there is a reason why h2 and h3 was the number one game played on live until the next title released. as soon as that garbage game reach came out with sprint there was a sharp decline in number of players. competitive or casual, NO one played H4.
That's not quite a fair argument. Reach didn't kill halo. COD did. An outside force. No matter how good Halo 4 could've been, there wasn't anything that was gonna stop black ops 2.

Basically Other games really hadn't or just started to rise in popularity. Everything has its time. Halo had its time then it was COD. Now that's declining and the next game will eventually take its place( Will it be Destiny 2? Titans all 2...)

reach wasnt that bad. i mean it wasnt good but yea

Halo 4 was just :x

thought about calling MS and see if they will refund my $60 for halo 4

The Halo community is a living example of the familiarity heuristic and prosophobia.
Famb what you just say?

I think it means they like only what's familiar and they have a irrational fear of change

-As much as I respect Antidope, I feel he like many in the "hardcore" Halo community are dead wrong. A game doesn't suck because you don't like it, or it doesn't fit your opinion of what "Halo" should be

Halo has to evolve to survive. I swear the vocal hardcore minority in the Halo community just reminds me of the Tea Party now

And please stop with blaming H4 numbers solely on people not liking the changes, that's only part of the problem. COD came out around the same time, people went to that game and never came back, not because the hated H4's changes, but because they found COD more enjoyable. Period

And I bet a bunch of dudes in there that had "Been on Halo since CE".

COD took Halo's lunch by being something completely different, and the answer some dudes have is too make more of the same :smh:

That's how franchises die

well yes and no. The OG halo fans got the games they liked 7-9 years ago. Since then the game has went through changes to a degree where it's completely different gameplay wise.

Now we have these new halo fans that first got into halo with reach and 4. To them halo Is still halo.

The halo community really is one divided.

THIS. Nailed it on the head here. I'm the ladder but I got into Halo with Halo 3. Before MCC I never played Halo 2 or CE. Still, I loved Reach, 4, and so far am really liking 5 although I can see the complaints from both sides.

I am one of the hundreds of thousands of people that grabbed CoD 4 after playing hundreds of hours of playing halo 3 and never turned back.

Yep CoD 4 changed the landscape for shooters after halo 3. BF could've been next imo but every release after Bad Company 2 was a bit more of a letdown than the previous

IMO battlefield 4 is a very good example of why amazing graphics arent what make an amazing game.

But the giant fail that was BF4's launch was solely EA's fault.

As it stands today, BF4 is actually really really good imo.

Nobody likes or plays Halo 4? How come whenever I'm in Big Team Battle, out of all the games/maps to pick, people still vote and pick Halo 4.

Halo 3 custom games puts it at a level Halo 4 conspired, but never came close to reaching.

Only playlist that has base settings Halo 4 in it.

I've actually taken a shine to H2A over the last week or so, I play it a lot actually. Plus now that parties can stick together I can play ranked again

Yeah it's a great game but I feel it falls a little flat compared to the other previous BF titles when it comes to giving players the complete package. I liked the campaign in BF3 a lot more and thought some of the co-op missions were pretty cool.

BF:BC2 had a great campaign, MP and DLC worth buying more imo.

But BF4 does have the best MP (although BC2 I liked a lot more) out of the previous 2 but I think BF4s release left a sour taste in a lot of peoples mouth.

I love Halo 2 Anniversary, I think it feels like a different Halo game. I'm hoping they can expand on it and make/recreate more maps.

EASY PASS ON COD.

Yep.

IMO the best shooter is the Battlefields. They dropped the ball with 4 but it was still solid. 3, BC 1 + 2 were amazing. From the maps, team play, vehicles, etc.

Can fully understand why people would rather play something like COD, something more arcade like for sure. It's fast. Just was never a fan of it's online, did like their story lines here and there though.

