Stephen Elop is now the head of the Xbox division at Microsoft. He was the CEO of Nokia before they went under and has no business being the head of anything anymore no pun intended. Sources have said that he was gonna take over the Xbox division for a while now and subsequently will sell Xbox to Amazon.
Analysts have been going back an forth about this recently and I just don't see it happening, microsoft rarely gives up on its side projects.  The xbox business has never really been profitable for them same as their windows phone division.  If they need to dump anything it would be the windows phone but they haven't because they are sitting on so much software cash that it truly doesn't matter to them.

To anybody that doesn't know, microsoft operates their xbox division at a loss.  There have been a handful of years where they were profitable but overall the money they make off selling xbox's is nonexistent in comparison to their software business.

-Selling Xbox is not Elop's decision to make. It is Nadella's and Gates. Both public supporters of Xbox. And both pushing the "devices and services" future

-The Elop selling Xbox rumor started with Bloomberg saying that was part of his pitch to the board to become CEO. MS responded publicly by calling it "fiction"

-Elop didn't cause Nokia's downfall, it was doomed before he came.

-MS doesn't operate Xbox at a loss, it has been in the black for years. The entire division Xbox falls under larger division that falls operates as a lost, Zune, Surface, Windows Phone, Kin. Get the picture. They hardware has costed them billions, but Xbox division has been profitable for years.

-If anything. Elop might close MS Studios. but I doubt that since MS already cut the fat years ago.

--I forgot to add. The only problem with the One, besides price, is that they were so worried about all the other stuff that the will do they fell asleep at the wheel and let Sony get a power advantage. The worried too much about the frosting, and not enough on the cake.

thread title change:

OFFICIAL AMAZON XBOX ONE(WON  ) THREAD: STAND BY FOR TITANFALL BETA!

which actually doesn't seem that bad.  They'll replace the windows 8 UI, throw in the kindle books, amazon store would be :wow:

Your correct in that the numbers I was going off of were for the whole entertainment and services division, I agree with you that xbox isn't leaving the Microsoft fold anytime soon.

Brah just get the Stros.
Most likely what I'll be doing.

The thread @MrDeeds  linked was helpful

.

I'm not looking to make things complicated and buying a separate mic and all that, I'm not that hardcore lul. But I want something good and easy to setup out the box. The guy said he finds them to be exceptional value, mainly cause the mixamp..and since I'll be getting them a good amount under retail it's a great deal for me. The one thing that worried me about his review was the headphones leaked a fair amount of noise, and he wouldn't crank them loud if someone in the room is sleeping
laugh.gif
that's my main reason for getting them. I don't think I have the same ears as these audiophiles so maybe it's not as bad to a regular person.. plus I don't plan on blasting them.

Going to BB today to trade in Forza, 2K, and AC4. Was thinking about just paying off InFamous and maybe MGS: GO but now yall got me wanting to get some astros
laugh.gif

How do astros feel?

If I was in my basement I'd just play through my TV like I have been.. But now that it's in the room I hate playing with the volume at like 3 lulz.

I think I'm gonna take Forza as well since it's been a long while since I've played it, along with COD to best buy and put it towards the headphones and PvZ

Polk 4 Shot Xbox One Headphones Launching Next Week
Plugs directly into your Xbox One controller.
by Justin Rubio FEBRUARY 26, 2014
Polk's new 4 Shot gaming headphones for the Xbox One are shipping in just over a week. Announced at E3, the Polk headphones were created in collaboration with Halo and Forza Motorsport developers 343 Industries and Turn 10 Studios, respectively, to ensure proper audio tuning for different gaming needs.

"Since unveiling the 4 Shot at last year's E3 Expo, the excitement has grown in response to its anticipated launch," said Polk vice president Mark Suskind. "We worked diligently with Microsoft to create a headset that combines complex audio found in the gaming world with rich, exhilarating sound typical of Polk's engineering. We know there’s a substantial demand for Xbox One headsets, and we’re proud to be the first company with retail availability of a headset specifically licensed for the console."

The headphones' adaptor plugs directly into the Xbox One controller's proprietary data port, so there's no need to worry about unwanted cords coming from the console to your ears. By using Polk Optimized Electro-acoustic Tuning (POET), the 4 Shot aims to deliver high-quality, realistic sound. If you need to chat with fellow gamers, a retractable microphone is included, and leatherette padding and over-ear pads help make sure your head and ears stay comfortable throughout those long gaming sessions.

Polk's 4 Shot headphones are priced at $159.95 and will be offered in Ink Black, Desert White, and Nova Blue when they launch March 6th. The headphones will be available at select GameStop locations and directly through Polk Audio, with Best Buy stores in Canada expected to get the product in March.

Forza was the first game I bought for the X1 since I had everything else for PS4, had fun with it for about a week. The lack of tracks, night time driving made it feel too repetitive for me.

I don't really care for night time racing.. but the lack of tracks was kind of crap.

I thought about waiting for the polks headphones, but since I'm getting the Astros for only 30 bucks more I'd rather have those.

I like that these are truly wireless but I'd wait for reviews before copping.

It doesn't bother me as much either, I guess the lack of track  in addition to no night time racing bugged. i think with night time racing even on the same tracks would have helped keep my interest a tad bit longer....2 weeks longer

So do these not come with the mixamp thing?

Also, you cant adjust game volume and chat volute without the mixamp???

Yes that doesn't come with it.

You can find some refurbed ones for 179 with the amp and everything on ebay Nawz posted a couple pages back.

If you're looking for cheaper ones that got pretty good reviews and can adjust game/chat volumes the Skullcandy SLYR got pretty good reviews from that dude in that thread MrDeeds posted.

I see...

I been holding out for the Turtle beach XO SEVENs...

http://www.turtlebeach.com/product-detail/xbox-one-headsets/ear-force-xo-seven/389

I've used some cheap Turtle beaches for a couple years now (xp-12) and they're light weight, super cheap, and don't hurt my head.

I also am waiting to see how this new polk headset works..

I rocked TB with my 360 and HATED how many wires there were (X21).

Microsoft should just start bringing out proprietary wireless headsets.

This. What's the trade in value of Forza?

You don't even gotta buy to try em on. All but one of the Astro A40 boxes were open when I went to pick mine up. You can just slide em out and try on. Employee saw me and didn't make a peep.
