s out there making dope **** with lyrics, substance, etc they just aren't with the big labels, all over the radio, etc. In 2016 we shouldn't be relying on labels and the radio to find good music in the first place tho

You guys obviously don't even know how to use the Internet if you think there aren't some GREAT young artists out there.

If you let the masses dictate what you listen to that's on you but it's never been easier to find good music by young artists.

You ****** only wanna talk about the colored dread dudes but not Vince Staples, Mick Jenkins, Chance etc.

It's on y'all too, what's supported gets pushed.
Exactly

100% right

Which is why it sucks when ppl say rap sucks now etc but are using ppl who don't even rap as the reasoning for why rap sucks.

"Don't even know how to use the internet"

Same can be said about the millions of people who sit on their phones alllllll day, and ask googlable questions. Ironically, the people I see who use their phones, social media, internet are some of the most closed minded people when it comes to music. They listen to the same artists, and don't explore at all...

Same scenario.