I'm not the biggest halo fan. I like competent shooters with solid gunplay. Halo 5's beta has showcased that9. I'm speaking from an outside perspective.
I really don't want to call the game bad, because I have played much worse, but when you know that this is supposed to be a Halo game, a franchise that has set a standard of excellent amongst console shooters, and have four games that came before this one (CE, 2, 3, Reach) who all to what I would consider to a large degree upheld that standard it's hard for me to sit her and give this game any sort of praise.
A franchise that the creators stopped releasing games for. 343 isn't Bungie. Bungie made Destiny, which you also don't like correct? My point is that even the halo creators aren't interested in creating the halo you want. The gunplay in halo 5 is solid. For casual shooter fans like myself, that's enough. I feel that your talking points are geared towards the halo faithful. If you need that OG halo feel, I think you'll have to stick with MCC for a while. I didn't like the enhancements in cod aw, so I stuck with cod ghosts.
The maps? Like I previously mentioned these aren't arena sized maps. It's an insult to call Regret and Truth Midship inspired, nothing about these Maps lend to it outside of artistic design. The amount of cover on these things is insane, coupled with the defensive nature of the Spartan abilities just leads to pop and shoot gameplay. Shoot a guy twice and watch him thruster behind a corner or Sprint away. As far as Clamber goes? This isn't something new to Halo, you were always able to get up to places that base. Movement/jumping didn't allow, but they actually took effort. Crouch jumping, nade jumps, etc etc as opposed to just pressing a button to climb a wall. Clamber isn't opening a whole new dimension, it's just taking away from another core element of this game and spoon feeding people. Not to mention it quickly negates height advantage. You can get from the bottom to the top of any map in like two seconds cause they're putting ledges to climb up on everywhere.
I get what you're saying, but I don't think m$ created 343 to appease the halo faithful. I'd assume Halo MCC was created for the halo faithful. I think making halo as accessible as possible even at the risk of pushing away hardcore halo fans is a risk m$ is willing to take. The only halo game I've bought was halo 3, which was eh. I'll def. get halo 5, since I played the beta. Most things I disliked of halo 3 aren't present in halo 5.
I just want a Halo arena game again, and MCC existing isn't a free pass to no longer make them. Idk if I'll end up buying this game or not but the lofty goals they had for this game and the future of this franchise will not be achieved with this game. Continuing to alienate your core fan base to pander to people who change shooters they play like seasons isn't going to work. They'll move on just like they always do, then when it comes time to make people pay money for DLC they won't be around to buy it, and you already angered your core fanbase, the people who were most likely to buy it so they're not around either. I really hope annualizing Halo is their aim because no title will see prolonged success if they keep making them like this.
I think mcc is a free pass. m$ essentially gave you(halo faithful) the games that you wanted. Look at cod. It has a new gimmick every year. It still hasn't been knocked off it's fps throne. Why are you trying to make it seem like the halo faithful matters that much to 343? Maybe in a flowerly way, but I don't think the halo faithful matter that much in a sales figure way. If 3 season changing shooter fans preorder halo 5 to every 1 halo faithful fan, which consumer type do you think 343 is going to listen to more?
Being better than the worst Halo game shouldn't be enough for you 343, it really shouldn't. Matter of fact what other Dev out there is drastically altering their franchise to this degree? COD, Battlefield, Gears, and a host of other games all get to make changes to their games while keeping the core gameplay the same, but for some reason Halo is not afforded that luxury. I've never seen anything like this, all under the guise of evolution as if 2, 3, and Reach didn't evolve from their predecessor while managing to keep the foundation of the game the same. This right here? This isn't the same. They bastardized Halo plain and simple.
Halo isn't 343's franchise. They got the reins and where ever they go with it, you'll have to deal with it. Your example isn't fair. Cod/battefield release yearly/bi-yearly and are designed to have a flow of dlc released after each release. cod/gow/bf's installments use the upgraded versions of the same engine, while 343's halos use a really modified version of bungie's engine.

No console war but that av out is pointless seriously if u don't have a hdmi TV u made the wrong purchase its 2015 everything is high def. Next gen console on basically a tube TV ? Lol that hdmi to component is gonna look horrible. Just wait and buy a real TV IMO
i agree completely. I'm thinking about upgrading my tv just because I feel like my consoles aren't getting their due diligence and my tv is only a few years old, 2011 I think

I love playing battlefield w/ friends or a squad

CoD is baby though
i always preferred cod over bf. After ghosts dropped, I was disappointed. AW dropped and I was into tough for a few weeks and I really thought this would be the first cod game that I bought the map packs for and played year round but now I can only play like 2-3 matches before I get bored :smh: I'm gonna give treyarch the benefit of the doubt because I liked the little bit of blops1 that I played but if I don't like it, I think I'm done for good with cod. I put about 120 hours into bf4 and it would've been more but that launch was terrible

NO RESPECT FOR REACH. THAT GAME IS ****ING AWFUL. IT IS THE WORST HALO BY FAR TO ME. MORE SO THAN HALO 4. CARTOONY PIECE OF S**T.

But COD is way more influential though. Cod has never switched up to chase BF, matter or fact the opposite happened.

Brah just look at how DICE changed from Bad Company 1 to BC2

Even Modern Combat was even more different

I DONT THINK I BELIEVE THIS STATEMENT  . YOU RIDE HARDCORE FOR CALL OF DUTY.

I feel that the change from BC1 to BC2 was improvements for all the better tho like driving vehicles to how the guns were from BC1 to BC2 were greatly improved upon but I see what you are saying tho. I think CoD just found a formula that worked better much faster than BF was able to

Reach easily beats out 4 to me. It still had the core concepts of Classic Halo within it and got way better once Zero Bloom got added along with the option for no Sprint.

H4 had Sprint by default and couldnt be removed Flinch, No Descope, Ordinance, no weapons on the map, I could keep going. I dont think it'll ever get that bad again.
