[thread="568750"]M$ will continue to commission 343 to create what they vision as a successful halo game, not what a small portion of a dying breed thinks is a successful halo game.[/thread]

Halo will continue to evolve its combat
I would argue that dilution of the weapon sandbox is a step backwards and this is for any shooting game.

Regardless of my feelings about Halo in particular, I've always thought that having multiple guns that serve essentially the same purpose in a shooting game and the difference between them more often than not being negligible was always a bad thing. Its one of the things I loved most about Halo, when it really came down to it, you were playing an 8-12 game regardless of how many guns were actually in the game.

H3 had 28 guns in it, the majority of them were really useless when you got down do it. If I ever picked the Spiker up, it was to mess with people, the Plasma Rifle only had a purpose on two maps, The Needler is the Needler, etc etc etc. H3 is BR, AR, Carbine, Melee, Power weapons and thats 8-12 of the guns, and thats how its always been. Go pull someones TOD on H3 and those guns are the ones you'll see at the top.

90% of the time you know what the other guy has because he probably has the same thing that you have. Along with that fact, it makes the weapon sandbox more balanced. When you have at max two guns that serve one purpose it makes it easy to balance those guns against the entire weapon sandbox as opposed to each other.

Now look at H4, H5, and this game. Each "Class of gun" has 3-4 weapons in it. When you do that, it forces you to balance those weapons against themselves as opposed to the sandbox itself. Why does H4 need the BR, DMR, Carbine, and Light Rifle? The Suppresser, AR, Storm Rifle? Having too many guns that do the same thing causes problems it leads to an oversaturation of guns.

This is the main problem with loadout shooters, everygun in a class has to be balanced to the gun thats relative in its category then balanced to the intended range. Then you end up with a bunch of assault rifles that behave essentially the same, snipers that behave the same, etc etc etc.

Now this game has the option to tweak the guns themselves which is the next level up. You see 5 DMR variants there in that screencap but it'll end up being like 20. Its just amplifying the problem.

Most importantly it kills the idea of a utility weapon and Halo 1-3 and to some extent Reach had one.

Again this applies to all shooters, COD does the same thing with their guns, part of the reason I cant totally get into it. Just feels eh.

But yeah I'll chill on the talking about this. Cant have talking about a Xbox franchise in the Xbox thread, its "depressin
g"

Frist off, not arguing

I agree with everything you're saying, even the team that created COD cut back on the guns in Titanfall because of exactly the issues you stated. And the even used Halo as an example on their forums as a game where every gun has a purpose.

But just the shear natural of the new game being a F2P game means that they need a carrot to put into front of the player to keep them coming back. Yes it might throw off the traditional balance of the Halo sandbox, but without those changes the game is DOA, Halo game-play alone won't be enough to hook those players.

-But if you finally tired of 343 BS, and decide to head up to Remond, WA to ride on them. Let me know brah, I got your back

They're in Kirkland still I believe. Right near my pop's place. I got your hideout if need be.

So is that F2P halo game international only? As sad as it seems, I wouldn't be surprised to see them port that kind of game to the states because of the massive profitability on the micro transactions.

Yeah, I just picked up borderlands today. I only pay maybe the tutorial of BL1 like years ago but never actually got into it. Hopefully it continues the streak of good purchases by me. it was a huge drought before xenoverse came out
